Your Weekly Dose of…When Glamberts Attack!

2010 October 12

by TopIdol

Here is your weekly dose of Glambert insanity.

The AMA nominations were announced today. The only Idol to receive a nomination was Carrie Underwood. THERE IS OUTRAGE! OUTRAGE!

And they’ve taken to the American Music Awards’ Facebook Page to get their voices heard.

You fools just lost all of your ADAM LAMBERT Fans by shutting him out of your no longer relevant show. Millions WON’T be watching!

Care to wager on if they win the ratings share that evening?

The AMA’s should be ashamed that Adam Lambert did not get any nominations. You obviously do not see talent as it sits right in front of your own untalented faces! Shame on you! Adam obviously does not need you anyways!

Blah blah blah blah

Hmm..I seem to remember a question asked on here about who should nominated for the new breakout artist.Funny how there were like 500 comments and 90% were for Adam Lambert to win..yet its quietly ignored when its time for the nominations. If someone with a sold out world tour isnt nominated at least once, then sorry thats not show I’ll watch.

You don’t think the AMAs are onto spammers? And aren’t these awards most contingent upon record sales? (Oh, and the term sold-out is clearly a selective one.)

Adam Lambert put you on the map

No. I believe that was a man named Dick Clark. But I will not try and correct your revisionist history.

Thank god I wont be around to watch this awful award show their ratings will go down Adam deserves to get nominated even though he could win or not but still. They better not ask him to perform again.

Oh, don’t worry. I bet they won’t. What exactly does he have to promote at the moment?

No Adam Lambert, no watch. And WTF with Gokey? Jeez

Hee hee. Gokey is doing some red carpet crap. Joining him will be Lance Bass, which may have lessened the cries of ABC IS A BUNCH OF HOMOPHIBIANS…at least for now. Wait until the others who cannot access Facebook from work come home for the day.

  • Randivoight

Adam is the best obviously these ass holes can’t see this so haha to the assholes when they have no more fans oh and Adam just about getting a blowjob wow that pic is hot I’d give Adam a blowjob but his penis is TOOOO BIGGGGG LOL

  • STOCKYGALORE

he likes going commando sometimes, but to protect the bulge, that is just not wise. dont pretend like you don’t know when he isn’t wearing underpants.

  • songkat7

Congratulate me, I have had my very first call-out on Twitter by a sparkle cow. I’m so proud.

With all the announcements about the True Hollywood Story that will be all about Adam, I merely observed that the only true Hollywood story that Adam could have is that he is as manufactured as Hollywood itself. I was told by said sparkle cow that I should watch the show anyway since I “obviously don’t know anything about Adam”.

    *insert eyeroll here*

    • Fabgab

Congrats songkat7! Welcome to the club.

One thing about your comment about Adam though –couldn’t the same be said about anyone who ever came out of Idol?

      • http://8sourcandy.wordpress.com/ 8sourcandy

I honestly think anyone with internet access has been called out by a sparkle cow by now.

      • songkat7

Fabgab – I don’t think that’s true about all idols. Some ate more about the music than that.

Sour – with all I’ve ranted about the guy, I’m surprised it took this long.

        • songkat7

I meant some are* more about the music…damn predictive text!

  • STOCKYGALORE

I love the Glamily because we are like a real family, albeit a scattered one. Some of use talk to each other every day, some of us have met, others have not…some of us like each other, some do not, but we all LOVE each other, and the head Glambert, Adam Lambert. Always here for my fellow Glamily members, and you have all proved time and time again that you are here for me. This is what I love about this Glamily…this and so much more that words cannot do justice.

    • magnacarta

some of us like each other, some do not, but we all LOVE each other

      how does that work?

  • STOCKYGALORE

Adam Lambert’s crotch, heretoforth known as the Glambulge, is hereby insured in the amount of $1 Billion. The value of the Glambulge has been determined by its unusually large size, which is believed to be between ten inches and one foot in its full glory. Also, the endless amounts of pleasure given to millions around the world, especially when visible in such outfits as the Australian Mardi Gras codpiece, the zipper pants from Mr. Lambert’s American Idol Ring of Fire performance, and the red pants from the “Crazy” performance from the Art4Life Benefit especially make us believe that millions around the world would suffer great mental and emotional anguish, possibly resulting in psychological damage, should any known harm whatsoever come to the Glambulge. Coverage includes but is not limited to the following: shrinkage, wrinkling, skin discoloration/disfiguration, bruising, discoloration of the assumed ginger color of the hair/fur surrounding the Glambulge, as well as damage to either of the two *minor*(but not so minor) attachments. The attachements are valued at $100 million each, due to their ability to continue the invaluable entry of the Lambert line into the gene pool of the human race. The beneficiaries of this policy will be Adam Lambert’s 600,000+ twitter followers, heretoforth known as the Glamberts, and the funds are to be used to pay for any psychiatric care for conditions resulting from knowledge of Glambulge damage. Members of AdamOfficial.com and the Adam Lambert Official Fan Club receive an automatic extra $1 million in the payout due to their more extreme investment in the well being of the Glambulge.

Any over exuberant Glambert that should by any means cause such damage will be excluded from the settlement. In addition before disbursement of the settlement sufficient funds must be set aside for legal fees to relieve the perpetrator of said Glambert status and arrange for banishment of her/him to gator infested swampland .

Any refusal on the part of Adam Lambert and his management to take reasonable precautions to prevent damage to the Glambulge will render this policy null and void. These precautions include but are not limited to: custom made, Glambulge sized protective cups to protect from penile arthritis while thrusting during performaces and other activities, as well as employing Glambulge protectors, preferrably in the form of men with hands large enough to cup and protect the Glambulge at a moment’s notice. Furthermore, we have decided that the $1 Billion is only a base payout. Should Glambulge damage result in vocal damage, the amount rises from that base payout, depending on the extent of harm done to the voice.

Oxygen is very thin on Planet Fierce…

      • muzikizmi

Uh huh. First the delusions, and then when they begin to fall over from hypoxia, the others think it is the Glambert spell.

    • http://8sourcandy.wordpress.com/ 8sourcandy

      Stocky,

      You are hysterical!!!!! :)

I am concerned that a down-on-her-luck glambert may damage the almighty appendage in question deliberately to get the cash. What precautions are in place to ensure that doesn’t happen?

BTW, what attorney have the glambert’s hired to facilitate this policy?

      • muzikizmi

I heard it was a ‘lawler’ who wrote some wacked book about Albanian Idol.

        • mtlfan

          hahahahahaha that’s too funny muzikizmi.

penile arthritis … STOCKY .. anatomy doesn’t seem to be your strong suit
but that was pretty funny!! :)

    • sj

      ROFLMAO!

    • Salleyanne

We are going to need industrial strength bleach by the case after this.

    • B York

LOL! This is performance art, right?

      • jukejoint

I think someone is taking whatever the original Stocky posts at the Adam site and brings it over here to amuse people and make fun of the original Stocky. Because it’s full of non sequiturs and really doesn’t make any sense here. In fact, it sounds like it was swiped from some other conversation and just pasted willy nilly. No pun intended.

        • rehabilitard

          Bingo!

        • http://topidolblog.com TopIdol

But it is so damn funny!

          • STOCKYGALORE

EXCUSE ME FOR BEING A KRADAMITE AND WANTING TO COMMUNICATE WITH OTHERS LIKE MYSELF.

          • rehabilitard

It IS funny, lol, and I am looking forward to Stocky’s posts. :)

          • STOCKYGALORE

Wonder if Adam would be amused…I almost think he might be. He knows we’re harmless.

  • chelle

did you guys talk about his IGB video?

    • magnacarta

      yes, we did.

      • chelle

        must have missed it

  • STOCKYGALORE

After looking at the lucky people that Adam has tongue dived, I know we have all been thinking about what it would be like. He is admittedly a great kisser, so we are all anticipating this moment. If you say you aren’t you’re either lying or dead. So gimme your tongue diving fantasies.

    • magnacarta

I’m dead? That’s news to me.

      • Legend

I’m dead and rolling over in my grave.

        • http://topidolblog.com TopIdol

No wonder I was having a conversation with The Sixth Sense kid on the bus.

          • STOCKYGALORE

I’d slide my tongue around in there so I could memorize what his mouth felt like, and then faint when we were done LOL. And then he’d give me water. He can go from hot to sweet in an 0.2 seconds. I dreamed about him tongue diving me after i found out he did it the first time. He pointed at me, the crowd pushed me forward, he grabbed me, sorta rough, and kissed me with lots of tongue. He even grabbed my hair. Then I woke up LOL.

    • nonna-muss

If he tongue dived me I know I’d wish I was dead.

      • Salleyanne

I’m with you nonna-muss. Just one word for StockyGalore….Yuck!!!

Sad that you live in a fantasy world. Real life is so much more enjoyable. You really need to get a life and quit living in a dream world. TI please save us from this ………………or let Deez have a go, pretty please.

        • http://topidolblog.com TopIdol

          Stocky is our entertainment ;)

          • http://8sourcandy.wordpress.com/ 8sourcandy

            TI,
            I love stocky.

    • et

Man, I’m kinda pissed to find out that I’m dead!

      • On The Edge

Me too, and I barely made a dent in my bucket list! Oh well, the food at the Texas State Fair would have killed me anyway.

After looking at the lucky people that Adam has tongue dived, I know we have all been thinking about what it would be like.

Maybe you honey but not any sane person.

      • STOCKYGALORE

Ok…lets change the rules a little to broaden it! You, my dears, can tongue dive EACH OTHER in here too.

        • Salleyanne

          Get a life Stocky.

        • magnacarta

why are you so obsessed with tongue diving? what’s wrong with normal kissing?

          • ross

Thanks – now I need to take out my brain and wash it in the sink.

          • muzikizmi

Pass the brain bleach Ross. I hope the stains aren’t permanent. Cults are interesting, in a can’t look away from the car crash kind of way.

          • STOCKYGALORE

there is nothing dirty about what we do. It is only natural in the company of Adam. And aren’t we always in need of cold showers around here? But I think we choose to keep it hot n steamy instead.

        • http://8sourcandy.wordpress.com/ 8sourcandy

Sallyanne seems to have the best tongue, nonna-muss has the best lips, but I’d still prefer the originator, if you don’t mind. :)

    • sj

No thanks. I don’t find Adam or his tongue in the least bit attractive. To each his own.

      • STOCKYGALORE

you can lick anything you want! Our Glam God likes it! Dr. GB needs a good bath after long days at the clinic.

        • sj

Ha ha. Again, I’ll pass. But you – you have at it. :)

        • ross

I wasn’t saying it was dirty, I just wanted to get rid of the mental pictures.

          • Salleyanne

Stocky you were amusing at first, but now you are just disgusting. Get a real life with a real person not some celebrity. It’s a lot more pleasurable than a fantasy any day.

          • STOCKYGALORE

I am in for my morning bath!

  • B York

On the lighter side of fantarding, a quote from 30 Rock’s Liz Lemon:

Liz: I needed to go to the bathroom, but the door was locked. My recently divorced aunt had moved in with us and I was sharing a bathroom with her. To be prepared I tried to take my underpants off over my roller skates. I slipped and as I fell I pulled down this poster of the singer Tom Jones that my aunt had put up. My mom heard the noise and ran and found me. Squirming under the Tom Jones poster with my underpants around my ankles. It didn’t look good, Jack.

    • Miz

I saw that, B York. It was hilarious and slightly disturbing at the same time. I was fascinated with how they got Tina to be little too.

    • deez

The haircut was suposed to be a Dorothy Hamill, but it was actually a Pete Rose, lol.

That episode was hilarious (as usual).

Haha, there is one angry little girl on there – though her calling him “Apoop” made me giggle. Lordy. She is way too fond of the “c” word. She needs her mouth washed out with soap :)

    • ross

      What did Anoop say?

      • Udderly Shiny

I found it, he’s pissed them off in this interview

        http://blogs.ajc.com/american-idol-blog/2010/10/21/anoop-desai-in-atlanta-for-bmi-showcase-concert/?cxntfid=blogs_american_idol_blog

I asked him what his brand is: “It’s smart. It’s intelligent. I’m a gentleman. My music is real. It talks about life and situations I can relate to. You’re never going to hear me singing a song like Kesha or Adam [Lambert.] That’s not my lane. My lane is smart and hip. It’s hooky, it’ s catchy. I want to appeal to simple universal characteristics we all want, which is love.”

He better hire himself some bodyguards.

      • ross

        Just saw this on twitter:

LadyJaneVIII @AnoopDoggDesai u have dissed the wrong person, us Glamberts will not let this go! u need to apologize publicly!!!

Ah, here we go – GLamberts demand the weekly apology.

        • MissMyEm

          us Glamberts

What did they do with the money their mamas gave them for a good
education??? “We Glamberts”, not “Us Glamberts”. Unless one dropped out in the 3rd grade. Bad grammar drives me up a wall.

          • MissMyEm

Although…my sentence above is NOT a good
example of proper grammar. LOL So let me
            rewrite it. It should say:
Unless one dropped out of school in the 3rd grade,
they should know that “we” is the subject and “us” is
            the object.

      • et

Someone posted it over at MJs. I think it is time for me to flee there for the night, lol.

      • B York

Unlike Lambert, Desai’s music would have universal appeal and be about love.

That’s encroaching on the Glamily’s strategic territory, I guess :-)

    • http://topidolblog.com TopIdol

I don’t even know if I want to ask why they are attacking Anoop Desai. I probably don’t, do I?

      • thin mint

Anoop was talking to Rodney Ho from the Atlanta Journal.

        His comment:
“I asked him what his brand is: “It’s smart. It’s intelligent. I’m a gentleman. My music is real. It talks about life and situations I can relate to. You’re never going to hear me singing a song like Kesha or Adam [Lambert.] That’s not my lane. My lane is smart and hip. It’s hooky, it’ s catchy. I want to appeal to simple universal characteristics we all want, which is love.””

        His panicked backpedaling:
“UPDATE @ 7:21 AM Friday: Apparently, some Adam Lambert fans had gotten a hold of this and thought Anoop was implying that Adam’s music is not smart or hip or hooky or catchy. That was not what he meant at all. He called me this morning to make that clear. I knew he was simply saying that his style is different from Adam’s, that’s all. Nothing more than that.”

Will Adam’s fans be happier when people decide they’re better off never, ever mentioning the guy again?

        http://blogs.ajc.com/american-idol-blog/2010/10/21/anoop-desai-in-atlanta-for-bmi-showcase-concert/?cxntfid=blogs_american_idol_blog

      • Zowiecat

He said something along the lines of that you wouldnt hear him sing a song like K$sha or Adam and the way the magazine quoted it, it sounded uncomplimentary (and a bit of a bad idea to talk about a fellow Idol) but then he followed up with some tweats explaining that he simply meant that it’s not his style. A few crazies freaked, but as far as a can tell, the majority of fans gave him the benefit of the doubt because they are are friends. It blew over pretty quickly.

        http://www.examiner.com/tv-in-national/american-idol-anoop-desai-adam-lambert-controversy-cleared-up

        • http://topidolblog.com TopIdol

I hate Examiner and I don’t like when their links show up here!

How is this even worthy of an “article” in the first place?

          • Zowiecat

            Sorry :(
I’m not familiar with Examiner. I just thought it was easier than bringing all the quotes over to answer your question.
I don’t know why they bothered to report this as story.

          • http://topidolblog.com TopIdol

Its citizen journalism. I have no problem with citizen journalism, but the Examiner is shit. And anything you see Idol-related on there is written by tards.

          • ross

I don’t like examiner.com either, though I recently enjoyed a pretty good interview a young Kris tard did with Kris, which was a much better interview than a lot of them.

Anyhow, it seems some of the Lambert fans who always spam the comments sections of all things Allen gave me a shout out. I guess I’m now a recognized Adam hater. Which I’m not, I’ve just had some less than great things to say about him and his antics.

Anyhow, “Kirsten” and I were mentioned.

      • On The Edge

He did an interview and basically said what they ALL say…that they have a different “brand” or “style” than Adam. Which of course is BLASPHEMY in MadamLand because everyone should aspire to attain complete Adamness…that one day, all shall become Adam.

Sorry…the Mojo Nixon “Elvis Is Everywhere” song popped in my head while writing this comment and I ran with it. Need a reference? Here ya go: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_hkIN38qnY

        • rehabilitard

          Update from the reporter:

UPDATE @ 7:21 AM Friday: Apparently, some Adam Lambert fans had gotten a hold of this and thought Anoop was implying that Adam’s music is not smart or hip or hooky or catchy. That was not what he meant at all. He called me this morning to make that clear. I knew he was simply saying that his style is different from Adam’s, that’s all. Nothing more than that.

I swear, very soon no reporter is going to touch Lambert with a ten-foot pole.

    • Blue Eyes

I saw Anoop trending in Twitter last night and I was wondering why. I find that so ironic. The herd can’t get their God Adam Lambert to trend, but they got Anoop to trend! Good going Glamherd! I’m sure Anoop’s fans are thrilled and have YOU to thank! LOL!

      • ross

The phrase (in that tweet I posted), “u have dissed the wrong person, us Glamberts will not let this go!” bugs the heck out of me. It’s amazing how bullying this group of women has become in so short a time. And how convinced they have become of the rightness of their crusade. It’s weirdly fanatical.

I’m afraid all it would take would be one crazy one to take it all too seriously and cause some irreversible damage. I keep hearing about the “sane Glamberts.” So I hope some of the sane ones talk sense to the others and let them know they’re drinking a bit too much kool aid.

        • Zowiecat

I’m a sane fan and I just stay away from the maddness. (I don’t belong to a fan board, I’ve never commented on an article, spammed a poll, or even requested one of Adam’s songs on the radio.) I suspect most normal fans are the same. I’m not sure you can have a logical discussion with people who are so thouroughly wrapped up thier own irrational mindset.

(The funny thing is that crazy is relative. My sister who watches Idol and also likes Adam thinks I am nuts because I even bother to read Idol related blogs. I only go here and MJs, so I think I have my Idol problem under control :O)

Quotes like the one you mention above are frightening because you do wonder if one of them will completely snap one day and and do something truly horrific in Adam’s name, like Hinckley did.

          • ross

I guess I was thinking more about how inflammatory this black-or-white, you’re-either-for-us-or-against-us mentality is. It’s a lynch mob mentality, to me. It kind of reminds me of what incites terrorism. I know I’m probably exaggerating a lot, but, after all, the language is exactly the same. These people are angry. I have no idea why they’re so angry. Obviously they must have been angry before they ever latched on to Adam. .

        • muzikizmi

They have created their own reality on their own planet (Fierce). They can reconcile their attacks on others, by deeming them to be in ‘defense’ of Adam. Adam has had a path strewn with rose petals. The powers at both American Idol and Sony have given him more than any new artist has received, at least in my memory.

News flash! Adam isn’t under attack. Adam has powerful people fully committed to his success. Glamberts can now concentrate on supporting their guy, and leave the rest the **** alone.

          • Salleyanne

            Ain’t gonna happen.

          • muzikizmi

True. Cults are rarely broken without intervention.

        • Fabgab

I’m one of the “sane” fans and lemme tell ya– we’ve tried to talk sense into the BSC fans but it is impossible to reason with people who operate so far outside the realm of reality. The crazies tend to dismiss all of us “sane” fans as “haters” along with anyone else who criticizes Lambert or any of his BSC fans. So don’t worry @Ross you’re in good company. Apparently I’m a recognized “hater” as well despite my paid membership to the Adam Lamber fan club (insert eye roll here.)

I find quotes like “u have dissed the wrong person, us Glamberts will not let this go!” extremely disturbing. That is one of the reasons I refuse to embrace the term “Glambert.” I do not want to be associated with that insanity.

The good news is that I started a thread for “sane” fans on the AL fan club site and people are coming out of the woodwork who hate the BSC antics as much as I do and who want to have critical discussions about Lambert without being attacked by the herd. I used to think there were only a few of us sane fans out there but actually there are a ton.

          • ross

            That’s really good news, Fabgab.

(Hey, what do you call a thread for sane fans, anyway? Without insulting the rest of the fans, I mean?)

I’m glad you found some people more like yourself. The crazies are depressing.

          • http://topidolblog.com TopIdol

But don’t a lot of the crazy fans believe themselves to be sane? There must be some who end up in that thread that should not be there!

          • Fabgab

The thread is called “The Adam Lambert Debate Club” and I had to be very careful about how I worded my original post in order to deter the crazies without offending them.

The discussions there have really taken off and so far we’ve had no trolls. It’s pretty amazing actually.

          • Fabgab

But don’t a lot of the crazy fans believe themselves to be sane? There must be some who end up in that thread that should not be there!

You would think so. If they have posted on that thread they are hiding themselves remarkably well by not doing any of the usual fantard preaching and bullying.

          • Zowiecat

Interesting FabGab, maybe I will have to join the fan club and check it out!

        • MissMyEm

It frustrates me that everyone seems to think they have to apologize. Someone needs to manufacture some chill pills and toss them to that crowd.

          • Miz

I wish people would just start telling them to F off. I can’t even laugh at them anymore. They are terrorists. They’re bad manipulative children who are being coddled and will end up killing their own mothers.

The result for me is that whenever I hear their god on the radio I change the station. All his voice or face conjures up for me is all the evil of his BSC fans.

          • rehabilitard

Only Adam never has to apologize. Because he is always either misquoted or misunderstood.

          • sj

Miz, I change the station too – at the first recognizable chord of an Adam Lambert song. It’s a gut-clenching reaction usually accompanied by an audible “ugh!”

I really feel sorry for the crap that other artists and their fans have to endure from this obviously insane group. I know there are some sane fans, but the crazies are so loud, no one hears anything but them.

It amazes me that Lambert hasn’t tried to reign in these crazies. He has to know what is going on. Keep it up and no journalist will give him the time of day. Why would they want the grief these nutcases cause. There are many others in the business that are just as good and wouldn’t give the media the grief that BSC Lambert fans cause. Why would any of his friends even say anything about him as whatever they say is taken out of context by the crazies?

Funny how they denounce bullying, yet do exactly that because we all don’t worship the almighty Adam.

So I figure this is as good a place as any to look for love, right? So all you lesbian and bisexual women, come check me out!

I am 5’3, 170 (yes I will go on a diet if you ask nicely), 29 years old, Medium skinned African- American. Short black hair (it isn’t like it is my twatter photo anymore, as I made a vain and foolish attempt to cut it like Adam’s emo ‘do). Fun,off beat, great sense of humor.

DISCLAIMER: No, I am not crazy. I just want my next gf to be an Adam fan. Plus, I haven’t had sex in months.

As tempting as this offer is…

      • nonna-muss

Awww, go for it Suenigma! lol. I do find Stockygalore intriguing in a psychologist to patient kind of way. I think my next question has to be, where did she post her “looking for love on Planet Fiierce” ad?

      • STOCKYGALORE

        I am most certainly serious

    • Salleyanne

      Where’s Dee and her scepter?

      • STOCKYGALORE

I thought people might think I was nuts for posting this LOL. I have the imagination of say, a 5 year old. Seriously. Hell, I have no friends anywhere. I have a big mouth and I don’t mind pissing people off with my opinions LOL. I know I am a good person at heart though, and that’s all that matter. Good that I’ve learned to survive alone. Sometime you have to do that, and it only makes you stronger. Hell, half the people on here don’t even like me. Learning not to care though. I do not like getting into other people’s businness either. I have a pretty messy family, and extended family, but I don’t associate with them too too heavily…but you can’t lie to the authorities. I’d be charged with aiding child endangerment.

I like looking at the Glambulge. He is phenomenal. Never seen anything like him before. Must be a Planet Fiercian thing. I do believe Adam to have been left on the Lamberts’ doorstep by Fiercians because they are a selfless people and they knew we Earthlings needed someone like him. They left him with the restriction that he transform only the enlightened into Fiercians and bring them back with him.

Now, have I liked everything Adam has done/said? No, I have not. I am not a sheep, and he wouldn’t want me to be. He has the right to do/say as he pleases, but I also have the right to disagree with him. But at the end of the day I love him, and am proud to be a part of his Glamily, and that is all that matters. The rest is cray cray ownership crap. For some, the tardism is just so deep, that they have muddled fantasy with reality, let it run them crazy, but they don’t FEEL crazy because crazy people don’t often know that they are crazy.

        i like em young.

Shall we do a countdown (sorry, don’t know how to quote):

[Blake McGrath] asked [Mia] Michaels to be his artistic and creative director, likening her role to Canadian choreographer Laurie Ann Gibson, who orchestrated most of Lady Gaga’s outrageous videos.

“We want to shake the world, you know — do what Laurie Ann has done for Gaga. We just want to do something completely different, especially on the male side,” says McGrath, who adds he is also looking for a U.S. label and management.

“There’s really no male artist doing it and it’s something outside of the box that’s still in your face but still beautiful and creative and not tacky. Adam Lambert does it but it’s cheesy and it’s just theatre and it’s wrong.”

    http://www.thestar.com/entertainment/television/article/879109–sytycd-canada-judge-battled-drug-addiction

For the record, I think McGrath is an over-rated choreographer and a passive-aggressive judge.

in adam’s defense, i doubt he knew the kid was only 16yrs old. but that goes to show that picking random folks in the audience to shove your tonge down their throats will cause some issues (eventually). didnt Akkon get into trouble for bringing underage girls on the stage during his concert? adam is not the first or last performer to kiss, grope his audience. having said that, its still a lame, trite way to proclaim your “sexual freedom” or “individuality”. (and before anyone jumps to calm me a prude…. dont worry, im a big whore)

and speaking of lame, twitter has really taken an ugly form. instead of people just reporting nonsense, it has become a great avenue for stalking and harrassment. dont BSC people get tired of their own craziness after a while. its not just crazy glamberts, its all the loonies out there.

    • Blue Eyes

I agree with you about Twitter. If I was an Idol or a celeb, I would seriously be frightened of some of these nuts on Twitter. The OTT tarding is bad, but it’s the ones who think they are in a real relationship with their Idol that is the most scary.

      • wino

can you block incoming tweets? as a celeb, i would be worried about tards turned stalkers. plus, any twitter “controversy” has the ability to go viral and get picked up by the national news.

        • Blue Eyes

You can block someone from tweeting you and you won’t
receive any of the blocked person’s tweets.

I’m sure celebs do block the truly crazy people from
tweeting them. Some of them are really creepy.

  • http://8sourcandy.wordpress.com/ 8sourcandy

I simply hold a different opinion. I don’t know why that concept can’t be respected. I have kissed people without asking them for their medical records. I am not going to be a hypocrite and say how disgusting it is, because I’ve done it too. Am I the only one here that’s had random encounters? Adam has been touring for months, he kissed three audience members. It is hardly a staple of his act. Or proof of anything, other than he is a sexually free person with like minded audiences and this exchange between them makes for a fun show. It is their experience after all, not yours.

I find some comments directed at me to be passive aggressive and in some cases, badgering. I have deliberately ignored comments from Nerdgirl since I’ve come back, because I prefer not to engage with her. I think if your comment to someone is ignored repeatedly it’s because that person doesn’t want to engage, and you should respect that not continually attack their opinions or intrude in conversations they are having with other people just to antagonize them into responding to you. She has been seeking out my attention for days, and last night I gave it to her. I added my trademark sarcasm as a bonus. :) And no Margie, I wasn’t drunk, just annoyed with her pestering me. (your righteous indignation would have been more effective if you weren’t employing the same tactics you are accusing me of to make your point.)

I am not a glambert, but I do like Adam Lambert. That puts me in the minority here, I think many of you can realate to what that feels like–having entire message boards shoving their opions in your face, telling you that your guy sucks and theirs is better. Many of you came here because of your frustration in being the minority elsewhere. Please take that into consideration when judging me.

In spite of a few posters that I would prefer not engaging with, (Nerdgirl and Katie112) I do find many people here to be very bright, funny and interesting. I welcome intelligent debate on topics of importance and enjoy being playful, silly and non-combative.

Maybe we need more Gokey posts to unify us

Off to work now, hope you all have a great day! :)

    • old bat

Actually, I rather agree the whole brouhaha about this kissing is a mole-mountain. Adam’s not the first or only singer to randomly snog people during a show; people sometimes enjoy a casual snog with strangers without thinking overmuch of it. Not my thing personally, but different mores, and it’s not like people don’t know that Adam does that at his concerts. Person said no thanks, that’s all, didn’t seem upset or offended.

The glamberts shrieking for his head is one thing, people getting all up in Adam’s beeswax over the Horror, the Horror, of his kissing strangers during a performance? Uh, whatever.

      • MissMyEm

My belief is that everyone has a right to their opinion and certainly anyone who feels
that what Adam did was sexually liberating has a right to feel that way. Now I may not be
27, but I do remember what I was like. In those days we were very sexually liberated
but I don’t recall any band or singer shoving their unwanted tongue down someone’s mouth.
At worst, they broke guitars. Some of them were most likely stoned out of their mind
while performing yet still I don’t recall any tongue bathing.

So my opinion is that what Adam is doing is mainly for attention. I have felt, since the moment he walked out on that Idol stage, that he loved the attention and would do whatever it took to get that attention. So for me, this doesn’t really sit well. And while I’m older now and this stuff to me is very juvenile…I really don’t think if any singer did this it would be a turn on to me nor would I consider it being sexually liberated. I don’t care if it’s Jon Bon Jovi or Joe Jonas or Jack Johnson or Willie Nelson or Enrique Iglesias or Adam Levine. To me, it’s just immature and not necessary to enhance a performance. And if truth be
told, since we are all entitled to have opinions and since the discussion is about Adam’s antics, I find Adam quite garish and gross and very hard on the eyes and for me, for him to
do shenanigans like this, is just a turn off. And all of this, not Adam’s voice, but all of Adam’s behavior is why I am not a fan.

And for this hippie who went to Woodstock and was fairly wild in her day…it is just not
        something I can applaud.

I am sorry if anyone is offended by this opinion, but that’s where it is at and it has nothing whatsoever to do with being sexually liberated….or lack thereof.

    • et

Well, my only comment is that going out to a club and getting drunk and making out with someone is, in my opinion, different than approaching possibly unwilling strangers during a concert and shoving your tongue down their throat. I think we’re talking about two different things here. I don’t think it’s being “sexually liberated,” I think it’s being “Look! I’m edgy!” I don’t think anyone would raise an eyebrow if he was making out with someone in a club. But going up to random audience members is way, way different.

      • et

And let me add that the gist of the original posting about this was that the Glamberts were freaking out on the guy that turned him down – which was certainly on topic in a “When Glamberts Attack” post. My point was only that I don’t see how mutually making out in a club equates with finding random people to go try to make out with during a concert. I’m a detail girl and all that, heh.

        • rehabilitard

Exactly! I made OP because stupid Glamberts were attacking this guy
on Twitter. It is none of their business that he refused to be kissed.

    • jukejoint

Oh. Sarcasm. Is that what we’re calling it now?

Instead of maybe resorting to the lowest common denominator and calling people who don’t agree with you sexually frustrated?

      • jukejoint

Sorry. Forgot to add the smilie at the end that makes it all “sarcasm.”

I will do it again. Wouldn’t want to leave out my “sarcasm.”

Oh. Sarcasm. Is that what we’re calling it now?

Instead of maybe resorting to the lowest common denominator and calling people who don’t agree with you sexually frustrated? :-)

    • J

I have no problem with Adam or anyone else kissing someone who wants to be kissed. Being in the audience does not automatically mean that someone wants to swap spit. The two descriptions of the kissing incidents that I read here got to me for a few reasons. None of those reasons involve being sexually frustrated or a prude. Meeting someone in a club, being mutually attracted and making out on the dance floor doesn’t bother me at all. I don’t even care if a woman or man wants to follow their favorite artists around and sleep with every member of the band. If they’re all adults, all having fun and all giving consent then I say go for it.

My problem with what Adam did is that he put people in an awkward position. Matthew was forced to make a public apology for making a very private decision to remain faithful to his partner. Adam isn’t the one who attacked Matthew online but he does know the nature of his fan base. By trying to kiss someone who wasn’t willing, Adam put him in the direct line of fire from his Glamberts. The second story about the young boy made me cringe even more. That boy may have wanted to kiss Adam but I got the impression he was pressured after reading “He was pushed to the front and didn’t know why” and “Was scared he would get in trouble with his parents”.

You can call me morally superior, sexually frustrated or anything else you want. In my world it is never appropriate for a 28 year old man to put a 16 year old kid in a position like that. I understand that Adam is “sexually liberated and edgy”. I understand that this is all a concert stunt. There is just no way for Adam to know before shoving his tongue down an audience member’s throat if that person wants the kiss, accepts it due to pressure or if that person is old enough to offer consent.

8sourcandy, I’m asking you to think about it this way for a minute. What if Kris, David, Lee, Danny etc grabbed a 16 year old girl and kissed her during a concert? Would that be liberated, free or edgy? Even if the girl wanted that kiss it would still be creepy and wrong.

    • Blue Eyes

Give me a break, 8sourcandy! You are here baiting people and getting a kick out of it.

I simply hold a different opinion. I don’t know why that concept can’t be respected

      Pot calling the kettle black.

Just because Adam (and his fans) considers this to be edgy or entertainment does not negate the fact that he invaded someones space and his BSC fans harrassed and attacked an innocent victim. If he was any kind of man at all, he would call them out on it and tell them to knock it off, but I really don’t expect that to happen.

    • Trish

Are you not the same person who majorly dissed me and my red boots a while back because I dared to criticize Adam? I believe you called me tacky, and when I joked that you were ” just jealous” you got all in a huff. I have no hard feelings though! Seriously. :-)

@Sourcandy, I just read your last blog. You said: “Detractors need to get laid. They are a bunch of sexually frustrated old ladies that spend their spare time compiling STD stats and lording their moral superiority over us orally-free, sexually liberated types!”

How immature of you. Please, don’t forget that you are an old lady yourself. You are sexually liberated? lol. That is just until you get your first STD. That is if you do get laid.

Sorry everyone, I just hate hypocrites.

    • saskin

Hmmm. I didn’t read her blog, but is seems that what she is saying is not personal, whereas what you are saying is. I know, for one, that 8sourcandy is not old (neither anyone else, that is silly), and she is very pretty; she can get “laid” if she wants to.

      • Lamberkitten

Saskin, I find your comment right on the money. I have been reading comments here, and Sour’s blog. Since she has returned here, she has done well not to react personally to some of the baiting comments directed towards her. I have met her and she is all that you say, plus she is very fair. And, she may hate me for divulging this but I will take the risk, beneath that sharp exterior she is one of the most genuinely sweet people I have ever met.

what bothers me is always big generalization because they are rarely true. Because someone thinks that tongue diving attempts at strangers is not an appropriate behavior would mean that the person is sexually frustrated? That’s ridiculous

      • Fabgab

Um. Wow. I go away for a day and all kinds of stuff happens on here.

Never really thought about the “tongue diving” all that much before. Just thought of it as another concert stunt to shake things up and that it kind of fit in with the energy of Adam’s shows.

Reading about what happened in Australia though I have to say that it might not be such a good idea. I agree that it can really put people in an awkward position. I doubt that Adam intended to put anyone in an awkward position but that doesn’t change the fact that it did. I doubt he thought it through that much at all. Hopefully he learned his lesson and will exercise more caution in the future.

One of the things I love about Adam is that he’s a little impulsive but that sure does make his actions come back to bite him on the ass a lot.

btw- haven’t read through the whole thread so I don’t know what went down with sourcandy but I like her and i like y’all. Can we stop generalizing about each other and get back to making fun of fantards together?

    • mtlfan

“push to front by glamberts” …. lol it sounds like an offering and it kind of gross me out

    • Fabgab

I have to say the fact that a herd of female fans pushed this boy to the front and had their hands on his head to “encourage” the kiss really really bothers me. There is something about the herd mentality and pressuring someone who may or may not be willing into any type of sexual activity (even a kiss) that is really seriously NOT okay. REALLY not okay!!

I hope Adam was made aware of this dynamic and stops this “tongue diving” nonsense. I’m surprised it didn’t come back to bite him any sooner.

I see some familiar names posted comments on that article.

Speaking of Glamberts attacking, did anyone see Jim Cantiello’s interview yesterday with Josh (I forget his last name) from MTV? He talkes about Glamberts getting mad at him when he says anything nice about Kris. So in case anyone needs official confirmation that this happens, and isn’t just a figment of the imagination of Kris fans, there it is. He also says they seem to think he’s an Adam hater, based on some of his early recaps from Season 8, before he began to dig Adam.

That’s interesting that he says this Ross. If this is the guy that does AINow on Twitter…I would have said he was a Glambert. He’s always talking Adam. Unless I am thinking of someone else. Sorry, I wasn’t clear about who was interviewing who, I guess. Skinner was interviewing Cantiello. When I said “he,” I was referring to Cantiello. I don’t get it. In what world is it okay to just go for it and kiss someone because you think they’re hot? Maybe I’m old fashioned but I always thought kissing involved mutual consent and some indication that both parties were interested in locking lips. I’m not saying this just because it’s Adam. If some stranger on the street walked up and tried to kiss me I’d smack them and maybe call the cops. It would make no difference if they were gay, straight, ugly, hot, a celeb or not. Unless I know a person and have an idea of where their lips may have been recently, I don’t want them kissing me.

          • http://8sourcandy.wordpress.com/ 8sourcandy

I think Matthew knew who Adam was because of the big “A” on his hat, and the big “Adam Lambert Glam Nation” sign. So, he wasn’t a complete stranger walking up to him on the street.

Billy Joel once tried to kiss me and I turned my head because I had a boyfriend at the time. However, I was still flattered and obviously I’m still yapping about it.

(I was an extra in one of his videos) Still bragging about that too. lol!

          • J

Think about it this way. Would it be okay for me to walk up to David Cook in the middle of his concert and kiss him on the mouth? I know his name. I know that I think he’s hot. Silly question isn’t it? I’d be tossed out by security at the very least, possibly even have charges pressed against me. Aside from the legalities involved, it’s just wrong. I don’t know if he’s in a relationship. I don’t know if he’s attracted to me. I don’t have any right to touch him or make sexual advances.

          • mtlfan

            Exactly J.
I just don’t understand the kick of ‘tongue diving’ with complete strangers. Practically, you never know what kind of germs/virus (people can be contagious before being sick) you’re going to get and he should be responsible to stay in good health during his tour. I find this utterly stupid..

          • Pandora

Yeah, Mitcham knew who Adam was. That doesn’t give Adam free rein to stick his tongue down the guy’s throat. If ANYONE did that to me he’d get a swift knee to the balls.

        • nonna-muss

          @8Sourcandy

It’s one thing to “make a move” by talking to someone, asking for their number or heck, you’re a 70′s girl, Adam could have asked Matthew what his sign is :) . Trying to shove your tongue in someone’s mouth without their permission is not “making a move”.

I agree with J and her analogy. I’d have bitch slapped the shit out of him (or anyone else) who tried something like that. Just because you know who someone is, doesn’t mean you know them. I’m also a big Cook fan, but if he came and tried to shove his tongue down my throat he’d get smacked. I know who he is, but I don’t know him.

Have the lines in all of this really become that blurred for you Sour? You honestly think what Adam did was cool? You think the guy tweeting about it is wrong? Dare I say you’ve had too much Kool-Aid?

          • http://8sourcandy.wordpress.com/ 8sourcandy

Maybe I just have a different opinion about this. Maybe I’m a freer person in that regard. You’re acting morally superior here, I find that uncomfortable. I don’t think there was anything wrong with what he did, not because I’m “blurry” but because I just feel that way. I never liked Madonna, but I always supported the sexual freedom displayed. You may not feel this way, that’s fine, but I do.

When someone makes a pass at me and I turn them down I don’t go on twitter publicly reiterating “no, thanks.”

            I don’t consume processed foods, so I don’t drink kool-aid.

          • alicat10025

I don’t think this guy was given the option to not go on Twitter to defend himself. I’d bet he’s somewhat well known in Australia. And people were attacking him for refusing Adam’s kiss. why shouldn’t he go on twitter to explain why he was refusing.

And having read through a lot of what’s being written here, I am still grossed out by tongue diving. The impression I’m getting from you, sour, is that you think it’s ok for Adam to go tongue-diving at guys at his conert, even without the recipient being willing. but if Kris, Cook, Lee, or any of the known “straight” former idol contestants would do the same to female members of their audiences, I doubt it would be looked at as something meant strictly for fun, but they would be accused of harrassing the female they went after.

I have no problems with Adam kissing Tommy, or anyone else involved with his concert/production, as they are more likely to be aware in advance that this is going to happen. The random people in the audience – that’s the real problem for me.

I would never let someone kiss me just because I happen to be at their concert. i go to concerts for te music, not to be kissed or touched by the performer/artist/singer/musician.

        • Salleyanne

How was Adam suppose to know he was spoken for? He saw a hot guy, made a move and got shot down, it happens. For the guy to tweet about it…that’s the PR stunt or he’s backing burnering the offer.

It doesn’t make any difference if Adam “knew he was spoken for” or not. It is Adam’s PR shtick not the one in the audience. Grabbing someone and trying to stick his tongue down someone’s throat is not “making a move”. It is assault pure and simple. Making a move doesn’t involve physical touching with someone you don’t know. Sorry this guy went to see a concert, not get assaulted be a stranger (and Adam is a stranger to everyone but his personal friends and family). He is an entertainer and that is all. He will not date you, he will not be your lover, he will not be your friend. He is in it for the fame nothing more nothing less. It’s really sad that Matthew has to put up with this crap from the Glam worshipers. He is not God. Not everyone worships at the alter of St. Adam. Sorry Matthew for all your grief. Hope you get to enjoy another concert someday without the crap.

          • michelle

I think going into the audience and kissing people is stupid for all of the reasons mentioned but I would only call it assault if after being turned down he went ahead and did it any way. He tried, got shot down and moved on to someone who was willing.

As for the glamberts going after Matthew for not kissing Adam-I’ve said it elsewhere and I’ll say it here, the glamberts have a large number of crazy folk in the fold but the ignorant fucks far out number them. They don’t get that when a gay man kisses another gay man who is in a realtionship it’s the same thing as if their husbands/boyfriends were kissing a straight woman. Some people consider intimate physical contact with anyone-even a Rawk God- outside of the relationship disrespectful.

Instead of chastising Matthew, being super duper gay activists and all, they should be applauding him for showing gay people can and do take their commitments to each other seriously. Showing that love, regardless of sexual orientation is that deep. God, the glamberts are so stupid.

      • Nich

        Exactly!

        • et

Uck, maybe I have a skewed perspective because I’m a germaphobe but… that whole tongue diving/kissing “strangers” thing is just gross. If anyone tried that on me I’d smack ‘em. Even David Cook :)

          • nerdgirl

Germaphobe is good. In this day and age germaphobe is the only way to survive. MRSA, VISA, VRSA, above mentioned herpes and hepatitis. Even kiss from the RAWK GAWD cannot justify risking your life.

          • et

My brother just got over MRSA. Picked it up at the gym. Told me he wanted me to teach him how to be a germaphobe now. That was some *awful* stuff.

There is nothing “being freer” about condoning a stranger touching someone who doesn’t want to be touched. No “moral superiority” here, just common courtesy. Adam needs to learn this. First an obnoxious pap now someone in the audience. He himself has said he loses control when performing. Maybe he needs to grow up (after all he is almost 30) and learn not everyone likes to be touched by strangers. Each of us has a personal space and he needs to learn that before he does get slapped with a lawsuit.

          • JaneRochester

            Just ask Blue Man Group.

      • B York

        @J

Totally agree. Why should anyone need to apologize for what is a gross invasion of personal space.
Whether Matthew had a boyfriend or not, why should he feel that he offended by not letting Lambert kiss him.

I just find it so weird that the BSC fans would attack him for not opening his mouth to Lambert. That’s just deranged.

I’m no homophibian, but I find this antic to be really offensive. If Lambert wants to get his rocks off, do it after hours and not during the concert. Nobody should ever be put in the spot like that.

        • Verbally Dyslexic

Taking Matthew to task for not letting Adam kiss him during the show is signature BSC Glambert behaviour. To them it’s an offense to Adam, and therefore an offense to the Glamberts for implying their RAWK GAWD is not worthy of some onstage PDA by this random person. I mean, who is this Matthew guy anyway? Some Olympic gold medallist? Pfft! Who cares? He isn’t even on People’s Most Beautiful List. Who was? That’s right, Adam Lambert. ;)

    • Daf

Oh, BARF-O-RAMA. I’d rather go into the men’s room at Grand Central Station and scrub out every urinal in the place with my toothbrush then brush my teeth with it than I would have Adam Lambert put his mouth and tongue anywhere near me. BLECH BLECH BLECH BLECH. I’d imagine kissing him would be like licking a petri dish.

      • http://8sourcandy.wordpress.com/ 8sourcandy

I have have the impression you’re not Adam’s type, so you needn’t worry dear.

        • Daf

Nor do I think you’re his type, either, dear, as you are the one who tards over him non-stop.

    • Nich

Well oh snap! I guess you should plan these sort of things out ahead of time!

      • ross

I guess nobody ever told Adam that kissing on the mouth is something reserved for consenting adults and not something you do because you’re the star of the show and you see a hot guy in the audience. Talk about boundary issues. Not only invading someone else’s private space, but taking advantage of one’s power in such a situation. I’m really glad that guy refused to kiss him. It was totally the correct response. Also, the fact that he mentioned having a boyfriend, implying that, in kissing Adam, he would be unfaithful, indicates how intimate many people feel a kiss to be. And it serves to point up how inappropriate it is for Adam to be doing this. Hugging people is okay, but the so-called “tongue diving” is something you do with intimate others, not strangers.

Frankly I can’t even believe I’m writing about this. Most of Adam’s controversies are ridiculous to me, and this is no exception. Still I feel I had to say something because some people don’t seem to get it. Picture Danny Gokey or Kris Allen going into the audience and just randomly mouth kissing girls they happen to find cute, whether the girls agree to it or not. If that’s a disgusting image to anyone, then what Lambert does should not get a pass from you.

        • Salleyanne

So true ross, but I doubt that the herd will get it.

        • Verbally Dyslexic

I don’t the big fuss about it. Okay, so this tongue-diving or audience kissing isn’t my cuppa, and I tend to gravitate towards musicians who don’t incorporate such gimmicks into their live acts. If they do it while sleepwalking, then there’s not much that can be done. (I hear you’re not supposed to wake people up when they’re sleepwalking) ;)

That said, Adam is about gimmicks in his shows, whether or not they are enjoyed by people who are not his fans. His fans don’t have a problem with it, BSC and the sane ones. He is also not the first one to do such things during live shows.

All this concern about catching germs and diseases by kissing a stranger is kind of funny to me. Hey, Kris Allen admitted to sleeping nude in a hotel bed! A bed slept in by many other strangers before him. Think of the germs he picked up. Gross!

          • ross

I think the point is that Adam’s fans were harassing someone because he refused to participate, which is as far as I know his right.

          • http://topidolblog.com TopIdol

The harassment by the Glamberts to this guy was bullshit and uncalled for. Of course, it does not surprise me in the least.

          • Nich

What does sleeping in a bed nude have to do with anything? Who the hell cares? Are we talking about that? Why does it have to be introduced into this conversation? The leap to transmitting diseases was a huge one and I personally don’t like the assumption that Adam *has* anything to give anyone. However the guy was allowed to say on his twitter, that hey, maybe not everyone wants to get a random kiss from a singer.

          • nerdgirl

OK, I will be a nag – sorry to inform you but a lot of infections that are transmitted trough body fluids (such as saliva) and mucous membranes (such as in your mouse) are on the rise and these are serious infections, many are un-treatable, so I don’t think it is quite funny or silly as people might think. Just my professional opinion. Adam should worry that he would pick something up from a stranger or is he invincible?

          • Verbally Dyslexic

I guess my attempt at humour failed miserably. I can’t joke about Kris Allen, his aversion to showers and admission to exposing his skin to the elements? Can’t I like someone and make fun of them at the same time? I thought with the worry over Adam picking up a disease or two from his shows, there would be the same worry over Kris. No need to explain, I’m sure there’s a huuuuge difference, or the way I phrased it was wrong, or there’s no need to mother Kris and worry about his health.

I already stated my point about Glamberts harrassing the guy in another comment, so won’t rehash it here. But the discussion had already moved past the reactions of Glamberts on to how disrespectful Adam is for trying to mack on someone in the audience. From what I have read, Matthew declined, Adam politely moved on. Some people here can’t seem to.

          • undercooked

If it was up to me, I would prefer Adam not go out into the audience and kiss people. I’m not a fan of that. But I agree with Verbally Dyslexic, it’s part of Adam’s persona, so, eh, not a big deal as long as the people he kisses are ok with it.

And Lamberkitten, LOL! yes, I was clubbing in the late 80s and early 90s, and yes, I recall kissing some people I just met. Would I do it today? No. But I think we all get more conservative as we get older.

There are a few wacko Glamberts out there who will stick their nose in everything Adam does. There’s not much that can be done about them. It’s a burden Adam will have to bear. He brings some of this stuff on himself, but that is something he will have to learn.

Now back to the kissing. Did the BSC Glamberts really hassle Mitcham or did they just ask him questions? Sometimes when I go look up some of the crazy reported here it doesn’t live up to the hype or it has far fewer people involved in the BSC then represented by some of the posts here.

          • alicat10025

Someone sleeping nude in a hotel bed, where the sheets have been washed and likely disinfected to some extent between hotel guests is not even comparable to kissing a random person in the audience during a performance.

        • Nich

ITA if this had been any of the straight male Idols doing that with random female fans people would be in such an uproar! There’d be nothing “cute” or “hot” about it. They’d picketed or sued. And like you I can’t believe this has blown up into such a big argument.

          • http://topidolblog.com TopIdol

I don’t think reiterating it on Twitter was a big deal because he probably didn’t see him after the show. I bet Lambert was thrilled to see him in the audience, though. So no Glamberts filmed this incident? I am positively SHOCKED.

Now I would rather everyone stopped arguing about this before it gets out of hand! Go look at the photos of the Luke Perry frauen! Or read the ANTM recaps!

          • Pandora

. From what I have read, Matthew declined, Adam politely moved on. Some people here can’t seem to.

Well, the title of this post is “When Glamberts Attack” and the poor guy was attacked by the Glamberts for having the nerve to reject their Glamgod.

          • Lamberkitten

This is aimed at no-one in particular, and putting all the Adam shenanigans aside, in my clubbing days part of the fun of a night out was meeting people you fancied and snogging someone without knowing too much about them. Admittedly I originally hail from Shameless territory, Manchester UK, but surely human nature for young people is the same world over? Puhlease someone tell me I am not the only one who kissed (not talking about sex) someone in a club without requiring medical records beforehand? C’mon. Spill! lol

          • ross

but surely human nature for young people is the same world over?

Ha. It was the same for me, Lamberkitten. Most of the time I did talk to them a bit, first, however. lol Also, I doubt I was totally sober any time it happened.

Like I say, I really don’t care what Adam does (and I’m getting tired, lately, of the whole topic of Adam and his supposed controversies), but this just happens to gross me out. If he were to give people a peck on the lips, like some glittery version Richard Dawson on the old Family Feud TV show, that probably would be different. But it’s just tacky to shove your tongue into strangers’ mouths at your show, and to make it like a regular feature of the show (as opposed to it happening once, spontaneously). I can’t even explain further than that. It is just wicked unappealing. As we say in Boston.

          • Lamberkitten

Phew! Thank you Ross, was starting to think I WAS the only slutty one. That was quite chivalrous for a Boston guy. Yeah, I’ve seen Cheers so I know all about y’all. Lol :)

(I hate when there isn’t a reply option at the bottom of the box you wish to respond to)

“Popular music, has always been for young, cool people and it’s been that way ever since rock and roll was created back in the 50′s. Not being offensive or negative, just honest”

Not in the seventies. when I was growing up, Rock was king and pop was crap. You were considered a sell-out if you were top 40. The eighties changed that landscape with the invention of MTV, suddenly radio had competition and ROCK became hairbands and they morphed into grunge. Then everything spiraled out of control with the domination of hip-hop. Now Justin Bieber is the KING OF POP and pop is considered cool.

    *weeping*

For the record…no matter how old I get I will always be cool.

    • Blue Eyes

Any kind of music can make it to Top 40. Top 40 is based on what’s popular and it can be any genre…rock, country, dance, R&B, pop.

70′s music…what was popular was disco/R&B (Bee Gees, Donna Summer), soft rock/pop (John Denver, Carol King, James Taylor) and glam rock (Elton John, Bowie, Queen, Alice Cooper, New York Dolls). So, there really was a variety of music styles in the 70′s. It wasn’t all rock.

      • B York

You forgot to mention progressive rock, Blue Eyes. Genesis, Blue Oyster Cult, ELO, ELP, Gentle Giant, etc were also big in the 70s.

And the late 70s gave rise to punk and reggae (or at least international exposure).

        • Blue Eyes

“You forgot to mention progressive rock, Blue Eyes.
Genesis, Blue Oyster Cult, ELO, ELP, Gentle Giant, etc were also big in the 70s.”

Yes, you are correct, B York!

      • http://8sourcandy.wordpress.com/ 8sourcandy

The late seventies is when Disco took over, with punk looming in the background. I remember feeling conflicted, I was about 14 and you had to declare being “rock” or “disco” you couldn’t be both, (no surprise, I liked both) lol!

(please note the above is a recollection, I am not encouraging a debate on origins of progressive rock or punk music) :)

        • B York

I loved it all too, 8sourcandy. I could do a high school radio show on Emerson, Lake and Palmer and sneak into uni campus discos to dance to the latest KC and the Sunshine Band.

Plus I lived close to Montreal, one of the epic centres of the best disco night clubs in all of North America. Me and my girlfriends would go there to dance our asses off.

Me and the boyfriend took in fabulous concerts – David Bowie, Genesis, Bruce Springsteen, George Thorogood, Bob Marley, 10 cc, Queen, etc.

I can only vouch for the late 70s and onwards but for sure the music was diverse and great.

          • http://8sourcandy.wordpress.com/ 8sourcandy

At 14 I used fake id to get into a club called 2001 Space Odyssey (where they filmed

      • Blue Eyes

We always like to think we’re cool in our own eyes, no matter how old we get, but to others eyes, we are not looked upon as cool and the music business does not cater to older people. Popular music is always associated with rebellion, teenage angst and young love & sex.

        Just a dose of reality.

During my leave of absence from posting here new people have come along. I would like to direct this statement about fan wars to them–I do not follow American Idol contestants. I do not like American Idol. Adam Lambert is my only interest in regard to that show. Therefore, I see no need to attack other fans or the contestant they like. (except the ones held up as fodder)

So when I say Adam Lambert works twice as hard, I am referring to him working twice as hard as the TOP artists on the CHARTS who are enjoying HUGE success; Bieber, Katy Perry, Kesha…that sort of crap. I feel he is more talented then they are and is not getting the same inclusion and airplay. His songs aren’t the best, but they are better then the songs from the artists I’ve mentioned. I am not suggesting he is the only one being snubbed. I just don’t care about anyone else, or follow anyone else to know they are being snubbed.

Ross, I get that you like Kris, and for the record I have never said anything disparaging about him in all my time posting here. I once said I didn’t care for the way he sounded on a song, don’t remember which one, that is the extent of my negative commentary about him.

    On the subject of bullies:
I was the kid that fought with the bullies. I’ve always had very strong convictions about equality and fairness. I got my ass kicked because of it, but I never backed down.

I defend Adam because he’s always the one getting attacked and I don’t think he deserves it.

    • Verbally Dyslexic

How hard Adam works compared to other artists is a matter of opinion. How would you quantify how hard one artist works over others? Unless we’re comparing him to Lindsay Lohan. Heck, anyone is working twice as hard as Lilo just by blinking! :)

      • caspar

Really, sour, how do you know how hard Katy Perry (or whoever) works, or more to the point, how hard she had to work to get where she is? Lambert just wasn’t as lucky or pretty (or female at a time when female singers are popular)as she was, starting out. Who works harder now is a moot point; since he’s just starting, he ought to be working harder, shouldn’t he? He has a long way to go to match her success, and he has no hope of ever getting to Bieber status, no matter how hard he works or how much better his voice supposedly is.

As to the bullying, no idea what went on in his youth, but the combination of fat/ginger/bad teeth and skin/high voice could spell ‘target’ in any school in the world, regardless of his sexuality. It ain’t right, but it’s human nature.

        • http://8sourcandy.wordpress.com/ 8sourcandy

First, the expression “he works twice as hard for half as much” isn’t suppose to be taken literally.

The point is that it’s harder for him to get the same respect, inclusion, opportunities, that NON-IDOL artists get in the industry. No matter how HARD he works, he’ll always get less in return for it.

The evidence is that those artist, with crappy albums and limited talent are in fact, VERY successful.

          • Pandora

I don’t buy it. For MOST coming off of Idol, yes, but not for Adam Lambert. What other new artist ever got to close an awards show before their first album was even released?

          • undercooked

Don’t forget Cook got a SNL gig after his win. I thought that was a pretty big deal.

          • Blue Eyes

What holds Idol contestests back is the audience they attract. Doesn’t anybody wonder why the female Idols have done much better than the males? It’s because the females don’t attract the crazy fangirly middle-age and granny population that the males do.

Popular music, has always been for young, cool people and it’s been that way ever since rock and roll was created back in the 50′s. Not being offensive or negative, just honest.

          • http://8sourcandy.wordpress.com/ 8sourcandy

“Cook got a SNL gig after his win”

Way better exposure than the AMAs. I mean the show sorta sucks now (the guest host, makes or breaks it theses days) But I think it’s still one sweet gig.

    • undercooked

My impression is that men coming off of AI playing pop and rock have a harder time being accepted by radio then other male artists not from AI. The AI ladies; Jordin, Carrie, Kelly, and Fantasia, seem to be embraced more than the men.

Archie is struggling rignt now on radio and I think it is safe to say he is a better singer then the Biebs. Cook never got played by rock stations and I fear for his new album, based on Archie’s numbers. Daughtry gets played, but he is the exception to the rule. He came in fourth so perhaps he is considered too far removed from the AI winner’s circle to be tainted with AI cooties? :) And having said that, do rock stations play him?

      • http://8sourcandy.wordpress.com/ 8sourcandy

The sigma is very great and hinders them all. I have been reading a ton of material that supports this and it does worry me. I am not sure how any of them are gonna break on through to the other side, rock seems particularly elitist.

        • saskin

Yep. Most of the times it is almost impossible for Idols to get over the stigma and reach the rest of the population. Ask anyone what they think of AI and the look on their face will tell you how strong the stigma is. I know sometimes my comments rub the people on this board
the wrong way, but I am a non-fan and I share the public’s skepticism toward any singer coming out of Idol and I am not ready to give the benefit of the doubt to any Idol. Maybe with the exception of Carrie Underwood. But that doesn’t matter because I don’t listen to country music.

That said, Lambert had a lot of opportunities that those other artists did not. Katy Perry, Beiber, B.O.B., etc did not get to perform at the AMA’s let alone close the show. Neither were attached to a “blockbuster” movie ever. Neither were featured at and made the cover
of the Rolling Stone magazine (not that RS matters anymore, but still…). Etc. etc.

What I am trying to say is, even without the stigma Lambert is/was a tough sell. I don’t exactly know why. But I knew that he would be while I was watching him on AI. It might be his singing style. It is kinda abrasive. It is agitating rather than soothing. Which is not
necessarily a bad thing, but the way he sings, his voice never gets to that point where it is pleasing. After a point (like 30 seconds into any song he sings and yes that includes Mad World)
it almost becomes harassing. People pick up on that.

I don’t disagree that part of the reason might be homophobia. But singing is the most important thing.

          • http://topidolblog.com TopIdol

Those artists were also not promoting new albums. Typically, you need to me a legend, have received multiple nominations, or are promoting something new to get those prime performance slots. Lambert was releasing an album, and Sony was convinced he would be the next big thing.

          • saskin

Sure… let’s say even when they were promoting a new album they didn’t get to do those things?

          • http://8sourcandy.wordpress.com/ 8sourcandy

“What I am trying to say is, even without the stigma Lambert is/was a tough sell. I don’t exactly know why.”

I have determined these factors hindering Adam Lambert’s career:

            1. American Idol (It is just not cool)
            2. Former Broadway Chorus Boy (see above)
            3. Gay (if the USA was really okay with this, we’d have equal rights, we don’t, homophobia is prevalent)
            4. Polarizing Persona (he has a strong energy that some people respond to negatively)
            5. Poor Management team (they are not respected in the industry, so what clout or credibility do they bring?)
            6. Lack Luster Material (I have come to love many songs on FYE, but if I’m being objective, I think the material needed to be more intelligent. He was being compared to rock legends of the seventies, people were expecting that caliber, “If I had You” is not of that caliber and I think there was a sense of being let down)
            7. Unpreparedness (I honestly don’t think he expected to get as far as he did. I don’t think he was mentally prepared to take all this on so fast and it caught up with him at the AMAs)
            8. Poor Advisers (he gets crappy advice and no one progressive is at the reigns)
            9. Geek factor (He sometimes seems geeky and because the music industry is just high stakes high school, that is problematic)
            10. Doesn’t play an instrument (It shouldn’t matter cause his voice is a symphony, but it does)

Of course I think his talent trumps the entire list. I also think he’s smart and will figure this all out. Will he figure it out in time? Well, I guess that’s what keeps us watching…waiting to see.

(here’s where the cyber-bullying sockpuppets come out of trollsville to deem me a homphobe/hater….3….2…1! )

          • saskin

I think this is a very smart analysis 8sourcandy. I agree with all of them.

Somehow the Project Lambert didn’t deliver. Not that it failed, mind you. It just didn’t turn out to be as big as some hoped. So it is not exactly a failure either.

          • http://8sourcandy.wordpress.com/ 8sourcandy

            Saskin,

Thank you. I agree, not a failure, just not what was excepted based on the hype.

My favorite music is not represented on top 40 playlists. If Adam was able to start more obscurely, in a fringe genre and was given time to sort himself out in terms of his sound, he would have done much better with his debut album. I think electronic music (not really club stuff, more experimental/pop) would have been a better fit. His voice is suited for a classic rock sound, but rock is not what is used to be, and I don’t think his “persona” would be accepted by rock radio and it’s audience.

What sort of music (obscure or otherwise) do you think Adam is suited for?

          • saskin

@8sourcandy, I really don’t know. I wish I knew music business, because it fascinates me. But techno punk seems to be more his style. Rock is complicated because it is a team sport. Also I really don’t think he has a rock voice.

I think it was a mix of everything you said. He is too connected to Idol. He was marketed too heavily. He is more of a fringe singer than pop. I repeat myself but I really think he looked better on paper.

On an only semi-related note, I showed a friend of mine who does watch nor care for Idol the DeWyze song, and he said “So, the Idol winner needs autotune?”. People have quite a few prejudices about Idol contestants. One of them is that they should be able to sing. So they really need to be able to sing (and that includes Lambert and Bowersox too). And even if they can sing that won’t make anyone interested in them, it is just expected minimum. Also, people have very sensitive ears. They pick up on bullshit. (Not that one experiment proves these points but I conclude it based on my experience)

          • saskin

            … does not watch Idol…

          • MissMyEm

Maybe with the exception of Carrie Underwood. But that doesn’t matter because I don’t listen to country music.

It has always been my impression that Country music is far more accepting of newcomers, even if they come off singing shows (Miranda Lambert came in 3rd, I think on a show called Nashville Star), especially females, then Top 40 or Adult Contemporary formats.

And 8SourCandy, while I agree with many of your points as to why Adam is not more successful, I don’t think his career was or is hindered at all. However, I especially agree with your point #8 on having poor advisers. I think this stems from the fact that 19 is just not that savvy as they would like everyone to believe. I honestly think they miss the boat 95% of the time because they have blinders on and they refuse to remove them. I think they were spot on with Kelly and Carrie (again the female factor), but I think they’re totally missing the boat with others.

As for Adam, I do feel however, that while many in the country probably are homophobic, this has nothing to do with his success or lack thereof. And mind you, I am not saying Adam is not successful. Most of my friends who don’t watch or follow American Idol think he IS because of all the publicity he receives. But the fact remains that many of the things that hurt Adam, are brought about himself. There are numerous successful gay and lesbian performers in the industry so I don’t think being gay has hurt Adam as much as his fans think.

Adam is vocally talented, there’s no denying that. But, and I mean no offense, it is just not that pleasing to everyone. As an example…Josh Groban has an amazing voice, but he’s just not everyone’s cuppa, whereas Bob Dylan and Rod Stewart and Springsteen are not the most vocally adept, but they’re music icons. So I do think that is part of it too.

I just don’t think there’s any mystery to why Adam didn’t get this or do that or win this or get acknowledged for that. Sometimes it just doesn’t click with everyone. And it’s too soon to even make a call yet as to his future success. Adam hasn’t proven himself yet to the industry. He may have proven himself to his fans, but the industry is a harder nut to crack. If Adam perseveres then maybe in time he will be more popular, but only time will tell. And only Adam can learn how to play the game smartly.

I’m not taking anything away from Daughtry because he’s done amazingly well and his first album was one radio-friendly song after another… but I honestly believe that it helped him go out with that “shock boot” like he did – I think it erased some of the stigma because Idol “screwed” him.

I think that helped him and the fact as well, that 19 and RCA loved him and promoted him well. Now on the other hand, they never promoted Jennifer Hudson and didn’t even claim her til after she won an Oscar, but she too did not have that “Idol” stigma under her belt as well. But….Jamie Foxx is apparently a big Idol fan so I think it was he who auditioned both Fantasia and Jennifer (and for all anyone knows could have specifically requested them to audition) and some people, like Jamie, apparently don’t have a problem with the someone coming off American Idol. I also think in recent years, the stigma has gotten less and less than it the days of Seasons 1 and 2.

      • et

So while he certainly had an album to back it up, I think the sympathy/”he got screwed!” backlash did work in his favor. Just my opinion of course.

“I have determined these factors hindering Adam Lambert’s career:”

8sourcandy: I don’t see Adam’s career being hindered at all. What exactly do you expect from someone who you didn’t even know about just two years ago?
He has two songs playing on the radio, he has been touring for the past several months, he has another album in the works, he has tons of exposure in the media, for crying out loud. Where is he supposed to be besides all that?

          • http://8sourcandy.wordpress.com/ 8sourcandy

I have been critically observing the entire process for twenty months. I read all sides and have determined the factors that I listed as hindrances to his success. As for your “Where is he supposed to be besides all that?” question; he was expected by everyone but detractors to be at GaGa level by now. She started 10 minutes before him. ( btw. Bieber started 10 minutes after.) There have been missteps. I want him to succeed at a level that garners industry acceptance and respect. I want him to have longevity and security. I want him to live up to his talent, find and secure his place. I want him to be able to exhale. There are obstacles and I just want to identify them.

It’s really no different then going over a football scrimmage after a game.

(Is that a football term?) It may be, anyway my point is I like the strategy of it all. The business, how it works and when it doesn’t. It’s something we all have in common, is makes for less heated, more cerebral conversations.

I know he’s lucky to have what he has. I’m not trying to bite the hand that feeds him, I’m just noticing that it’s also the hand that’s choking him.

Do you think his career has lived up to the hype?

          • sj

I can understand and appreciate relishing and enjoying the strategy of it all when you put it that way. I suppose when I look at his career I see success relative to where he started. I didn’t catch on to your basic premise when you talked about hindrances.

I don’t think his career should have to live up to the hype. I think it should be as authentic as it can be. I view hype as a negative. Hype feeds delusion, fosters unrealistic expectations and creates an artificial environment. Hype is not the same as genuine excitement. It’s not the same as “buzz”.

If you want to talk hindrances, I think one of the dangers for Adam IS trying to live up to the hype, instead of growing organically, for want of a better word. He should ignore the hype if not renounce it completely. I’m not a fan right now because he strikes me as a cardboard cut out of his hyped self.

You’re certainly right about one thing: Adam Lambert gets a rise out of people :)

          • caspar

            Very wise words, sj.

But I get the strong impression Adam relishes the hype, imagines that he controls it (instead of the reverse) and will be quite unhappy when/if it dissipates.

“Hype feeds delusion, fosters unrealistic expectations and creates an artificial environment.”

I agree, but once you get caught in it, it’s hard to extract yourself gracefully. I wish it all came about more organically too. It’s too late for that now.

Maybe this part should be the reality show, I’m on the edge of my seat over all this nonsense. lol!

            Caspar,
I think glamberts who go around saying what “Adam thinks,” are crazy. I really don’t know what to make of a detractor who does. :)

“AI Cooties” is a beautiful way of putting it. I don’t understand the stigma. If a person is a good singer/performer, WTF cares how they came to public attention?

I am a huuuuuge reality TV snob, and for 6 years I sneered at AI as the favorite show of bonbon-eating grannies everywhere. Then, with the help of David Cook, I saw the light and am now a well-coverted fan. I still wouldn’t touch any other reality show with a ten-foot pole, so if I can get past it, why can’t everyone else? Is he/she a good singer and is it a good song? Sign me up. I don’t care if they popped fully-formed from the loins of Tom Cruise. If you’re looking for music, the music is what matters.

        • sj

Ditto Jane Rochester about being a convert to AI due to Season 7. However, I do love So You Think You Can Dance. LOVE it.

It’s unfortunate about the stigma for all of them but it is what it is. It’s the path these folks chose to take based on whatever, for good or bad. It’s ultimately their responsibility for taking that path and whatever transpires because of it. As fans, we root for who we root for, we project onto these folks and onto everything that happens. Some of us are more identified than others. Some take it way more seriously than others. But it’s all a game and most of these kids are doing just fine. I mean, take a look: they’re playing music, using their talents, and making a little money. I’ll bet if you asked any one of them about whether they think they’re successful or not, that they would say they’re getting to do what they love and that would be sincere. Superstardom, super success would be icing on a very delicious cake.

          • jukejoint

They are all way better off than they would’ve been if they hadn’t done Idol. I’m not wringing my hands over poor, poor, pitiful anybody from AI. Except maybe Luke Menard, who got cancer right after. But the rest of them, from 24th place finishers to the winners, all got amazing exposure they never would’ve had otherwise. Sure, it’s possible Jennifer Hudson would’ve been plucked from a cruise line to do Dreamgirls, but I have serious doubts about it. Sure, it’s possible somebody would’ve discovered Daughtry or Kelly or Carrie or Bucky or Kellie or Cook and given them a chance at a recording contract. But the odds were certainly not in their favor or they wouldn’t have done the show in the first place. That goes for Adam, too. AI has given him amazing opportunities to break out and be the !!STAR!! he always wanted to be.

And Adam trying desperately to shake off AI cooties so he can be a legit rock star? Please. He was in the chorus of Wicked. How many more cooties do you need than musical theater?

He hasn’t worked any harder than anybody, and that includes the Bieb and Katy Perry and everybody else who’s successful, and even if he had, so what? Who ever said that hard work = success? Isn’t that the first thing you learn in any job, that the people at the top got there because they were in the right place at the right time, they knew how to play the right people, they had connections, or they were damn lucky? Do I think Stephenie Meyers or J.K. Rowling worked any harder than any of the million zillion authors who are a heck of a lot better writers than they are and keep struggling in obscurity? Do I think Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie are better actors or worked harder than Chris Cooper or Alfre Woodard? Hell, no.

I’m sure Adam’s fans want him to have a fairytale ride to the top with no obstacles and only sweetness and light, just like the fans of every other person who’s ever been on American Idol, up to and including the fans of Joanne Borgella and Jared Yates. So what? I will revert to my handy quotes from plays, books and movies at this point to answer that question.

Spit in one hand and wish in the other and see which one gets full first.

Who ever said said life is fair? Where is that written?

Life is pain, highness. Anybody who says differently is selling something.

        • Pandora

As for your “Where is he supposed to be besides all that?” question; he was expected by everyone but detractors to be at GaGa level by now.

I see it completely the other way. Only the deluded few who think Simon Cowell has power in the music industry expected him to jump right out of the gate to any kind of SUPERSTARDOM. By far the majority of people (general music listeners, Idol-watchers, whoever, other than the BSCs) expected that he, like just about every other newly-signed artist, would have to hit the marketplace and sink or swim.

    • ross

      Sour, you said,

He has to work twice as hard because he came in second place on a reality television show

Again, you said he had to work twice as hard because he came in second.

So apparently I misunderstood your meaning. But maybe you can see that the way you phrased your comment, it could be taken more than one way. I took it to mean that as the second place finisher he had to work twice as hard as the first place finisher.

So: sorry if I misinterpreted it.

I still say Adam had had more publicity opportunities than most contestants since the early seasons, but maybe that had nothing to do with what you were saying. If not, again, my apologies.

      Moving on …

As for Idol contestants not getting respect in the real world, there’s always the tendency to assume they didn’t pay their dues, and that they’re getting an opportunity they don’t deserve . But I think more to the point, Idol was traditionally about finding pop singers, and many in music don’t especially respect “general pop singer” types. Creativity seems to be more prized, and innovation. In the last couple of years we’ve seem more songwriters and singers like Kris or Cook who seem to fit into a band, rather than being solo singers like Clay Aiken. I think the reason they have a hard time getting respect is that the early years of Idol have left people expecting that most Idol singers are pop or r&b divas and guys with voices more asuited to Broadway than pop.

In other words I don’t think the whole music business has ever embraced Simon Cowell’s taste in music, or his ideas about what makes a successful new artist.

What I am trying to say is, even without the stigma Lambert is/was a tough sell. I don’t exactly know why. But I knew that he would be while I was watching him on AI. saskin, this is so beautifully put. I have felt this way myself about Adam. I’ve always felt that for someone with a voice that really isn’t pleasant (in spite of his obvious abilities), he’s gone along way. But I always felt it was the voice that actually prevented him from winning Idol, and that will always probably turn a certain amount of people off.

      • JaneRochester

jukejoint, NOBODY is a better actor than Chris Cooper. ;)

        • Lamberkitten

Ross/Saskin, coming into the discussion late here. I understand that everybody enjoys different types of music and vocal talent but out of all the theories I have heard why Adam didnt win American Idol, that his voice is not pleasant to listen to is the least convincing.

          • saskin

There is a misunderstanding, I didn’t say ‘not pleasant’ I said, “abrasive”, which does not mean bad, unlikable, unpleasant. It might be very pleasing to some. But some people don’t like it. Actually quite a few people don’t like it. Interestingly, (IMHO only of course) Bowersox also has that abrasive undertone to her voice. She did not win either. We’ll she how well she will do with sales. Also I was not speculating about winning Idol. I was commenting on why he did not sell that well relative to expectations. He sold very well. But his roll-out was more Britney Spears than, let’s say, Eric Hutchinson.

          • old bat

Lamberkitten, I find the fanwarring as frustrating as the next person, and Adam’s gotten quite a beating here from time to time, but in this case, I do think it’s an honest case of “different strokes for different folks”.

Some people like rock, some people like folk, some people like r&b, some gospel, some Celine Dion… uh, you get the picture. His unprocessed voice can be, shall we say, a little strident for some preferences. While I was trying to figure out what the fuss was about in the early days, I spent a while ducking for cover and grabbing for the volume control whenever he started belting. Someone else burst out laughing in surprise/disbelief on hearing him sing Satisfaction.

I freely admit I’m more someone who’s more likely to snooze to Enya rather than headbang at a rock concert. The other person is more interested in jazzy, bluesy oldies and is no fan of any idol.

On a happier note! I also know people who love it when he waaaaails!

          • nerdgirl

Some voices do not sound pleasant to everybody. I cannot listen to Adam’s voice at all, it hurts my ears. Note: Not just Adam’s voice hurts my ears. Some other people voices hurt my ears, too. One of my colleagues has so unpleasant to my ears voice that I had to sit down at the furthest side of the table from her to be able to listen to her speak. Unfortunately, she talks a lot…

          • DeeDee

I think the theory that Adam lost American Idol because of the sound of his voice is quite plausible. Many people I spoke to during that season mentioned the word shrieking when describing Adam’s singing. Calling his singing shrieking obviously means they do not like the sound of his voice. I actually find Adam’s lower register to be very unpleasant and weird (as during Fever and For Your Entertainment) although his wailing does not bother me.

          • http://8sourcandy.wordpress.com/ 8sourcandy

I like the way his voice soars without a hitch. They way he sounds when he allows it to gurgle around in the deepest part of his register. I like the way it can sound raunchy one minute and like a choir of angels the next. I love his head voice. I even love his speaking voice. I just like the sound of him.

You know who has a great speaking voice, Jude Law. I love his speaking voice.

          • B York

I think that it’s sort of weird that anyone would expect post-AI contestants to be automatic stars because they had good voices. For me, AI is like a televised Karaoke contest that tries to bring the best to the stage. Don’t get me wrong, I love Karoke and I enjoy AI when it has good contestants.

But I really don’t intuitively connect the music industry with the AI experience. Good on those who do make a career out of it and even better for those who do actually become stars. Carrie Underwood is certainly an example of the latter.

I have no idea how Carrie managed it but I don’t think it has to do with her voice alone. Certainly her appearance on AI helped launch her career but it took something else to get her over the stigma of being on a talent show.

As for Lambert, his voice may be good and versatile but his songs are not that great. I think that when we remember the artists we love most, we don’t key into their vocal abilities as much as to the song quality. And by song quality, I mean a beautiful trifecta between vocals, instrumentation and lyrics.

I don’t get the sense that Lambert really knows who he is as an artist. I’m sure having to deal with the post-AI management and recording contract doesn’t help. But until he manages to produce something authentic and awe-inspiring, I think he will be derided by serious music critics.

          • Lamberkitten

Saskin, you are right you didnt say it was Adam’s voice that cost him the American Idol title, I was just responding to two similar sounding comments in as concise way as I could. But whether you meant not winning idol, or just a hard sell after Idol, and as much as I do get that some are just not going to like his voice, the not-inconsiderable success he has had is almost entirely due to how much people love it.

With all the praise that Adam has had either from AI, music industry, hardcore fans world-wide, and why there was such a “hullabaloo” about him in the first place was because he has such a powerful and moving voice. Obviously he has other attractive (to some) qualities but these would mean nothing without the talent to back it up. I dunno, that this voice has been detrimental to his career in any significant way seems an alien concept. I was just saying that this would be the least convincing reason, to me, why he wouldnt have won Idol or indeed attain success. That’s my opinion :)

          • Daf

Lamberkitten, I for one can attest to the fact that during Adam’s season on AI, I COULD NOT STAND to hear him sing. He’s got one of the most grating and irritating voices I’ve ever heard, along the lines of Axl Rose. When Adam came on, I either left the room, changed the channel or hit the mute button. That had absolutely nothing to do with him being gay or me being a “homophobe”, and everything to do with the fact that I’d rather put on headphones and listen to a bull moose and his ear piercing mating call. Also, this “praise from the music industry” crap wears SO thin. People in the “industry” praised Taylor Hicks, too, my second least favorite AI contestant. At least Adam won in that department.

          • caspar

The weird thing for me is that on Idol, at least on a couple of his performances, I would like how he started out, but generally before he hit the chorus, I’d be reaching for the mute button.

In fact, on Final 2 night, I kept thinking ‘Damn it, he’s going to kill this and win!’ And then he’d get into that showoffy/Broadway area of his voice (and yes, ‘grating’ is the perfect word), and I knew he wouldn’t.

          • Lamberkitten

Daf, I am not disputing that some people do not enjoy his voice and it is unfortunate for you and anyone else who feels that way when Adam sings. I love Axl Roses’ voice for instance, horses for courses blah, blah, blah. It is just really difficult to accept that, of all things, Adam’s voice has been a significant liability to his success. Just typing that last sentence makes me LOL!

          • michelle

I love Adam’s voice. Even though Paul McCartney will always be my #1 musician/vocalist I generally like the higher pitched, show offy type voices and voices with attitude when it comes to male vocals. The women, I generally prefer the smooth, mellow sound. Go figure.

Because I do like Adam’s voice so much I’m a bit jolted when someone says his voice isn’t good but like most things the whole issue is very subjective.

That said, I don’t love everything Adam does with his voice. Yes, he’s very versatile, in my opinion, but his voice is not suited to all genres of music. AMA’s aside, I really don’t like how he sounds singing For Your Entertainment. Too nasally and unnatural for my taste. He falls into that in other songs that are up tempo. And though I don’t think Adam screeches when he does the what do you call it, rock wail? well, you all know what I mean. I don’t think he screeches and sometimes it works with a song but I did get sick of it pretty quick. It came to the point on Idol where I was like ‘no, don’t do it, don’t don’t.’ but I was waiting for it anyway-haha.

Someone, and I’m sorry, I forget who, but I think it was York, was talking about the trifecta-voice, music and lyrics. I think you nailed it. A great voice is nothing without the right song. If you notice some of the most successful singers, who have stood the test of time, don’t have great vocal abilities. Billy Joel, Phil Collins, Carol King, Elton John-I’m not saying these people can’t sing, they just don’t have much range and don’t even attempt the vocal gymnastics. But they work with what they’ve got. And they all write their own music, well Elton has a collaborator, which is a big plus because they are able to write music that means something to them and are tailored to their abilities. And most of all they had a very clear vision of who they are as performers.

I know not everyone is going to like Adams voice no matter what but I think his musical choices, or those made for him, whatever the case may be, is the number one reason why he is not hitting it out of the park.

Adam should go through his repetoire of voices and pick the one that comes most naturally to him, choose a style of music that suits it and that he’s comfortable with, and find someone-one person who gets what he wants to do (once he figures it out of course) and can write songs.

I don’t know how capable he is of doing any of that while he’s under contract or if he would even want to but there’s my unsolicited advice anyway.

          • Blue Eyes

You can say the same for Madonna, Britney and Taylor Swift – they also don’t have great voices, but they have good songs.

          • michelle

Personally don’t like Brittney’s music and Taylor Swift is okay but love Madonna but yes, they along with many others could be included. :)

NOBODY is a better actor than Chris Cooper.

          Exactly!

      • muzikizmi

I’ve always felt that for someone with a voice that really isn’t pleasant (in spite of his obvious abilities), he’s gone along way. But I always felt it was the voice that actually prevented him from winning Idol, and that will always probably turn a certain amount of people off.

Wow Ross. Can I be you? You said everything I have rambled about for months in just a few sentences. That is exactly what I meant, when I compared Adam’s voice to a trumpet. I have never wanted to listen to trumpet overtures. It is brassy and annoying.

Adam is the opposite of Danny for me. Danny has a great voice, IMO, it is his personality and his musical genre that grates on me. With Adam, it is mostly the tone of his voice. The disco 2.0 genre annoys me too, but that is secondary.

      • Fabgab

A beautiful voice is in the ear of the beholder. I love Adam’s voice. It’s the main thing that makes me a fan of his. That said, he has a very distinctive sound and style and I totally get that it’s not for everybody. The same way the growly 90′s rock sound of Daughtry, Cook, & DeWyze is not for me.

        • Nich

See I love Cook’s voice. I love growly alt grunge whatever you want to call it type voices from the 90s. Which confuses me how I was SO not a fan of Lee’s heh.

          • JaneRochester

I don’t think it’s confusing at all. Cookie’s voice is gorgeous. Lee’s voice is reeelly interesting. Two different animals. :)

      • Fabgab

@Jukejoint. PLEASE tell me you didn’t compare Stephenie Meyers with J.K. Rowling! Oh for shame!!

The latter: brilliant. The former: unspeakably awful.

        • mtlfan

i agree with you for Rowling. I wouldn’t say Stephanie Meyers is that awful… she got good and catchy story lines but definitly a lot of notches down from Rowling in terms of writing skills

        • doodlebug

THANK you. The instrument has not been invented that could measure how much I agree with you on this. They shouldn’t even be mentioned in the same sentence!

        • JaneRochester

Actually (IMO, of course) JK was pretty sucky until OTP. Something happened while she was writing that one. I think she may have discovered the ancient words of wisdom, “If you see an adverb, step on it.” Her writing improved immensely.

But they both definitely have a way with a plotline. It’s just that Meyers’ writing sucks such massive donkey balls that she couldn’t even sell me Anna Fuckin’ Karenina.

        • jukejoint

I didn’t compare JK Rowling to Stephenie Meyers. I just said they are both phenomenally popular while there are other talented authors out there who work just as hard and aren’t 1/100th as popular.

Just examples of “hard work” not being the same thing as “successful,” no matter the medium.

      • http://8sourcandy.wordpress.com/ 8sourcandy

I just want you to know I am not here to make your life hell. I get how much you like Kris. I like Adam that much too. We want our guys to succeed, we’re scared they won’t and we become defensive. I get defensive all the time with Adam detractors. I am trying not to. I really think they would all fare better if the fans weren’t so competitive.

I like you, Ross. I like your knowledge of movie trivia. :) We can debate, but lets try to be nicer about, ok?

If all the Idol fans ever banned together, working to elevate them all, they would be running they industry.

cue up “We Are the World” :)

      • MissMyEm

In other words I don’t think the whole music business has ever embraced Simon Cowell’s taste in music, or his ideas about what makes a successful new artist.

I agree with you Ross. Who has Simon really discovered?? Leona Lewis and Il Divo. Neither has taken the world by storm. I think Simon is a legend in his own mind.

    • Blue Eyes

8sourcandy, I’m not exactly sure if working hard has anything to do with success in the entertainment field. I think it’s luck and knowing the right people who will give you the opportunities.

      • http://8sourcandy.wordpress.com/ 8sourcandy

I agree and I am counting on it. I think if he’s able to win over a few of the right people, there will be no stopping him. But that’s true of any of them.

    • nerdgirl

It’s funny how Adam fans are bullying other people under the guise of “defending” him. Just like you don’t like Kris singing, some people may not like Adam and they going to say it. Why do you have to defend him? From what?

  • ross

The People’s Choice Awards have failed to nominate Saint Adam for an award. I wouldn’t want to be the People’s Choice Awards contact person right now.

But hope springs eternal – there is a write-in category. Can you say spam?

    • ross

Wow, they’re already on the job.

      • Salleyanne

Just looked at twitter for the People’s Choice and every effin tweet is about Lambert. Glad they think that this is such an important award, and that a few fans speak for the entire world. Sorry not drinking the kool-aid. Just another award that can be spammed. Real important.

        • ross

He got the obligatory PCA nomination last year, didn’t he? Plus, they won him a surfboard when they spammed the Teen Choice awards – what more could they want?

          • Salleyanne

They want everybody in the universe to think he is a “rawk god”. They want everybody to buy into “he’s the greatest singer ever”. They want to destroy any other idol that ever dares to outsell him or God forbid, beat him at anything.

BSC doesn’t even begin to describe it.

          • undercooked

I know both Kris and Adam got nominated last year.

Is it surprising that Lee didn’t get a nom? At first I was, but then I checked past noms and it doesn’t appear that the Davids got noms. Go figure.

    • Salleyanne

RCA and Sony are now encouraging the BSC Glamberts to spam the Peoples Choice. Keep it up Glamberts. Just makes you look all the more crazy.

      cherlyn:
Re: Vote 4 Adam 4 Peoples Choice Awards gota get him nominated!!
Well, he was dissed on the MTV Award, The People’s Choice Awards, The AMA’s. They say he is a longshot for The Grammys. He has the best voice out there and he has to work twice as hard and take so much crap and he soldiers on. You would think some awards committee might just think that Adam deserves the nominee recognition, and it would be a stellar moment to emphasize to every unaccepted youth out there that Adam took the blows, worked hard and he was rewarded because that is the right thing to do. I am very disappointed. We can probably type to our fingers bleed, and I will, but they are going to ignore him. I hope that they prove me wrong. Adam never gives up and we cannot either. Can’t let the bullies win.

Now they’re saying he has to work soooooo much harder than anyone else to get nominated for anything and using what is going on with gay teens to further him. Like TI said before, it’s all about Lambert, not the cause. Oh yeah, everyone that doesn’t think the sun rises and sets in him are “bullies”.

      • Salleyanne

WHAT THE HELL DOES ADAM LAMBERT HAVE TO DO WITH BULLYING?

        • Salleyanne

          My thoughts exactly TI.

        • Salleyanne

Maybe because he was “bullied” sometime in his life, he deserves and award. Sorry BSC Glamberts but probably 99.9 percent of the population has been “bullied” sometime in their lives. Doesn’t make it right, but also doesn’t make Lambert “special”.

There are a lot of ways to be “bullied” that has nothing to do with being gay. Being teased because you are short/fat/to tall etc. is just as hurtful to a child. Children have died before from being bullied. A child just last year committed suicide because someone on the internet started harrassing her and telling her she was ugly and worthless. Bullying comes in many forms and doesn’t make him anymore deserving than the next one.

Please excuse any typos. I’m typing in the ads.

          • et

I got bullied in middle school because I have a deep voice. It wasn’t much fun being a girl with a deep voice. I like it now but I HATED it and I had a girl who used to fllow me around school and try to trip me and kick me. So I want an award, dammit. I deserve it.

Seriously, though, people get bullied for a million reasons. Kids are brutal to anyone who is different.

          • http://topidolblog.com TopIdol

I was bullied as a child. I actually rarely think about childhood. I left it there. It wasn’t horrible and I love my parents, but elementary school was not a picnic. Kids are assholes. I’ve been bullied. I’ve seen other people get bullied. LOTS OF US HAVE BEEN BULLIED AT SOME POINT IN THEIR LIVES. Bullying is not just a gay thing. And just because Lambert is gay does not mean he was bullied. And by all accounts, he seems to have grown up in a very loving and accepting household. I do not think he was raised to be ashamed of who he was, unless it was for being a ginger? Because he does seem to have some self-loathing issues in regards to hair & skin tone. And I cannot begrudge him for this as I dye my hair darker than its natural shade. I admit being a self-loathing (dark) blond. It is what it is, but seriously, hearing these batshit crazy frauen talk about how Adam Lambert can solve the problem of bullying, it makes me want to punch something. The majority of them don’t get it. It’s never about an issue or a cause or civil rights. It’s about fucking Adam Lambert, regardless of how the majority of these idiots try to spin their actions. And how often have these women bullied others who do not agree with them?

          • et

*follow* me. She used to follow me. I don’t know what a fllow is. *Shakes fist at Denise wherever she may be for being a nasty, hateful bully*

      • http://8sourcandy.wordpress.com/ 8sourcandy

He has to work twice as hard because he came in second place on a reality television show. Not because he’s gay. Yes, he has to put up with a ton of shit cause he’s gay, every gay person does. But many people are bullied or denied something because they don’t fit into what society deems acceptable. Fat, old, ugly, handicapped, minority…whatever.

The world is cruel and unfair. I don’t think awarding Adam Lambert a people’s choice award is going to bring about world peace or gay liberation. It would be nothing more than a another tchatchke to dust.

However, if I could influence the Grammy’s and get him a nod, I would. :)

(Those damn shoes are hiding my text) Plaid shoes? Holy crap!

        • Salleyanne

Sorry but that’s BS. He was pimped more than the winner. Why should he have to “work twice as hard because he came in second place on a reality television show”. He was promoted more than the winner so I honestly do not agree with you. If anyone had to work harder it was Allen. He had to contend with the BSC Glamberts (especially KK) trying to destroy his career just because he had the audacity to win AI.

Sorry TI. Didn’t mean to rehash S8.

          • http://8sourcandy.wordpress.com/ 8sourcandy

I was talking only about Adam’s experience. I am not observing the careers of other contestants to know what they are doing to succeed. I am stating that American Idol is not a respected entity in the Music Industry and therefore, anyone associated with it has to work harder to prove themselves. I am sure it’s the same for all.

BTW, on paper he is the second-place finisher. No mention of pimping or extra attention is ever mentioned in his intros.

          • http://topidolblog.com TopIdol

Exactly, Sour. You have a lot more to prove when you’ve come off of American Idol. People do not take it seriously. Its often hinders more than it helps.

          • ross

I have to agree with this.

Adam has had to work twice as hard as who? Kris? Do you even know what you’re saying? Nobody has worked harder than Kris. He’s performed almost nonstop since he won. Adam had months off when he did almost no performing. I have no desire to rehash Season 8 fan wars either, but everyone knows the promo Adam got and continues to get, and if he hadn’t screwed up at the AMAs, he was set to get a lot more (beginning with New Year’s Rockin’ Eve from Times Square).

Among other things, they’ve promoted him in Canada, he’s mentored on AI, he’s closed the AMAs, he’s been on Oprah, The View, Barbara Walters, 20-20, Nightline, NPR, peformed on Australian TV, he’s had a cover story in Rolling Stone, a photo shoot and interview in Details, a promo trip to England, Europe, Asia, and Australia, he’s appeared on Much Music and the MMVAs in Canada, X factor in Australia. He got to promo his latest single on The Tonight Show, where he’s appeared more than once. VH1 Top 20 gave him an interview segment. He also got to do an acoustic set for hem.

He’s had way more promo than the winner, or the winner before him.

          • et

I am stating that American Idol is not a respected entity in the Music Industry and therefore, anyone associated with it has to work harder to prove themselves. I am sure it’s the same for all.

Totally agree. It seems to be a big old stain on their credibility as an artist.

          • mtlfan

yes that’s right. Of all the previous contestants, it seems to me that Adam got the most pimping/exposure after an idol show.
I got to give a thumb up to Kris to often mention the show when he performs in concerts, even though there’s somewhat of a stain attached to the credibility of the artist coming off AI.

          • scoutfinch

The fact that he was chosen to be a mentor on AI — only one year after he was on the show — this fact ALONE establishes that he received an overwhelming amount of pimping. Even though I kinda like Adam, I thought this hurt the show’s credibility. (Wouldn’t you think a “mentor” would be someone who had years of experience in the music industry??)

        • Miz

Poor Chris Daughtry deserves an award because he has to work 4 times as hard. Heck Tatiana del Torro deserves an award because she came in ??? … oh, I don’t know.

          • JaneRochester

scoutfinch, I thought it was pretty cool that Adam got to be a mentor. He might have been only a year off the show, but he came to the show with an awful lot of stagetime already under his belt. And he certainly knows how to perform. Plus, he had good advice for the kids.

    • Salleyanne

Just a question for everyone here……..

If Lambert doesn’t get a nomination, will the BSC Glamberts go on a campaign against them for being homophobic?

      • et

I don’t know, but I’m sure that millions of people will stop watching the show! (Hee)

      • B York

The BSC Glamberts would look pretty silly doing so, Salleyanne.

Indigo Girls won the grammy for Best Contemporary Folk Recording in 1989.

R.E.M. won multiple awards in 1991, including Best Pop Performance and Best Music Video for “Losing My Religion” (Michael Stipe is openly gay).

KD Lang’s “Constant Craving” (1992) reached No. 2 on Adult Contemporary and yielded a Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance.

Melissa Etheridge won Best Rock Vocal in 1992 and 1994 for “Ain’t It Heavy” and “Come Into My Window”.

Pet Shop Boys received numerous grammy nominations from 1995 to 2010 (Neil Tennant came out in 1994).

Rufus Wainwright got a nomination for best traditional pop vocal album for “Rufus Does Judy At Carnegie Hall” in 2009.

Judas Pries won one for Best Metal Performance in 2009 (Rob Halford is openly gay).

It seems to me that the music scene has been more than comfortable with sexual orientation for quite awhile. David Bowie, Lou Reed, Dusty Sprinfield and Ani DiFranco have stated at one point or another their bi-sexuality.

I have no trouble sharing if it helps people. Pain is never anything to be ashamed of. The key is to handle it in a positive way. And Adam is certainly a great leader. He’s as close to a walking Messiah as I’ve ever seen, certainly. One day he’ll be right up there with MLK and Mother Teresa.

This reminds me of when Ernest Hemingway said Zelda Fitzgerald asked him if he didn’t think Al Jolson was greater than Jesus. He said he knew then that she was “insane.”

That poster really really needs help.

Now on the same level as MLK or Mother Teresa! Thought he was on the same level as Bowie. Apparently they can’t make up their mind.

        Give me a break.

      • ross

Oh, my gosh. I thought that was a joke! It’s not. :(

I find stuff like this hard to laugh at, because it’s so sick. You can’t even mock it, it just makes you numb.

      • MissMyEm

Oh, my gosh. I thought that was a joke! It’s not.

I also thought it was complete snark. If it were it would have been great snark too. So my question would be how on earth could anyone in their right mind seriously compare this guy to MLK and Mother Theresa???? Pretty soon he’ll be Moses, parting the Red Sea.

We have a saying here in Los Angeles….

        O-M-G!!!

      • Miz

The closest thing to a walking Messiah she has ever seen? On the same level as Mother Theresa and MLK???? Seriously?????

    • Blue Eyes

Your heros should never be entertainers – they will end up disappointing you. Your heros should be your parents, teachers or someone who really did something in ther lives that’s considered hero-worthy.

Adam Lambert has done nothing hero-worthy and for people to think he’s some kind of saint is totally ridiculous.

      • ross

Your heros should never be entertainers – they will end up disappointing you. Your heros should be your parents, teachers or someone who really did something in ther lives that’s considered hero-worthy.

Wow, that’s rather prejudiced, don’t you think? There are entertainers who are heroes of mine. I don’t think teachers are necessarily higher on the hero meter than entertainers. How many young artists have looked up to other artists for inspiration? I don’t think disappointment necessarily follows adulation of entertainers, for everyone.

The thing is, this person didn’t just claim Adam was her hero. Who would have a problem with that? It was the fact that she was calling him a messiah and a saint.

        • Blue Eyes

No, I don’t think it’s prejudiced at all. I just do not believe entertainers are heros. They are there to entertain you – PERIOD. If they actually did something heroic, then you can call them hero.

Here’s the defination of a hero:

          1. a man of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities.

          2. a person who, in the opinion of others, has heroic qualities or has performed a heroic act and is regarded as a model or ideal: He was a local hero when he saved the drowning child.

“How many young artists have looked up to other artists for inspiration?”

That would be called role-model, not hero.

          • http://topidolblog.com TopIdol

            CAPTAIN SULLY IS MY HERO!!!

            THE CHILEAN MINERS!

          • justpeachy

I have to agree with Blue Eyes here, Ross. Entertainers are just people doing a job like everyone else. Maybe we use the word hero too easily nowadays. Role-model does seem more appropriate.

          • sj

A hero is personal, in my opinion. There are no ”shoulds” when it comes to a personal hero. To me it’s anyone who goes beyond fear to accomplish something. An entertainer can most definitely be a hero. At the risk of sounding really pathetically corny, I’ll use American Idol as an example. Some of the contestants, not all, are sincere in making that experience a personal journey. Just to show up for some people is going so far beyond fear and conditioning that it is truly heroic. Okay, I’ll use Phil Deweezy as an example. Regardless of his talent (or lack thereof) it seemed pretty clear that he was in such a state that people feared puking on national TV. The guy SHOWED UP. To do something in the face of fear like that is admirable and heroic in terms of spirit. (I’m thinking Joseph Campbell.) To face the ridicule of millions of people? It inspires people to go beyond the beat down from conditioning we get in this life. I wouldn’t call Lee my hero but I do admire him (even though I think he can’t sing) and others just for putting themselves out there. To some kid, he may well be a hero, who knows? It’s not for me to judge who somebody’s hero is. Is my point… I’ll shut up now…

          • et

Heroes seem to me to often be random people who do extraordinary things. And random people who do amazing things every day as just part of who they are, and are often unsung for it. They can be entertainers, firefighters, soldiers, your neighbor Mr. Bob who in his spare time volunteers at the homeless shelter, your teacher Mrs. Jones who took interest in a kid in need and changed their whole life, etc., etc., etc. Entertainers, like athletes, are mostly just regular people. Most of us aren’t heroes, you know? Neither are they. Just because they are excellent at music or sports, doesn’t make them a hero. Makes them blessed, hard working, driven and sometimes (often) very lucky!

I do think that we use “hero” too easily – role model is usually a better word, or you can admire someone.

          • http://topidolblog.com TopIdol

We do use it too often. There are few true heroes.

          • et

sj, you do have a point there, what defines a hero is certainly subjective :)

          • Blue Eyes

sj, American Idol manipulates people into thinking the contestants are heros. These people are seeking fame – PERIOD!

          • et

I think some of these people are *brave* for doing Idol when it terrifies them – but I wouldn’t call them heroes :)

          • Pandora

I have to say something extremely politically incorrect. I admire and respect firefighters and police officers. But I do not call them heroes for doing the work they choose to undertake. The random person on a street who runs into a burning building to pull people out? THAT one is a hero. The one who gets paid to do it? He’s doing his job.

          • ross

People seem to be equating personal heroes with general heroism or bravery. I think there are various types of heroes. I don’t think the term role model is necessarily appropriate, however. What is wrong with saying, for example, “I love film, and Orson Welles – or John Ford – is my hero, because, to me, they made the greatest films” – ? Or something like that. It isn’t necessarily about bravery. It can be about accomplishment. Or creative genius.

          • nonna-muss

I see both sides of what’s being said here, but in all fairness Stocky Galore said Adam was a messiah. There’s a big difference between that and hero. She also claims he is a great leader. My question: leader of what or who? I might say I’d like to know the answer to that question, but I probably don’t really want the deets on that. It frightens me to think that there are people that feel the way this Galore person feels.

            I’m with TI–Sully rules!

          • scoutfinch

Ha! Jenna — not Lambert — is number 4 in Japan! Wait… I sometimes get 30 Rock confused with real life. 30 Rock is wayyy better!

      • jukejoint

I have no problem with every day heroes, like firemen or police or Captain Sully. But I’m with Charles Barkley on sports or entertainment heroes, especially when it comes to kids setting them up as their role models. If you set them up on a pedestal as people who can do no wrong or as heroes or role models or whatever else you want to call it, then the fall out is even harder when we find out they’re sex addicts or gamblers or cokeheads or they’re jumping on Oprah’s couch or whatever other antics sports and entertainment stars get up to. The higher the pedestal, the farther the fall.

I don’t much care, by the way. I guess I think who you choose as your personal hero and for what reason is up to you. With the caveat that none of them are perfect and pretending that they are never works out. A cop could save 10 lives today and be caught using city funds to hire hookers tomorrow. But I suppose it’s ridiculous to ask for limited heroes. Like, okay, you can think that Albert Pujols is a hero for putting it all out there on the baseball field and for his charity work, but don’t think any more than that because he may be a terrible husband or father for all we know, plus he went to that Glenn Beck thing, which… Feet of clay much? Or you can think Tom Cruise is a hero for saving somebody from a burning car or whatever it was he did, but let’s not pretend it goes any farther than that, what with the revolving door of wives and the yelling at Brooke Shields about post-partum depression thing.

Still, “limited hero” is a difficult concept to sell, I think. And in my own heart of hearts, I still have Michael Jordan on a pedestal because he was a thing of beauty on the basketball court, even though I know his heart was no purer than anybody else’s.

        • Blue Eyes

I wonder how many people were calling O.J. Simpson or Tiger Woods their hero? I’ll bet those people are feeling taken in and foolish for putting them up on that pedestal.

          • ross

I wonder how many people were calling O.J. Simpson or Tiger Woods their hero? I’ll bet those people are feeling taken in and foolish for putting them up on that pedestal.

I think jukejoint had a good point, though. Your teacher or parent who is supposedly a better hero than an entertainer could turn to have had feet of clay, as well. I don’t like tarring all entertainers or celebs with the same brush

          • ross

            “Turn out,” I meant.

I think it all depends on if we’re talking personal heroes or publicly-acknowledged heroes, like war heroes, etc.

          • et

But Blue Eyes! The glove didn’t fit! *Sob*

        • et

I have to say something extremely politically incorrect. I admire and respect firefighters and police officers. But I do not call them heroes for doing the work they choose to undertake.

I was going to say something like that earlier but realized I was almost late to get my son and his preschool teacher would give me the death glare… anyway, along the lines that I don’t think teachers, firefighters, cops, whatever are heroes just for doing their job… But I will say that I do truly admire the ones who are doing these things for non-creepy reasons (have known some pretty horrible cops who are thugs in a uniform, not to mention the basketball coach/teacher at my high school who was sleeping with students) – helping other people, and/or risking themselves to keep other people safe – there are so many opportunities in those professions to make a difference or be a hero that I do think you find many heroes among them.

But even heroes are human. And humans make mistakes. So maybe it’s best to not put even a hero up on a pedestal!

I still have Michael Jordan on a pedestal because he was a thing of beauty on the basketball court, even though I know his heart was no purer than anybody else’s.

Well, sure, I think you can have a “sports hero” — ie., I love the game and this guy really, really epitomized what it was to be a great player — and “walks into burning building to save children” hero. I personally love athletes that are charitable, London Fletcher (he went to my college briefly – dude was so *quiet*) on the Skins is one of my real sports heroes, quietly fantastic, plays his heart out, team leader, and quietly very involved in charity with kids – love him. But again, he’s human, so I’m not going to put him on a pedestal. Would he walk into a burning building to save someone? Who knows. I’m not sure that’s always even having a heroic personality – sometimes people do things like that when they are anything but heroic in real life but they react in a moment of crisis in an extraordinary way. What’s a true hero? I have no idea. I just know who I admire and who I don’t :)

          • Blue Eyes

A soldier is a hero. He or she is risking their life for the love of their country. I think anybody who risks their life to save others is a hero. If someone is sticking up for me, I would look at them as my personal hero.

I might admire someone for their talent (entertainers, sports stars), but I don’t consider them heros.

            JMO, of course.

        • deez

          • http://topidolblog.com TopIdol

The idea of sports heroes makes me laugh. How the hell is Tom Brady a hero? Some people have the stories to make heroes, not so much Brady, for example. Hockey star Mario Lemieux is one. Baseball’s Ted Williams. He missed his best years to fight in WW2.

Pujols may have a great swing, but yeah, he went to the Glenn Beck thing.

      • J

To me heroes are people who put themselves into dangerous situations in order to help others. Soldiers, firefighters, police officers, undercover agents, teachers who work in schools where gang fights and weapon searches are a daily occurrence, medical personnel who volunteer in dangerous places and yes even entertainers who travel to perform for troops.

I know they all get paid and they chose their jobs. They could have chosen professions that involved no risk to themselves. Instead they are working in potentially dangerous conditions, often for crap pay because they chose to serve others.

There are a lot of people who perform one time heroic acts. Those situations usually don’t involve a lot of thought. In my opinion most of those acts are based in spontaneous decisions and emotional reactions. They are good, brave people but not necessarily heroes in my opinion. I believe heroes are people who perform heroic acts over and over again even after they fully understand and think about the risks involved.

        • ross

          Meriam-Webster definition:

          Definition of HERO
1a : a mythological or legendary figure often of divine descent endowed with great strength or ability b : an illustrious warrior c : a man admired for his achievements and noble qualities d : one that shows great courage

2a : the principal male character in a literary or dramatic work b : the central figure in an event, period, or movement

          3plural usually heros : submarine 2

4: an object of extreme admiration and devotion : IDOL

          Examples of HERO
He returned from the war a national hero.
          the hero of a rescue
She was a hero for standing up to the government.
His father has always been his hero.
He has always been a hero to his son.

          ————

So we’re all right, in a way. As you see, an object of extreme admiration or devotion, or an idol, is also within the definition of “hero.”

          • ross

Synonyms, acc. to this source, are “god, idol, icon.”

I am now passionately devoted to the #GokeyOkeyforBass campaign. It is cause dear to my heart. I knew there had to be a reason for all the tight pants and pelvic thrusting! Those unfortunate remarks from season 8 tour (with Sarver) were all just a cover up for his secret love of the Basstronaut! He was touched by the GlamOne and inspired to love all gays and banish his religous hatred. He has taken this love to new levels and has found sweet bliss with Lance. Of course, Latino Gokey is devastated by the news. hehe!

Would it help if someone explained to them that it isn’t personal, since AMA nominations are based on sales and airplay? Or are they having too much fun wallowing in outrage to care?

    • Nich

      I doubt it.

  • Llamakhan

Here is a twitter response I got from a Glambert today.

    My original tweet:
    Llamakhan
Oh all of Adam Lambert’s psycho fans are angry that he wasnt nominated for an AMA. Maybe thats cuz he didnt deserve it. Duh

    Myegospeaks
@Llamakhan I know, Niggers and the little boy who copies them DO deserve it, right? Which do you like best, hmmm?

So glamberts hate homophobes but they are ok with racists. Makes perfect sense to me.

    • http://8sourcandy.wordpress.com/ 8sourcandy

I reported her for spam because twitter doesn’t have a “report for human degradation” option.

    • sj

That’s disgusting. But I wouldn’t label all Glamberts racist. Just this one that we know of.

      • Llamakhan

Oh I wouldn’t call them all racist either. It is just ironic that for this person to be part of a fan group that preaches equality yet says racist slurs. And the fact that they created that twiter account just to say that is crazy.

        • muzikizmi

That would explain why they don’t like Kris. He does sing his pop/rock with an R&B flavor. Maybe ‘the little boy who copies them’ tells us a lot. Did the person who tweeted that slur have a no H8 twibbon?

          • Burgundy LaRue

By that definition, they should hate Elvis, since his act was focused on putting a white face to black music so it could sell to mainstream America. But they put Tupelo Boy on a pedestal so they can raise the Glittery One to some absurd level.

I know not all Adam fans are bad. But the mindset of the loud-mouth zealots is getting on my last nerve.

    • nonna-muss

That’s sick. I just don’t get it. Wasn’t there some, oh….I don’t know….Federal Judge making a decision on DADT today? Obviously to a group that is trying to rid the world of homophobia the AMA’s would be the top priority. Yeah, right.

      • B York

You would think that the DADT news would eclipse Lambert’s exclusion from the AMAs. You know, celebrating a victory in their crusade to rid the world of homophobia. But it seems the BSC herd think fighting for LGBT rights is all about looking out for their Rawk Cod.

On one board, one glittery fan could not understand why anyone should be bothered with teens and others using the expression, “That’s so gay!” They didn’t get that the connotation of something being negative with being gay was highly offensive.

On another board, one person thought some 8 words from Lambert’s song “Fever” ( there he goes my baby walks so slow) would do more to help combat suicides by gay youth than the “It Gets Better” viral campaign of You Tube messages.

Another fan totally missed the point of the NOH8 photo campaign by ripping off the photographer’s theme/style to photoshop a picture of Lambert. The people who participated in the campaign paid donations to get the photos done in support of a legal defence fund to deal with proposition 8.

The more they go on the attack, whether it’s accusing someone of being a homophobe for criticizing Lambert or spamming an awards show for failing to recognize his talents, the more they make AFL look like a joke in the eyes of the rest of the world.

        • http://topidolblog.com TopIdol

Fighting homophobia only matters when it has to do with Adam Lambert. That’s how they think. That’s why many of them are pathetic pieces of shit.

Screw them all. (The Glamberts) I’ve been waiting to see my Chilean Miners be rescued for over 2 months, dammit!

Peeps, hold on to your laptops, it seems like your buddy Hans Ebert has turned into a Glambert. Hans compares Adam to Elvis and, wait for it, says he sings better than Mercury.

          • undercooked

Hans Ebert is some sort of industry insider who really disliked Adam’s album. So his OTT review of Adam’s concert comes as a big surprise.

Now the first person who finds me evidence of Lambert being mentioned alongside/in relation to the Chilean Miners gets a free Goat Love T-Shirt paid for from Oskar’s kibble (He eats quite well, don’t worry.) A link must be provided.

          • Udderly Shiny
          • http://topidolblog.com TopIdol

Doesn’t count. I need evidence of Glamberts talking about Lambert as they did with the terror threat, et al. Hell, Just-released miner Edison Pena is a HUGE Elvis fan. Hasn’t a Glambert organized CD donations for all 33 and their families?

          • Zowiecat

Hans Ebert has written about Lambert with a critical eye in the past (see: “Why Adam Lambert Must Marry Brian Molko”, which is all about how he didn’t live up to the post AI hype.)
The new article is interesting because he still looks with an objective eye (says his album wasn’t that good and that he will probably do better internationally) but gives the show a very good review and even throwns in a few OTT comments like:
“If anyone has to ask me again what “the fuss is all about”, here’s my answer: Go see Adam Lambert in concert and until then, don’t criticize what you don’t understand.”

So it does seem to be a turn-around, like Undercooked says.

And now the Glamberts have pissed off Sony.

Glamberts: we’ve heard ur requests 4 a new single loud & clear and passed on ur feedback. We appreciate you sending less @replies about this

          • Blue Eyes

HAHAHAHA! What a bunch of crazies! When are these nutjobs going to realize that spamming DOES NOT WORK and usually ends up pissing off people instead?

          • barado

Because of the 140-or-so-character limit, they left out the intended last sentence of that tweet: “Get a f*cking life.”

          • jukejoint

Oh, goodie! I hope this means they redouble their efforts!

Glambert speak: How dare Sony tell us to shut up!!!??!!!??? It’s the dark shadow of homephibia raising its ugly head to threaten bb!!!!111!!!!!

Hope the link works — Who is Hans Ebert? Appears to be a nobody like every other nobody pretending to be somebody. Or at least a nobody to me.

            http://www.petitionspot.com/petitions/ebertforidoljudge/

          • Udderly Shiny

Hans Ebert is a mau who has snowed the frauen into thinking he’s someone. He is Kerry Kolsch with a dick.

        • http://8sourcandy.wordpress.com/ 8sourcandy

          I loved that article!

I actually bookedmarked him because there are a few industry overviews that seem like an interesting read.

          thanks!

          • nonna-muss

In response to Udderly Shiny’s posted link:

Proof that these women live for Adam and only Adam and have no connection to the real world. In discussing the Chilean Miners, one of the herd asked this:

“This is wonderful! Are they all alive?”

My nine year old son knew that they were still alive, for Petey’s sake, step away from AO and read a frackin’ newspaper people!

          • undercooked

Hey 8sourcandy, Hans did a follow up article today on Adam. Again another interesting read and more of his thoughts about Adam. He talks about the over-hype and the backlash of the AMAs among other things. He still isn’t a convert when it comes to the album and he says he wrote Simon Fuller about the quality of FYE.

So, I still don’t know what to think about Hans….

            http://hansebert.wordpress.com/2010/10/13/is-adam-lambert-the-edward-scissorhands-of-music/

          • http://topidolblog.com TopIdol

How/Who is Hans Ebert? As in, why does his opinion matter? That’s what I do not understand.

          • ross

Thanks – that was also my question.

          • undercooked

LOL! I never had heard of Hans either until Bootstar (I think that is the poster) linked some articles from him. I believe there was a discussion about one of Hans articles here some weeks back. I think it was the blog about Adam being over-hyped. At the time, people seemed to take his opinion somewhat seriously.

I just can’t figure out if this guy is legit or not and if his opinions carry any weight. Is he retired? Was he a heavy hitter when he was in the biz? Why does he write so much about AI? Is he really a close friend of Simon Fuller?

Anyway, I was just letting 8sourcandy know there was another article since she seemed to enjoy the first one. No biggie. I won’t bring him up anymore if it is too off topic.

          • http://8sourcandy.wordpress.com/ 8sourcandy

            Tinawina,
I quickly reviewed the latest, but haven’t had time to read the ones I already bookmarked. I do like his industry observations that I read so far. I want to understand that side of it more. Thanks for introducing him to me.

Sorry for straying off topic, just wanted to say thanks.

          • http://8sourcandy.wordpress.com/ 8sourcandy

Oh…..I wanted to thank BOTH Tinawina and undercooked, :)

        • chelle

his opinion only matters here when he doesn’t like adam.

          • tinawina

I’m pretty sure he’s an industry dude from way back, A&R maybe for a major once upon a time? But I think he worked mostly in Asia, like say in Sony’s Asia division or something (not Sony necessarily, but one of the mutlinational labels).

He does seem to know all the people on the exec side personally. He began blogging about Idol occasionally a while back so he started popping up on people’s Google alerts.

He kind of reminds me of that Leftesz guy.

But that review did make me want to see one of Adam’s shows! LOL

          • nerdgirl

Well, he also said that Adam’s label is not even close to breaking even on his album…

          • caspar

Oh, really? (I suppose I should read the article).

Not that this is a huge shock. Does this mean they roll the loss over into his next album?

          • tinawina

            Oh my @nerdgirl. LOL

How long ago did he say that? If they find it, he will be in big trouble! Heh

@8sourcandy – You’re welcome! I don’t read him much but when I have he was really interesting.

          • nerdgirl

It was in one of the comments, I didn’t want to tell anybody to prevent the stampede. Oh, well. he also said that he was trying to sign up Adam with a major label but the top guy said that Adam was not good enough. He also said that Adam knows Paula very well, implying that he was “plant” on Idol. So, there.

          • MissMyEm

Not true for me. His opinion never matters to me. I think he’s a biased jerk who backpedals.

    • Udderly Shiny

“Glamberts: we’ve heard ur requests 4 a new single loud & clear and passed on ur feedback. We appreciate you sending less @replies about this”

Ay caramba! Pump the brakes, Glamberts. Sony is going to do what Sony is going to do. Just ask the disgruntled Cook fans who post here. I would love a fourth single too but I don’t think asking Sony is going to do much to sway their decision.

      • nonna-muss

Hahaha! They are going to make his own label sick of him! Dear Jestro they are incredibly stupid.

“A group of Canadian Adam Lambert fans have recently started a petition to get Sony Music Canada and its affiliate label RCA Records to release the Lady Gaga, Jeff Bhasker penned Fever as the next Canadian single to be released to radio. This would be the fifth release from the For Your Entertainment CD, including the track Time For Miracles which was also featured in the 2012 motion picture.

A message sent to RockStar Weekly from milkywayfairy (as she is known on Adam Lambert’s website Adam Official)..

“We’re a group Adam Lambert’s fans in Toronto,” she wrote. “Some say Fever will not make it to the radio in the States because of the pronoun in there “there he goes, my baby walks so slow”. But it won’t be a problem in Canada because we embrace same-sex relationships here…”

Keep it up BSC Glamberts. Sony has asked nicely to knock it off. Apparently you don’t understand.

Keep spamming everything on the net. See how far that gets your beloved one. You are becoming the laughing stock of the industry.

        ^That was in reply to:

I want to bang my head against the wall.

  • J

Not a great week for former idol contestants. Archie’s album sold about 23K in it’s first week out. Lee just announced that his new single which was already promoted by RCA has been changed at the last minute to a different song. I wonder what will happen to the few hundred BSC Glamberts if Adam doesn’t sell 100K the first week with his next cd.

    • DeeDee

Lee’s song is changed to Sweet Serendipity. That’s a tongue twister! Should be fun to hear live if he has to repeat that a lot.

      • deez

Lee should do a duet of that song with either Lou Holtz or Sylvester the Cat.

      • JaneRochester

Maybe Kris can give him some pointers after singing LLWD live for a year.

      • Paulie

Sweet Serendipity? Is this the Neil Diamond remake? :P

Seems like the Glammies are getting to people:

“All obnoxious “Glamberts” GO AWAY. He HAD his chance on the AMA’s last year. It was a mess. He sounded TERRIBLE, he pulled a fast one one the producers, he simulated oral sex, fingered a dancer, embarrassed a nation, then had the audacit…y to flip said nation off at the end, like WE were the ones who offended HIM. You all say he “sells out shows”, WOW, 1,000 seat venues…what a superstar. His crappy CD tanked, he’s not about the music, but more about being in the spotlight over his OTT actions. He blew his shot at credibility right out of the gate.”

    and

“Marie Butler, not everyone agrees with you and your fellow “Glamberts” nor do they think that Lambert is the second coming of Freddie Mercury. He’s done really nothing in the music industry, he didn’t even get a hit single out of his CD. …There are MANY musicians that I like that haven’t been nominated this year, but that’s life and that’s the breaks. I’m just really, REALLY sick of the fans of the extremely overrated Lambert telling the rest of the world how “wonderful” he is. I’ve seen bits of his summer show and it was laughable, his voice is strained, the dancing was horrible and the staged “guy on guy kiss” is ridiculous. We all get that you fans of his think he’s the greatest, but most of us don’t. If he quits his act and FINALLY focuses on the music, maybe we’ll talk. For now, I and many others have no tolerance for another fame ho like him.”

    • ross

In all seriousness, it’s really dumb for the Glamberts to make an issue of Adam not being on the AMAs this year. Of all things! Let it go, people, and just thank your lucky stars he was ever heard from again.

  • Udderly Shiny

Adam Lambert is the greatest singer/entertainer alive today. We will have to settle for that. Who actually nominates the artists for the Grammys? If it’s industry insiders who actually know music, Adam should get a nod.

Top 10 reasons I will NOT watch the AMAs:

    1. It’s on ABC
    2. Danny Gokey?
    3. There is laundry to do
    4. I have a rerun of Ellen on my DVR that I’ve been meaning to watch
    5. I have a rerun of Oprah on my DVR that I’ve been meaning to watch.
    6. Adam is in between performances in Germany on that day and I need to stay close to my computer in case he Tweets.
    7. I’m sure the dishwasher needs to be unloaded and reloaded.
    8. There are soooo many other things on TV that night. TVLand has some great classics on that I need to watch for the 50th time.
    9. Ke$ha? I just put it down because I get to use the vomiting smiley!
    10. After watching endlessly entertaining videos of Adam for a few hours, I will need to get to bed early with my husband.

    and

What about the People’s Choice Awards? Can we get him nominated for these???

 The herd are especially fun today.

      Or THIS!

“My husband said to me last night, “Do you realize that you have Adam in bed with us every night?”
He is referring to my laptop and the internet being stuck on Adamofficial.com.

He said “For the past two years, Ive had to share my bed with that dude. Isn’t there another website you can go to, or another interest you could develop?”

      lol.

I said, “no, sorry baby, there’s not.”

      • ross

Then I’ll bet it won’t be long before hubby will develop another interest.

        • et

No shit. And I’m sure he can find something much more interesting to sleep with than a computer.

Why would someone *post* that? Why would you be proud of that?!

Oh, yeah. Because you are batshit fricking crazy.

          • Burgundy LaRue

Yet if her husband became obsessed with Carrie Underwood, I bet she would have a problem with it. She’s so wrapped up in her sick fantasy world. Her husband is going to smash her laptop, then leave her.

What if Adam doesn’t get nominated for Grammys? I am scared to think about it.

Of course all this Glampocalypse occurs with the theme song “Time for Miracles” playing in the background! Though I think it might just have a disclaimer subliminal message “This was not the first single… this was not the first single…”

I really wonder what Adam thinks (or would think if he’s not aware) of these crazy people, this faction of his fans. I wonder if he despises them or if he loves them. I wonder, if he despises them, what would happen to him if he disowned them or something, declared he wanted nothing to do with them, that they are not what he’s about, if he had the courage to turn on them for the way they treat people, especially Kris Allen. And if he started being for real, authentic. Behaved as his sane fans seem to see him. I wonder…

    • Westie

His sane fans have their own brand of delusion if they think he would ever risk losing a sale by being authentic.

    • http://8sourcandy.wordpress.com/ 8sourcandy

I know all you see are these crazies, but Adam has some awesome fans too. I am sure he recognizes the BSC element, but has enough interaction with us (way less crazy) fans to feel okay about his fan base.

      • nonna-muss

I think it’s like that in every fanbase, Idol or not. There are crazies and normal people who like to listen to music and go to shows. Unfortunately the crazies always seem to strive for the spotlight and catch non-fan attention making all fans look bad.

        • ross

LOL Ross, I keep waiting for the attack of the krazy krisberts but it just doesn’t happen. There are some crazy Kradam people, but they seem to be mostly Adam fans who think Adam should have whatever he wants (even if happens to be a person who doesn’t want him).

          • DeeDee

I really, honestly believe that 99.9% of peeps here realize that. But c’mon, now, you gotta admit… Glamberts are some loud-ass crazies! And this is coming from a Cook fan – we have some charmers of our own!

          • Blue Eyes

Of course, there was that discussion about how he smells… LOL.

      • B York

Maybe the crazies are a minority but they are so VOCAL that you can barely hear any voices of reason over the roar.

I never knew that AI attracted such hardcore fans. I only stumbled onto the AI blogging world to find out what I missed when I didn’t catch an episode or two. MJ, Top Idol, Idletard, Survivor Sucks and VFTW opened my eyes to a fascinating world.

    • Fabgab

Unfortunately I think anyone out there that wants long-lasting success need a certain amount of BSC fans to keep the momentum and interest going in between albums and when things are slow. The reality is, whether or not Adam likes this segment of his fan base at this point in his career he still needs them. The issue is the balance between how much they bolster his career vs. how much they harm it by alienating people.

What about other pop stars with BSC fans (The Beatles, MJ, Elvis, The Greatful Dead, Britany Spears, Lady Gaga)? Have any of them been hurt by their fanbases?

  • jukejoint

I look at that picture and I cannot help but think of “Smell the Glove.”

Bobbi Flekman: You put a greased naked woman on all fours with a dog collar around her neck, and a leash, and a man’s arm extended out up to here, holding onto the leash, and pushing a black glove in her face to sniff it. You don’t find that offensive?

It’s such a fine line between stupid and clever.

Exactly. What did they expect? Delusional is not a strong enough word to describe the BSC Glamberts. Do they not know how the industry works? He has nothing new to offer, calling his tour sold out when comparing it to other acts that toured this year is laughable–U2, Bon Jovi, Springsteen. These people sold out stadiums of 50,000 plus seats, not hole in the wall dives that hold 1,000 cows.

MrPink, are you new around here? ‘Cause you are one kick ass monster. Something about that brain, those wild eyes, that *mouth*. Oh.My.Cod.

        • MrPink

Nah, I’m not new, but I don’t post much. I’m one of those people who dont’ watch Idol but enjoy watching the BSC habits of Idol fandoms.

However, brilliance like this brings me out of the woodwork:

“He must also perform in the money spot on any and all televised awards show. Outer Mongolian Top Sheepherder Awards, I’m looking at you. Oh, and Burkina Faso Big Peanut Prizes, don’t think you’re immune.”

jukejoint, that was funny as hell.

And thanks for your admiration of my monster, and your campaign to have me perform on the AMAs. Thanks to your tarding, I’ve just received my invitation to perform on the show! I wonder who’d like to kiss me, simulate oral sex with me, and pick me up when I fall down during my sexy dance. That’s three positions I need to fill – sign up now!

Can I pick you up when you fall? You can dry hump my leg when doing it, don’t worry.

  • muzikizmi

That is hilarious. They really thought the AMA’s were itching for another dose of Finger Man! I think the half life of strontium 90 will dissipate before the Glambert gets another AMA invite. :D

    • Daf

**runs to Google what the half life of strontium 90 is** Yep, that’s about right.

TI, I’ve managed to get that above image out last year out of my brain file. Thanks for putting it back in. Is there a shortcut for a vomit smiley? :(

      • Daf

        Out last year out?

I think the notion that Adam Lambert put the AMAs on the map is a perfect little snapshop of the delusion of the Herd.

The Herd, it be a tramplin’. Always a new outlet for their outrage for poor, put upon Adam!

    • On The Edge

I think the notion that Adam Lambert put the AMAs on the map is a perfect little snapshop of the delusion of the Herd.

Yep…I guess when Michael Jackson won eight of those suckers back in 1984, the Sparkle Cows were popping out young’uns whilst living under a rock.

Michael who? Where does his voice rank on the list of all-time-rankiest-voices? Does BRIAN MAY say Michael Jackson is awesome?! Huh!?
