Idol Quickies 9-4: The Deja Vu Edition

2010 September 4

Um. Kara’s in, Paula’s gone, Ellen’s in, Simon’s gone, Ellen’s out, Kara’s out, Kara’s back, JLo’s in, Steven Tyler’s in, JLo’s out, Tyler’s a maybe, everybody’s gone!, WAIT…not Randy, Tyler’s in, Kara’s out again, JLo’s back in….is that where we stand? IS THAT IT? Are you sure we won’t wake up tomorrow to discover that Randy’s gone, and Larry the Cable Guy is in? Git r Done Daawwg. GAAHHHH, this is ridiculous (<---note to teenagers on Facebook, there is not, nor will there ever be, an "e" in this word, no matter how often you insist on putting one there. Sorry...pet peeve...also "your" and "you're" are not interchangeable...grrrrrrr.) *sigh* Is anyone buying this manufactured controversy? Why bother? The Season 9 Tour drew scanty crowds. Next season will be worse. Worse, that is (they think), unless they actually manage to find the Holy Grail Bieber Clone they're counting on. The problem is that Justin Bieber will be over ( maybe he will have even reached puberty!) by the time they find Fetus 2.0, and screaming eleven year olds will have moved on to someone else. Fickle. The show's core audience is not interested in floppy-haired fifteen year olds anyway. I feel really sorry for all the kids standing in line for hours and hours, being away from their friends and family, hoping against hope. Y'all are about to get screwed.

But this is probably just reality show karma kicking in.(remember our lovely Paula?) Luckily this guy got out just in time.

Kris, KAB, and Chris Nathan (who I really like) jammed at Cafe 210 after their State College show last night. A few beers seems to have loosened these guys up. The first time I saw Andrew DeRoberts, I thought he suffered from spinal fusion.

That’s more like it. Back in my younger, bar-going days, nothing awesome like this ever happened when I was around.

Meanwhile, back at Glamnation…

Iowans only get treated to “air kisses?” C’mon now. Flyover country always gets the B side. The venue was pretty cool, a stage set up at the end of a bridge:

Adam tweeted after tonight’s show:

# Adam Lambert adamlambert
“where did all their pretty boys go?”
# adamlambert
Seriously… So many in the crowd tonight and not one of y’all stayed after so I could meet ya up close! Lol

Perhaps they got the wrong idea after pantygate?

(Thanks to et and nekola for the assist)

Spread the word. Do it.

    PSA:

Ok, after purging the kingdom, some comments got moved as a result of the zapping of the original comment. If you’re looking for something and can’t find it, check the bottom of the page.

If you will look to your right, you will notice that TI is tweeting again. I’m afraid the end of my reign draws nigh.

      Or something.

I rather liked your zapping. You might need to let TI use your zapping scepter when she returns ;)

Thanks et! Oskar can just claw them!

    • jukejoint

You did great, deez. I’m sorry your patience was tested. All hail deez!

      • et

        Hail Deez! Hail Hail!

I raise my glass to you. Alas, it is a glass of water and not anything more exciting… but the sentiment remains!

      • deez

Ehhh…it wasn’t THAT bad :) .I am glad we will be moving on from this post though!

        • Mothra

I think you should write a post about the long living career of Sanjaya. He will be around for a long time and show all these pretenders how it is done. No one else has that name recognition and instant adulation. And his fans love him and will bring in the traffic to your site.

  • deez

OK. This is what I think I’m gonna do. I’m going to remove all troll comments I can find (or at least the ones that don’t have entertainment value :) ), that way if they comment again, I will know who to ban. Let me know if I miss something.

    • petunia

      Well, pooh.

That will teach me to actually have plans on a holiday weekend – I miss all kinds of fun.

When attending a concert for the Season 8 winner of “American Idol,” one could only assume a crowd of screaming teens and devout reality television viewers would accompany the talented singer.
Unexpectedly, the audience at Tuesday night’s Kris Allen concert at the Overture Center included both families and middle-aged couples, as well as a rather tame hoard of groupies. Besides the surprise in fan demographic…”

an excited mix of moms in cropped pants and crocs, glitter-goth teenagers and beautiful tattooed boys — obviously agreed, squealing with delight when the Season 8 “American Idol” runner-up emerged from his tour bus to sign autographs and take a few pictures.

Teenage girls love Adam Lambert. So do grandmothers. And drag queens. And middle-aged women. And 12-year-old boys who came with their entire family.

For a while I didn’t get why, when most of you are middle-aged (female) Kris fans (or Cook fans or whatever), you’re so fixated on this obviously untrue idea that Adam is the one with predominantly older fans. And I think it’s because you know that Kris has a fairly older fan base, such as you guys, and Adam has a larger proportion of young fans. Topidol really dislikes Adam (she doesn’t hate him or anything, oh no, she just talks all the time about how he’s an arrogant famewhore, lol) and you all want to make yourselves feel better about “Adam vs. Kris” or something, so of course she goes to his concerts and takes pictures of all the older fans she can find and you all try to fool yourselves into thinking it’s an accurate representation.

I could go to a Kris concert and take pictures of all of you and all the other middle-aged housewives and old women and other older fans and say, look, he only has older fans. But I don’t spend that kind of money or energy on someone who I’m not a fan of, and I don’t get why you guys do.

It seems like insecurity on your part. Like you know that from reviews that mention audience members and success on pop radio (which is driven by teens/young adults and where Adam’s had way more success than most idol people) and concert pics and interviews, etc., that Adam has a lot of young fans—more than Kris, most likely, which is probably what bugs you the most. The media perception seems to be that Adam has young fans and is interesting and successful and relevant beyond the Idol bubble, and Kris mainly has conservative housewives as fans and is still in that bubble. And that bothers you. Why else would you spend so much time trying to convince yourselves otherwise?

Again, you’re almost all middle-aged women, in your 40s/50s, give or take a few years.

And it just seems to really bother you that Adam has young fans and Kris has you. And that’s sad, in a way, because there shouldn’t be anything wrong with (sane) older fans. I took my mom to a Gaga concert and no one was like “Ew, middle-aged woman.” But you guys don’t like that Kris has middle-aged fans and Adam has young fan. Well, of course, they both probably have more older fans than non-AI people, but in general it’s pretty clear that Adam’s fan base is younger.

And I know you’ll probably respond with “Sparklecow!” or “troll” or “Stop defending Adam, leave us alone” or talk about the “rawk god” (which, no, he’s dance/pop/rock) or just ban me. But I do think you guys should take a look at yourselves. You’ve driven off all but one of the nice Adam fans who used to hang here and this blog may as well change it’s name to Topidolblog: HATING ADAM LAMBERT TOGETHER because that’s about 80% of what you do. And this is not how I want to be thinking or behaving—with that much bitterness and hatred—when I’m middle-aged. And the hate here is ugly, and the delusion is just really sad.

    • fakeplastictrees

      *its

    • fakeplastictrees

Just a side note but Adam’s always being featured in teen magazines and there was something where they put Bieber’s (ugh) hair on several different singers, including Adam. I liked that they didn’t need to say his full name, just his picture and “ADAM” because the tween and teen readers know who he is. :)

    • muzikizmi

Fakeplastictrees, all you have to do is look at some crowd pics. Kris has ‘some’ middleaged women, but the vast majority is tween to thirty. He also gets a lot of families, because mom and dad trust him not to fondle his or anyone else’s junk during the show.

Adam’s biggest demo is 40 ’til death. Yes, he has ‘some’ younger fans, but the crowd photos tell the story. His PR guy is doing his best to make him a teen hearthrob. Yes, those teen magazine mentions are part of the ‘promo’. No one is arguing with the Glamberts that Adam gets better promo than anyone from Idol. It is obvious to everyone except Glamberts.

      • deez

You guys can argue about this til the cows come home (lol, sorry), and neither of you will change the other’s mind. Both fanbases are gifting the middle-aged housewife demographic to the other side. Probably, it would be best to hear the thoughts of someone who’s attended both shows (and doesn’t have an ax to grind). I think both Rickey and Jim Cantiello (maybe Slezak) have been to both shows. I don’t know they’d want to answer that question, though. Whatever they said would alienate somebody.

You can’t really do it with photos. Somebody is always gonna claim cherry-picking.

        • muzikizmi

Queen Deez, I submit this article in the Houston Chronicle as exibit 1.A.

          http://blogs.chron.com/tubular/archives/2010/09/glamberts_unite.html

Apparently this concert tomorrow night is not SOLD OUT!

          • jukejoint

God, that’s depressing. And when I say “god,” I do not mean any perceived or actual “rawk gawd.”

I mourn for any woman who thinks it’s a positive thing to feel sexual and maternal and spiritual, all at the same time, for a guy who is half her age. It’s incestuous and profane, all at once. I mourn for the poor “rawk gawd” who has to bear the burden of all that.

          • barado

“But by and large, these groups of women have emerged as the singer’s most vocal supporters. They champion his causes, spout off biographical information, rush to defend his honor.” It makes me wonder who they are online. Gene, is that you?

          • deez

Scores of local Glamberts are also traveling to New Orleans for a Sept. 12 show and a raucous after-party at Oz, a popular gay club.

Lol. I bet the regulars @ that club are gonna LOVE that.

          • mtlfan

hahaha i would pay to see the ‘invasion’ effects on the local crowd

    • DavidCookRulezTheWorld

I think the problem Faketrees is that Kris fans are not OTT. They dress like normal human beings and not like a 55 year old granny trying to look like a teeny-bopper or a poor imitation of Dr. Frank N. Furter!!!11!1 Tell me…….how many sparlky/glittery outfits did you own before Adam? How many bottles of black or blue nail polish did you own before Adam? My guess is none. I bet you have some now.

Cook fans may be rediculous (ha-ha) but they aren’t wearing spandex and glitter and fishnets!!!!11!!! It’s the way the Glamberts present themselves that make people point their fingers and laugh. It’s Adam’s outrageous behavior that makes people snicker. Do you see that? If Cook or Kris acted the way that Adam does we would enjoy mocking them just as much. Cook and Kris act like musicians. See the difference?

      • deez

        rediculous

        smartass. LOL.

      • Beanbag

Lambert played a concert near me last night, and the “review” today (such as it was) was interesting, to say the least. Very little mention of Lambert himself, except for his “controversies” and appearance. Most of the write-up was quotes from people standing in line beforehand. And yes, “glambert”, “sparkle”, “black spandex” and “big hair” were all duly noted. As were ages, and the number of times some of these ladies had been to concerts.

Cook’s concert review from last year was so different. The reviewer mentioned his voice, his rapport with the audience, his pre-Idol work and his charm. Only brief mentions of the crowd (enthusiastic, on their feet), no mention of age, appearance or nicknames.

One is a media celebrity, one is a musician.

        • Beanbag

I have a monster! And it’s fugly! And I’m replying to myself!!

          • deez

Arrow monsters are not fugly. I resent that.

          • Beanbag

Whoops. Um, it was not the girlish figure of the arrow itself I dislike, ha ha. It’s the somewhat spidery legs. I hate spiders. Your blue arrow is lovely, of course.

            Ha, ha??

          • deez

            :)

    • Blue Eyes

I don’t care who has old fans and who has young fans. It’s the OTT tarding the old women do that make me laugh. The younger women tard, but they can get away with it because, well, they are young, but you old women are supposed to be wise and mature and you’re acting like silly teens. And Kris seems to have less old women tarding over him.

      • DeeDee

I have been to both shows and do not have an axe to grind. I am a huge Kris fan but I like Adam and think he is very talented. I think he is a sweet guy but a bit immature and his main goal is fame and fortune (nothing wrong with that as long as you stay true to yourself). Both shows had a mix of families as well as older women. Adam’s show was about 20 percent young people while Kris had about 50-60% . Adam did have more people attend his show so the total number are probably closer. There were some “mature” women dressed all ridiculous at Adam’s show to be sure.

    • ross

deez, I thought you meant they put the “e” on the end of ridiculous. I have seen that, too: “ridiculouse.” Also, “jelouse.” But maybe they’re French. Ah, oui.

      • ross

I don’t think these pictures are selective – from the Mixfest concert, Kris and the fans waiting to get his picture and autograph. Now, if Lambert were in this concert, would these pictures be the same?

        http://mix1041.radio.com/2010/08/02/mixfest-2010-photos/#photo-136

Here’s a pic of the girl who won a chance to play Guitar Hero with Kris:

        http://mix1041.radio.com/2010/08/02/mixfest-2010-photos/#photo-140

Just as an example. I said there are a lof of very attractive young women who are Kris fans. Just something I’ve observed. They’re not exclusively his type of fan but there are a lof of them.

        • ross

Damn, those didn’t work right. Well, just find picture #136 and #140. You can change the number at the top (web address) and bring up the pictures. Or just look at all the pictures, they’re good!

      • deez

LOL….looking at facebook is painful. I almost ran off the road one day while gawking in disbelief at a sign in front of a business. It read something like:

” Try our 1/3 l.b. cheeseburger’s, your gonna love em!”

*sigh* I guess I need to get over it.

        • et

deez, are you an English major too? It is *painful* to be an English major.

          • margie

No wonder you guys write so well. I have typos all over the place and can’t write to save my life. I seriously paid my friends to write my English papers in college. I majored in accounting. I am a math nerd…. it is the language I speak..lol :)

          • et

LOL, my husband is a math/science/logical sort of guy and I’m the English major/head in the clouds one. Figured that if we could split those genes 50/50 with our kids we’d have geniuses… but it doesn’t seem to work that way, instead the 50/50 is one science/math brained kid and one artsy fartsy 4 year old who likes to draw and went to soccer practice wearing one blue glove and one red glove. And yeah, he’s a boy ;)

    • ross

Why are we still on this Sanjaya shit? Can we put an end to this? Somehow? Off topic, perhaps???

      • Mothra

Your little Idol would do well to seek out the advice of Sanjaya. As would you, if you really want to see a quality performer have the audience eating out of his hand without having to resort to groping the crowd.

      • deez

        *sigh*

Perhaps it’s time for some more zapping??

      • et

*Rubs hands together with glee at thought of Queen Dee zapping*

      • et

Well, rubs claws together. I guess my little blue did is hands-free.

      • et

        Blue did? Blue DUDE, maybe?

    • et

Wow, feel better? I know I do. I like to be analyzed by people who have never met me and know nothing about me. It’s awesome.

We seem to get young folks like you popping in and lecturing us oldies. But it would be *really* great if you’d quit generalizing. We’re not all the same age, we’re not all bitter, we’re not all jealous, and we’re *gasp* not even all Kris fans.

BTW, ALL male Idols have lots of middle aged women as fans. Even your Adam. If you think he doesn’t, you’re delusional. I could care less if he has more, less, equal to Kris/Cook/Clay/Sanjaya (heh). He DOES have middle aged woman fans, and quite a few of them.

      • margie

I can’t comment on the age of his crowds because I haven’t been to one of his headlining shows. I saw him with Maroon 5 and just happened to be out one night drinking at a bar and he and his band popped in a played for a bit. That was a nice, fun surprise. :) What I found interesting though was from Rickey’s review that Kris had more younger fans than Archie. What is Archie’s fanbase like?

        • magnacarta

Archie has a lot of tweens as fans but also a lot of moms and grandmother types who think he’s so precious and so adorable…

    • oddgirl

      TO; Fakeplastictrees

Um, you didn’t read that review correctly. It doesn’t say Kris’s audience was made up entirely or even primarily of families and middle-aged couples — it said the audience INCLUDED them. I have been to multiple concerts by Kris — his core audience is women in the 16-35 age range, but also includes a lot of the following: women over the age of 35, younger kids and men (both gay and straight). The last concert I went to of Kris’s was probably 65%/35% women to men ratio.

Likewise, Adam’s audience is not made up entirely or primarily of any one demographic. He is going to have a mix of a bunch of different demographics, men (gay or straight), tweens, younger women, etc. However, he does have a lot of fans who would be classified as middle-aged (or older) women. So does Kris, so does pretty much everyone to ever come off of AI. It really isn’t something Adam, Kris, or any of the other ex-Idols need to be ashamed of — last I looked the money these middle-aged women spend on music/concerts is just as good as the money spent by younger women or men.

    • magnacarta

Not that it’s any of your business, but I’m 23. That hardly makes me middle-aged. Why do you think TI’s readers are all middle-age women?

      • et

Why do you think TI’s readers are all middle-age women?

It conveniently fits into the theory that everyone here is old, bitter Kris fans that are jealous of all of Adam’s young/MAC model fans?

  • J

Woah, I go away for a couple of weeks and there are so many new posts here I’ll never catch up. A lot of good and some odd points made in this thread.

The idol judges, not buying at all that every chair is open. It’s a lame attempt at building drama and interest in a show that has gone to shit. DavidCookRulezTheWorld LMAO thanks that was good. Not sure it was Cook but something definitely broke Idol. The producers are so far out of touch with what’s popular these days. They seem to think that because a ton of watchers voted for Cook, Kris and Lee that their music will sell well to the general public. The problem is that the people voting are 10-14 year old kids and older females. The age group that really drives the music industry, listens to the pop radio stations etc is the 15-25 year old demographic. They are the young adults who will spend the money on music and the ones that radio stations are targeting with their play lists. But they are not the main viewers or voters for Idol. It’s a hard thing for recent idols to gain new fans and build a following outside the middle aged female group.

I can’t remember who but someone compared Lambert and Cook as far as dealing with their fans. Cook did try once to get the crazies to back off. He wrote a blog and got slammed by the media for it. Since then he hasn’t said a damn thing that could be construed as negative about his fans. I feel for the guy. I’m sure he wants to tell some of them to eff off. But he learned his lesson and you don’t see him tweeting to ask where all the pretty young girls are. Adam on the other hand has made it very clear with his tweets that he’d love to toss his sparkle cows and have pretty boys at and after his shows. He tweeted this a few days ago http://yfrog.com/5a2prcj Not sure if that’s a band member or fan with him in the twitpic.

I liked Alison on the show but I’m not surprised she isn’t selling well. I’m having trouble seeing how her voice, performance style and music fit in with what is popular these days. I think she could carve out a nice career with an indie label. I don’t see her ever hitting super star status but she can certainly have a successful career making music.

    • Blue Eyes

I think Taylor Hicks broke Idol.

    • Krisdarling

So you know who the amazing indie sensation known as Kris Allen is yet you don’t know who Jake Shears from Scissor Sisters is? Smh at you.

    • caspar

I think Alison has a great voice, but her look, performance style and horrible mushmouth problem killed her. Touring with Lambert didn’t help, either. I don’t want to sound condescending or racist, but she would be GREAT as a Tejano-style artist at least for a while. There’s no reason she can’t come back to a more rock/pop style when she’s matured, gotten her visuals and enunciation issues under control, and perhaps waited out a new direction in music (the GaGa stuff can’t last much longer, can it, please say no!?).

As to the built-in Idol audience of pretweens and 40-somethings, well, Daughtry and (for that matter) Kris seem to have transcended those groups, right? Different levels of commercial success, but still, broader audiences. And I do think younger people are listening to/buying Adam’s stuff, even if they aren’t coming to see him live. And, with absolutely no evidence, I also think Cook has a larger male audience (buying CD’s, at least, if not attending shows) than he gets credit for.

  • deez

Kris screws up J&D, and Keith calls him out, lol:

    • http://princessleia04.livejournal.com SarahBeth

      Heee.

I was at the show in CT last night and it was the funniest thing when Kris screwed up the words. Or rather, completely forgot them. It was even funnier when Keith mocked him.

    • http://princessleia04.livejournal.com SarahBeth

Oh and also, the concert was absolutely awesome last night. Kris was FABULOUS and while I’m not a huge country fan by any means, Keith was great too. And I don’t feel like he’s *that* country. He’s more….pop/rock/crossover, so I really enjoyed myself. Definitely one of my top shows I’ve been to and I’m really excited to see Kris again in October with Lifehouse. :)

      • ross

I also thought Kris was freaking FABULOUS. I wrote some more down below on the page someplace. Down past the trolling, somewhere (I go away fro 48 hours. Geez.)

Kris messed up Jack and Diane a little – but only slightly – in Vermont. I gotta say, that song does nothing for me in terms of his singing it – I don’t think it’s in his style at all. I think he feels that way, too, and he’s got some passive-agressive need to screw it up. lol

I was surprised when the reviewer deez linked to in this thread suggested he should be doing music like that. Definintely not, in my humblest of humble opinions.

Anyhow, he didn’t look to me to have the same high energy singing that as he did his own set, when I saw him. Then again, I think that after his set is over, it’s probably a little hard to come out during Keith’s set and ratchet up the energy from scratch. Also, I think he’s a little in awe of Keith. Just guessing.

        • ross

I meant to write “for 48 hours”. Not “fro 48 hours.” “Fro” is a hairstyle.

          • deez

I’m imagining your tomato with a tight lil’ fro.

          • jukejoint

Wouldn’t a fro block our view of the unicorn horn?

          • ross

If I had a fro I’d want one as big as Angela Davis’s, or that redheaded guy on Room 222 (dating myself quite a bit with that reference. I love you, Karen Valentine!). And I’d wear a fro pick in it.

          • jukejoint

There was a girl in my high school class with a HUGE fro. It looked really cool day to day, but was bad in her yearbook picture, because her face is way smaller than everyone else’s (quite tiny, actually) to accomodate the whole fro in the picture.

          • ross

            Hahaha! :)

        • jukejoint

I actually think John Mellencamp’s brand of country/Heartland rock with some catchy pop overtones would be a good path for Kris to follow. Not exactly, of course. But closer than the Michael Buble or John Mayer or Jason Mraz comparisons. You think John Mellencamp (putting aside the John Cougar thing) and you get an image that is authentic, Heartland, populist, organic… All things that could work really well for Kris in the long-run. Fingers crossed!

I actually think John Mellencamp’s brand of country/Heartland rock with some catchy pop overtones would be a good path for Kris to follow.

That’s pretty far from what he does. I saw him do Jack and Diane a few nights ago, and believe me it was not his type of material. Nor would he ever write anything like that. I hate that song. I’m not crazy about John Mellencamp. But I’m a fan of Kris. Explain.

You think John Mellencamp (putting aside the John Cougar thing) and you get an image that is authentic, Heartland, populist, organic… All things that could work really well for Kris in the long-run.

Yes, that’s exactly what I think of when I think of him. No, I do not think of those things when I think of Kris.

Do you realize that on AI the majortiy of Kris’s covers were songs by black r&b artists? Kris is Kris. He does what he does. I’m sure he’ll continue to be Kris, and do what he does. He covers Cooloio and Radiohead. He writes songs like I Need To Know. Country rock? No.

Also, I did a write up of the show last night on my blog, if anyone’s interested.

overkill! thats all i can muster in regards to the daily judge’s table update. i dont believe Nigel for one second that the chairs are ALL up for grabs. its all part of the marketing/media blitz to create buzz. it worked a bit in the begining but it has overstayed its welcome. im ready for some definite news. no more rumours.

maybe adam’s peeps should start scanning the crowd for good looking men and pass out vip/backstage passes to them…..the guy needs some fun on the road, especially given the physical appearance of his main demographic.

    • Nich

Isn’t that what the heavy metal dudes used to do in their heyday? I think I saw it on a Behind The Music once.

(I felt a void, and needed to type that in all caps :) )

    • jukejoint

I do kind of like the idea that we call these people MEATROLLS, though. So at least one of them was worth something.

      • Red Baronness

        Mmmmmm….meatrolls….(drools) (/Homer Simpson)

      • et

Haha, that made me laugh too. MEATROLLS!

  • et

Whoa, I am a post HO.

I was gone all day again, what can I say.

  • Salleyanne

Hey deez are you okay after dealing with all the trolls tonight?

    • deez

Heads are fixin’ to roll, lol.

I’m in the middle of Mad Men people TRY TO BE NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      • margie

They are just trolls from the ontd_bl site. Pay no attention to them :)

    • Mothra

I find you incredibly judgemental. Sanjaya would want you to embrace each other, we are one people. Do you not find love in your heart for others?

      • et

Oh, no, Mothra, what have you done? All I can think about now is Mothra and the little singsongy “Mootttthhhhrraaaa…”

        Heh.

        • jukejoint

Anxiously awaiting the bug spray. You know, the kind that kills trolls dead? What with the fake “Mothra” and the fake pottery expert and the fake lipslovah, I am getting dizzy.

          • et

I think I’ll upgrade Queen Deez from smacking with her scepter to beheading with a broadsword?

  • fakeplastictrees

“They might also be afraid Adam will rape them as Caspar said, lol. Tongue-diving, blow job simulations… who knows what Adam could do.”

This probably won’t be well-received coming from a newb, but while not liking Adam is fine, comments like this are wrong. Adam as a rapist or someone who can’t control himself sexually and might attack people? Really?

He kissed a young guy and a young girl/woman (she was in her 20s, so whatever you want to call it). Both of them looked totally thrilled before (and he said that if he felt like doing that he would only go for people who were clearly flirting and into it) and even more thrilled after–there’s a hilarious picture of the boy like blissfully smiling, it’s pretty cute.

It’s not anything different, and it’s a lot less “scandalous”, than what a lot of pop or rock singers do on stage in concert. It seems more driven by the intense hatred of Adam here than by reality to say that he’s doing something disgusting when a lot of other artists do the same thing.

Suggesting that Adam would rape or assault people feels like part of the homophobic stereotype of gay men as uncontrollable sexual predators, even if that’s not how it was intended.

    • fakeplastictrees

Basically the short version is that not liking Adam is one thing, but many of you seem to spend so much time and energy hating him that it goes to a very ugly place, and talking about him like a rapist or a sexual predator is going way too far into that ugliness.

      • Mothra

It concerns me that you feel this way about the situation. Please indicate where people are inferring that Adam is a sexual predator? I find his actions potentially offensive, he really needs to get some counselling on how to interact with his audience. When I saw Sanjaya performing live in a school gymnasium, he never felt that groping or handling the audience was at all appropriate. Perhaps Adam needs to seek some guidance from him as to how to handle sudden fame.

        • Gene

          @Mothra

Why should anyone seek some guidance from Sanjaya performing live in a school gymnasium LOL. He is not even a pop/rock star. Acts like Katy Perry and Billie Joe from Green Day kiss audience members during their performances and you don’t see people making a big deal about it. If you don’t like a performer, then just don’t go to their concert. Simple.

          • deez

OK, I don’t have the patience for this much longer. I have a Mad Men recap to write. Both of you two have been warned previously to end the nonsense, yet you persist. There’s funny and there’s annoying. You guys are past the point of annoying. One more peep from either of you (god I feel like this is nursery school) with the shit-stirring and that’s it.

I didn’t wanna go there, but I will. I want the floors spotless for when Mom gets home, and if that means wiping it with you two, so be it.

this is to Gene and SHOUTY TROLL.

    • comer

Where are you getting the notion of rape/sexual predator in that comment? Are you being serious? LOL Both tongue-diving and blow job simulations are things Adam has engaged in before so I don’t see what’s so offensive about suggesting he could repeat those actions. You’re the one reading into that comment and interpreting it as rape.

Everyone knows Adam’s not known for his self control (AMAs anyone?), but no one suggested that he is a sexual predator. Please stop trying to find random things to complain about in order to defend Adam. Thanks.

      • fakeplastictrees

“They might also be afraid Adam will rape them as Caspar said.”

…isn’t that saying that Adam might rape or sexually assault someone?

        • rehabilitard

“He kissed a young guy and a young girl……. Both of them looked totally thrilled before”

So if some young girl admires her boss at work it is OK for him to stick his tongue down her throat? I bet you would call that sexual harrassment, wouldn’t you. Sparkle Cows will defend Adam no matter what he does.

          • fakeplastictrees

Okay, first, I think I’m being polite so there’s no need to go to the Sparkle Cow stuff. Second, the average age here seems to be 40s and I’m in college (and not cow-like), so at least go with sparkle calf or something along those lines.

And of course that would be sexual harassment–but seriously, you can’t see how this situation and that situation are totally different?

Sometimes singers kiss people or do other things with them at concerts. People from Elvis to Jake Shears (Scissor Sisters) have kissed audience members. Are they all sexual harassers too?

        • comer

If you want to take it literally, then yes. lol. Or you could have common sense and read the next sentence and see “tongue-diving, blow job simulations” and see what I meant.

          • deez

To determine whether or not something is true sexual harassment, one must invoke the “Tom Brady Rule.”

          • jukejoint

            I agree with deez.

I’m too lazy to copy/paste a bunch of crap, so if anybody wants to check out tonight’s concert thread, here it is. In case anyone doesn’t know, tonight is Kris’s final appearance for his summer tour…he’s opening again for Keith Urban. It’s Keith’s final tour show as well, so there could some interesting things happening.

  • muzikizmi

I am beginning to think that MamaSox is smarter than I previously thought. Allison played Jive’s game, and it doesn’t appear to be working for her. If Crystal is next to be a ‘one and out’, then it should at least be the one she wants to make.

    • Mothra

Sanjaya was very wise when he played the 19 game and was never trapped in one of their restrictive contracts. Idols would do well to follow his example towards a long term success. He will be around far longer than anyone.

That’s pretty disgusting if the way Jive makes this known is by just removing her from their website. Wouldn’t you think they would make some kind of announcement first?
          Assholes.

          • et

I think someone posted at MJs that this has happened to dropped Idols before, but I don’t know for sure, I haven’t followed things that closely.

          • margie

I think this is how other Idols have been dropped before. They just take their name off the label list of artists.

This is sad for Allie if this is really true.

          • Blue Eyes

Jive never promoted this cd. So what do you expect?

          • Gene

To be fair, Allison did get some major promos (the radio appearances, Good Morning America, Jimmy Kimmel, the AOL sessions, the Ellen show, NYE show, SYTYCD etc.). I think She got more promos than Danny Gokey did, but Danny outsold her. The problem I see is that Allison was never able to go out and connect with audiences in way where she could build a strong fan base. And that goes back to her Idol days. Can’t just keep saying it was all Jive’s fault.

        • muzikizmi

Yep. This is the way it is done. The artist usually if forbidden to talk about it for 6 months. By the time the label announces the drop, it is ancient history. They do this in hopes that time away from the public will lessen the artist’s popularity. The last thing the label wants, is for a dropped artist to move over to a new label, while the public still remembers them.

          • et

            The music business is brutal.

    • Red Baronness

What et said. The sad thing is, these shenanigans are pretty much part and parcel for the music business. They don’t care about good music anymore. They care about what sells. And what sells, frankly, is auto-tuned drone crap. I have had enough of Ke$ha, IYaz and their musical sockpuppets to last me a lifetime, thank you very much.

  • et

Hmm, what I find pathetic is someone going to Adam’s official website just to seek fan’s comments like that.

Hellooooo, Gene, Adam’s *thread* not Adam’s *site*. What, we’re not allowed to go to MJs now if we aren’t super duper Adam fans?

And once again, you have to bring up Kris. While you call people pathetic for talking about Adam. Interesting. Let’s do a little cheer: How do you spell Gene? H-Y-P-O-C-R-I-T-E! Woohoo!

    • et

      Yay, thanks Queen Deez!

    • Daf

If Gene is like any other opinionated, rude, pig headed, one sided, bane of the internets Glambarf fan, then she doesn’t care a thing about being a hypocrite. It’s what they do best. I’ve never, ever run into a more obnoxious group of people in my life. Thank God I don’t know any in “real” life.

      • Gene

        @Daf

Take a look in the mirror hypocrite. You are the one who have been spewing hatred and making bigoted remarks. Kris doesn’t get attacked that often personally, more people criticize his music style/him not selling well, than anything else. Adam mostly gets attacked on a personal level here. Opinionated, rude, pig headed, one sided…those are just reflections of yourself. If Kris is a good role model, then you would do well to try and learn how to be a good, open-minded human being from him.

        • deez

Daf is not a Kristard, so I’m not sure she cares to emulate him…but now that everyone’s said what they had to say…let there be an end to it.

          • comer

Yes, I agree we should end it. Gene is clearly a hypocritical sparkle cow trying to cause trouble.

        • Blue Eyes

Wow Gene, how about you take some of your own advice? Telling Daf to be a good person and then calling him/her a bunch of names. Look at yourself in the mirror before casting stones.

  • muzikizmi

An Adam fan at MJs posted that the Jive artist roster at their website, no longer includes Allison. Orianthi is also missing. Now we know why there was talk of the two of them forming a band. Obviously, opening for the Glambert is the career kiss of death.

    • sodagrape

Orianthi was never with Jive — she’s signed to Geffen.

But it is likely that Allison was dropped. I really like her, and hopefully another label will pick her up down the road and figure out how to properly market her. (Though to be fair, all of the blame for Allison’s failure can’t be placed on Jive, but they certainly made a lot of mistakes.)

      • JaneRochester

Do we think she’ll lean toward harder rock? What label would be a good home for her?

        • muzikizmi

It would be really interesting if 19E places Ali with Universal. I almost wish Kris could leave Jive. I think Universal would be a much better fit for him, too.

          • jukejoint

Maroon 5 is under the Universal umbrella at A&M/Octone. John Mayer and Train are with the Aware imprint with Universal distribution. So, yeah, there are places for Kris there.

I think Allison needs development time and maybe a role on a Disney show where she plays Miranda Cosgrove’s BFF or something and also sings. She isn’t ready to be Pink yet, and that’s what she seems to want. I don’t know, maybe the Disney channel is too pop and cutesie for her, but they seem to spawn a lot of talent that ends up not all that pop or cutesie when they get a little older. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with Allison as is, just that opening for or being identified with Adam and his glam circus may not have been the best idea, since that’s not really who she is or what she does and it’s a little mature for the fans most likely to support her or buy her stuff. I guess maybe I think she needs to put together a band or get asked to front some other band and some time to figure out her identity. Kind of like Carly from Season 7.

          • muzikizmi

Jukejoint, that is exactly what I meant. All of the bands/artists to whom Kris is most often compared (except the Script), seem to be with some unit of Universal, and seem to be doing great.

          • jukejoint

My husband’s favorite band, Guster, is also at Aware. They’ve never sold that much as far as I know, but they have a rabid following and do very well live. They’re also green, which I appreciate. AND they are one of Maroon 5′s opening acts this tour. So, you know, I like the Aware/Universal approach when it comes to Guster.

        • sodagrape

I can’t really see Allison doing harder rock, but I would like to see her head more in the pop-rock direction. Jive tried to push her more in the pure pop direction, but Allison just doesn’t have the engaging personality or stage presence to really sell it.

Ideally, I want her to take a couple of years to grow up a bit (musically and personality-wise), maybe front a band, and really figure out what music *she* wants to make. But, as long as she’s still with 19M (and in their good graces, which I think she is) I don’t see that happening. They’re probably already shopping her to one of the Universal labels.

      • muzikizmi

You are right about Ori. 19E was the common factor, not Jive.

    • Gene

Yeah, and it’s Adam’s fault that Kris’s new single has flopped.

      • muzikizmi

Ah Jean, you still have the same sense of humor. None.

      • et

What on earth does Kris have to do with Allison being dropped or not? Oh yeah, because you can make some loose association to stir up shit. LOL. See? PredictableGene!

        • Gene

It is muzikizmi who made some loose association to stir up shit. Adam has nothing to do with Jive’s business decision and blaming him for Allison’s failure is ridiculous.

          • muzikizmi

Jean, can’t you find any infants to steal candy from today? Nobody cares about your dance pop gawd, who uses a vocal backing track.

          • et

Please, Gene. NOBODY mentioned Kris here in this conversation but you. Nobody. Allison was opening for Adam = fact. We’re discussing Allison. Conjectures about why Allison was dropped = on topic speculation. If that happens to mean that one thinks that Adam is the kiss of death, so be it. You don’t have to agree. But it is absolutely pathetic to continue to throw around “Kris Allen” like some stick to scold the not-Adam-fans with. And, predictably but annoying – you continue to mistakenly assume that everyone here and/or everyone who is not an Adam fan is a Kris fan. Logic fail.

          • DeeDee

Gene why do you feel the need to defend Adam at all times against any criticism? Both Adam and Kris are big boys and can take care of themselves. Also muzik is right, any positive review or article on Kris brings out Kerry and her minions to throw around the “boring, failure, cheater” nonsense. And guess what, I read it and do not feel compelled to log on and defend his honor!
I also guess you didn’t pick up that I just commented positively on Adam in this thread. People can like or be neutral on Adam and still not like everything he does or says.

      • Mothra

If only Adam had talked to Sanjaya, then his music would not be flopping all over the place. he needs guidance.

    • DeeDee

At the Staten Island concert Allison was not good. I like her and I was very disappointed in her performance. Her stage presence has improved since the last time I saw her, but she does too much shouting and during her fast numbers she was unintelligible. Some of that was probably due to the sound system because even Adam was not particularly clear, but at least I could understand what he was singing. She just seems to be trying too hard. Adam was much, much better than her and much more restrained oddly enough. My husband agreed with me.

    • et

I’ve never seen Alison live but I think she’s pretty awesome. *However*, it seems to me like she’s stuck in between kid/woman – she’s young, but she has that old, raspy voice. So while that voice should be singing mature songs — she’s just a kid. I hope that she gets another shot, I really think she’s a talented girl. But the voice and the person haven’t quite matured together, at least for me.

      • Blue Eyes

I think with Allison’s voice, she would do well with rock. I say form a rock band.

I saw Allison at the Idols Live show and was in the third row. She has a great voice, but her movements on stage were manic and over the top. Hopefully, she has improved her performing skills since then.

  • deez

I think both Ross and Mtlfan went to Kris/ Keith Urban tonight. I read that the crowd was dead for the entire show. I’ve been to shows like that where you want to get up and sing along/dance/whatever, but nobody else is…so you just sit there too. Blah.

Maybe we’ll get a joint recap sometime tomorrow!

(Ross & Mtl, if you want to write up something formal, I’ll give you a post….or you can just comment about it here in this thread!)

    • muzikizmi

According to the krijalist twitter feed, the crowd did finally come alive during Live Like We’re Dying. That is the hazard of being the ‘warm up’ act. They have to go out to a ‘cold’ crowd and get them fired up for the main attraction.

      • ross

Maybe I’ll write something like a recap, later, but I just got home about an hour ago. The Champlain Valley area is gorgeous. Go there, if you ever get the chance.

Things seem to get oversimplified on twitter lists and people draw conclusions.

Having been there – it’s kind of complicated, but I’d say the grandstand was, at first, more loud and vocal for Kris than the orchestra. The orchestra had a large number of Keith Urban fans from Quebec. I don’t think the grandstand did (we ended up sitting in both places – went into the grandstands a while when it rained). I don’t even know how big AI is in Quebec. From what I’ve heard, not really. (They have Nouvelle Star. In fact, the winner of that show was at our show – Maxime Landry).

Anyhow, I didn’t think it was a bad crowd. Kris got lots of applause and lots of cheers after all his numbers, and people sang along, and so forth. But they’re there to see a Keith, and they know all his songs. They haven’t necessarily come to see Kris, and, except for LLWD and possibly The Truth, they don’t know his songs. I would think it would be weird if they just started tarding as if he was their favorite artist after he sang one song, or something. You have to be realistic.

I actually thought it was cool when these people in cowboy hats got up and were dancing and singing along to LLWD. The audeince seemed more into him with each number. This is the key thing, isn’t it? If they become disinterested and the performer loses them, because they’re bored – well, this happens with opening acts too. People basically want them to get off the stage. So the opposite is to get them more and more interested, and I’m pretty sure that happened.

Anyhow, this was my first time seeing the full band “plugged in.” I’d seen the five of them do a semi-acoustic show, which was awesome, and then I saw Kris and Cale, another time. I never find anything I say adequate to describe the experience of seeing Kris live, but this time I feel he was on another level. I can’t describe it without tarding. Just awesome.

        • DeeDee

Glad you had such a good time Ross. Tard as much as you like since TI is away and you may not get another opportunity!

        • magnacarta

It’s actually called Star Académie, not Nouvelle Star, and I always thought Maxime Landry was the Danny Gokey of Quebec lol

Anyhow, yeah, the show was awesome. I can’t really tard very well. I’ll have to take lessons from the fans of *other idols*. I just have to say, I basically stood there with my mouth open a lot, at Kris’s brilliance as a singer, his sense of rhythm, his great voice. What else can I say. Some feel this way, some do not.

First time I saw him (Worcester, Christmas, semi-acoustic, 4 guys on stools, plus Ryland on drums), I thought the whole set was like gems. Perfect sound, harmony, perfect size for the venue. Every song like a well-crafted thing. Then this time, Kris and the band really put on a big, rocking, fun show – again, perfectly attuned to the venue. Yet amazingly there was still a lot of subtle stuff to enjoy if you were inclined to hear it.

The only thing I wanted was video screens. Luckily Kris wore a white shirt, and since it was such a dark, cloudy, windy, at times rainy evening, that white shirt really stood out in the spotlight.

As much as I wish I could have gone to the Penn State show I bet there’s no way I would have stumbled across the aftershow shenanigans. Thank goodness for YouTube. And regarding Adam and his tweet, he can feel & tweet whatever he wants. But I agree if Cook or any other single male Idol performer had done that people would have pissed. I know I would have been.

    • Gene

Err, Cook is straight and Adam is gay. There is a difference. If a male performer had mostly male fans and he tweets about pretty female fans, then male fans wouldn’t make a fuss about it.

      • comer

Yes, there is a difference, Gene. Cook accepts what his fan base, and doesn’t it make it known on various occasions that he wishes it were different. Adam, on the other hand, can’t stand performing for mostly older cougars and desperately seeks ways of making that known in hopes it will change. Poor thing is delusional for thinking that’s possible, but hey he can try all he wants. He panders to the older female crowd by doing the things he does and is then disappointed when they’re the only ones waiting in line to meet him. The irony there is quite amusing, I must say.

      • Daf

I’m pretty sure it’s only Madame who trolls Twitter for strange pieces. I kind of feel sorry for him.

      • Nich

I really don’t have time to figure out your “logic” or to be pulled into a stupid fight.

        • Mysterioso

Adam was caught hitting on some random Twink from Florida on Twitter last year. He screwed up while trying to send a private message that went public. Suddenly this gay guy had tons of Sparkle Cows who all wanted to be his Twitter friends. The dude turned out to have a criminal record.

I know this for a fact, because I helped break the story. :)

          • Dyneri1

now that is pitiful – and scummy, lol. can’t this guy get a piece without broadcasting it to the world, or away from the internet… hooking up w/ potential sex partners via the net.. hmmm… sounds a little clay aiken-ish, when he was busted trying to get laid using the net…
            stank and skank, lol.

          • Mothra

I find it very concerning that Adam would do such a thing. Sanjaya likes using Twitter but he doesn’t respond to the women who stalk him across the country because Sanjaya is a wonderful person who wouldn’t want to have sex with random strangers. Adam needs to turn to Sanjaya for some advice on how to handle the situation and make the most of the experience before his career ends abruptly. Idol would be wise to give a judging position to Sanjaya, he would be the best person to assist the Idols. Sanjaya is amazing. Adam could learn a lot from him.

      • et

Gene, that’s not even logical. I mean, no shit it’s different since Adam is looking for people with penises and Cook is not (I assume). But Adam is tweeting looking for someone different than his usual fans – therefore the comparison that Cook would be tweeting looking for someone different than his usual fans is valid.

Or something. I don’t know why I respond to PredictableGene. Though I’m disappointed Gene’s not a dude. For some reason just another woman defending poor put upon Adam is not nearly as exciting ;)

        • Daf

Mothra, I agree! Sanjaya is awesome and he is quite professional in his job. He delivered my pizza quickly and with a smile!

  • deez

    Nice review:

KAB minus Kris, plus Chris Nathan

  • deez

    TIMMEH!!!

A nice in-tune rendition. Good job! (for a moment, I thought he had shoulder pads on. WTF? Then I remembered those pictures, lol)

    • jukejoint

So was Timmeh! pumping iron on the road? He was lifting Big Mike instead of vice versa? He looks more buff (and you’re right, especially in the shoulders) now.

      • muzikizmi

He is wearing shoulder pads. They look like the small ones that wide receivers wear. That rainbow shape above the #30 on his jersey sleeve is the give away. But yeah, he has some muscles too.

        • muzikizmi

Hmmm, I may have to correct myself. There is a closer pic at mjs of his halftime performance, and there are no shoulder pads in that one.

          • JaneRochester

Face it, muzikizmi: from the neck up he’s a sweet little kid. From the neck down, he’s a god.

          • et

That provides a weird disconnect for me, smiley pure Timmeh face on muscle body. I can’t even look. WTF, Timmeh? Granted if I was like 20 years younger I’d be loving him most likely. How old is young Timmeh anyway? Young enough to be my kid? 21 or younger? I draw the “young enough to be my kid” line at 21. I figure 16 would’ve been old enough to have a kid, had I not been pure as driven snow (never even kissed at that point – NERD).

          • deez

I think Timmeh! is 20.Young enough to be my kid as well. That’s what’s weird about these AI crushes to me. It’s one thing to appreciate someone’s looks, but to stalk, tweet, and write stories about these guys is just so “blech”!

          • et

Oh, Lordy, he’s just a puppy. That definitely falls under “young enough to be my kid.” I feel guilty liking Cook as much as I do (and I sure as hell don’t stalk or write stories about him) and he’s, what, 28? Will be 28? I don’t even know. He’s not 20, I know that much. No wonder Timmeh has a baby face – he’s a baby!!!!

          • deez

A baby who needs to go the barber! I HATE that stupid hairstyle.

          • JaneRochester

The problem with Cook is that he’s so self-possessed, he comes across as much older. I have no problem keeping my Idol love circumspect (casual Kris and cool Casey are neighbors, sweet little Lee is my nephew) except for Cook. I struggle when he’s on the table.

          • et

LOL, JaneRochester, I’m in the same boat ;)

          • JaneRochester

            I probably could’ve chosen a better final image there…..

            or not.

    • ross

Tim-Tim sounded good, but his singing style is nil. He always reminds me of a kid who sings in the church choir, no matter what song it is.

  • deez

    Just a reminder:

Everyone may speak his/her mind and give differing opinions…but, anything that ranges into an uncomfortable personal territory will be deleted. (I’m not sure what TI’s exact rule for this is, but I’m gonna go with the “I’ll know it when I see it” definition)

    As you were. :)

    • muzikizmi

Deez, feel free to delete all of mine. It won’t hurt my feelings.

      • deez

        You’re fine.

        (check your email)

    • jukejoint

I hope it wasn’t me and my delusional post! (Is that too paranoid and overly sensitive? Am I delusional, too? Oh, noes!)

It kind of would’ve made sense in relation to the perceived insults about bad smelling fans and pretty boys not coming by for hookups, but doesn’t really make any sense all alone by itself and does sound more like a general indictment than I intended it to. Just talking about why what might seem like a slam might not be perceived as such by some of the fans. But if it came off differently, feel free to delete me if you want to.

      • deez

Not at all. Everybody say what they want. Please. I’d just like the thread to avoid attacking each other (not that you guys are doing that…just don’t wanna go down that road).

Disagreeing with, and questioning motives, etc…is fine, just don’t go all medieval on each other’s asses. :) .

        • Daf

Awww, damn. I guess I’ll go put away my claymore, war hammer and full body armour. I never get to have any fun on a Saturday afternoon :( .

          • deez

LOL. It’s a good thing my situation isn’t permanent. I think I’m making myself about as clear as mud! :)

You guys are currently FINE. Everything that needed to be deleted is already gone.

  • jukejoint

There’s a psychological term for that, for clinging to delusions even harder the bigger the gap between reality and the delusion. Anybody? Bueller? Anyway, it seems to fit here. I heard them talking about it on the radio the other day, about Birthers, I think, but it fits the Glamberts quite well, actually, with the hostility and extreme defensiveness to anyone who tries to point out the holes in the belief system, the acting out (dressing, behaving) in strange ways just in the area surrounding the delusion but perhaps maintaining a life outside where they do use logic or go on with their normal lives, persecution complex, emotional over-investment in all things relatd to the delusion, etc.

    • jukejoint

Ooops. This was supposed to be in response to Margie, all the way at the bottom of the page.

    • Blue Eyes

Delusions run rampant with the Idol fanbase. The biggest delusion is they think their Idol loves them. Your Idol loves your money – period. Are these women looking for some kind of self-worth or validation or is it poor self-esteem.

  • DeeDee

I’m a little confused by Adam’s tweet to be honest. Is he saying that it’s not good enough that the cute guys come to the show, he wants them to meet up with him afterwards? It can’t be about looking for sex because, let’s be honest, I’m sure he can get laid whenever he wants to (the same is true for Kris, wedding ring or no wedding ring). So I don’t get it. Maybe he’s just trying to be cute. And on another topic, I gotta say I’m getting a little squicked out by the talk at MJs of how Kris smells. Ugh.

    • muzikizmi

DeeDee, I think he is indeed dropping hints that he is looking for some groupie action. Why would that shock anyone? Straight male pop stars (not all of them) have been doing the same thing for decades.

      • DeeDee

I know muzik, that’s what I’m saying. Does he actually have to put that out there on Twitter to make it happen. If so I really feel sorry for him LOL!

        • muzikizmi

Well, you know what they say. It’s lonely at the top. Or is that supposed to read ‘being a top’? Sowwy, bad pun.

        • jukejoint

Maybe his cranky brother is keeping them away.

    • deez

I gotta say I’m getting a little squicked out by the talk at MJs of how Kris smells. Ugh.

I know. I find that somewhat strange as well. I thought it was some kind of inside joke (at least, I was hoping so) After about the 3rd comment, it was just too much.

      • jukejoint

I would add (for my own Squick Factor) the stuff about how he needs to dress in tank tops (Oh, lord, the ugliest, trashiest form of clothing! It’s called a wifebeater or a Guido T for a reason) or wear tighter pants and all the other icky stuff. You know, he dresses and smells and IS how he wants to be. It’s all just too creepy and s/mothery for me.

        • JaneRochester

Hear hear. I have always found what *isn’t* seen to be far sexier than what is. My favorite example is in “Gone With the Wind,” when Rhett carries Scarlett up the stairs, then the next shot is of her rolling around (alone) in bed the next morning. You don’t need an R-rated, fog-the-lenses scene to know exactly what just happened.

          • margie

That is creepy. Are they going up and smelling him?

        • margie

And like jukejoint said…no to wifebeaters..just trashy.

          • DeeDee

Oh good, I’m so glad I’m not the only one finding that creepy.

          • deez

            Nope!

Aren’t the tight tshirts enough? Wife beaters! …blah, he may as well grow a mullet and sport a big ‘ol wad of “Red Man”. Do not like the Southern redneck stereotype.

          • JaneRochester

Kris with a mullet…..ahh ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!! *snort*

          • deez

Ugghh. I was in Wal Mart (imagine that) yesterday and there was a family (mom and 2 small kids) in line at the checkout in front of me. One of the boys was 2 or 3 and seated in the cart, the other was probably five (?). He was wearing a striped tank top, short shorts and had a MULLET. (and let me tell you it was the mulletiest mullet that I’ve seen in some time) No one can tell me that he asked for that haircut. That kid has NO CHANCE.

          • JaneRochester

I didn’t know you lived in my neighborhood! How come I never see you?

          • deez

            LOL :)

          • ross

I didn’t think they let you into Walmart without a mullet. Or those guys’ shorts that go down to around the ankle, and some fake bling.

  • scoutfinch

“But Adam’s fans just coo (moo?) over him anyway.”

    Funny, et!

    • scoutfinch

Once again, I didn’t hit the “reply” button so that my comment ended up in the correct spot. Sorry!!! I think I should be grounded…..

  • et

Back in my younger, bar-going days, nothing awesome like this ever happened when I was around.

Sigh, me neither. And I was just out and about managing my brother three years ago, and nothing awesome happened. We thought we had a cool gig with a “legends of reggae” show and the dude from Bad Brains but… the dude from Bad Brains was wayyyyy mellow (some folks swear they saw him eating something suspiciously acid-like, who knows) and was just strumming and being groooooovy (don’t know if anyone here had a punkish/skater/hardcore phase but – I loved me some badass Bad Brains) and the “legends of reggae” were so stoned that they couldn’t even find their way onto stage without assistance. Woo-fricking-hoo!

  • comer

lol, I love how Adam continuously insults his predominantly older female fan base and gets away with it. Do they not care when he constantly hints at the fact that he wishes they didn’t make up the main part of his fan base? Guess not. He’s constantly begging for male attention, the poor thing. He probably thought one of the perks of being famous would be the increased selection of interested men, but it seems like the opposite has happened. His sparkle cows are scaring everyone away, including the “pretty boys”. You just know that every time Adam goes out for a signing, he’s hoping there’s at least on attractive male fan there to make up for all the horny cougars, and to his dismay, there are none. Can’t blame them; they would probably feel out of place standing with all the other middle aged female fans.

They might also be afraid Adam will rape them as Caspar said, lol. Tongue-diving, blow job simulations… who knows what Adam could do. It really is jarring to see how few gay fans an openly gay artist like Adam has. Something about him turns many of them off. My guess is his how effeminate he is and how he exacerbates that stereotype by constantly playing up the feminine side of him. His album cover really says it all. When you think of gay in relation to Adam, you think of that effeminate cover, and not all gay men are like that. So why would you want to support someone who you don’t feel accurately represents you? Also, most of the gay men probably aren’t attracted to that type themselves so that’s another dilemma there.

At the end of the Adam needs to make up his mind. Do you really want to pander to the glam-moms by making out with them in the audience and sniffing their panties, and alienate the other fans in the process? With the way things are going right now, I think that’s what Adam is doing, so he shouldn’t be so shocked when there are fewer and fewer “pretty boys” and younger girls showing up to meet him.

    • Daf

Clap. Clap. Clap. Awesome comment, Comer, and I agree 100% with everything you said. I think adam shouldn’t have ditched that one twink he had when he “became famous”. At least he would have had someone to go home to at the end of the day instead of getting wasted and tweeting stupid stuff at 2 am wondering were all the gays and pretty boys are.

      • muzikizmi

I don’t think Adam is into the concept of monogamy. His idea of ‘rock and roll’ seems to buy into the anonymous sex and drugs stereotype.

        • Daf

Jean, oooops, my bad, Gene, why don’t you send Adam pictures of the gais and pretty bois?

          • margie

Reminds me of the time about month ago when he asked the same question during one of his twitter parties. Someone told him that they were watching Kris Allen. I have to admit I laughed. I feel for Adam though. Boy must be getting desperate at this point. 3 months of the same crowds of women.

    • Gene

Wow, you guys take his tweets way too seriously. Stalking former idol contestants and obsessing over all things Idol, when you hate it, that’s just far sadder than being an fan. Sorry, but its the truth. Get lives already.

      • muzikizmi

Gene, you just summed up your activities here perfectly. You should definitely follow your advise. Don’t let the doorknob hit you on the way out.

        • Gene

I’m following my own advice. I don’t bother to analyze Kris’s tweets. I don’t even read them. I don’t spend my time spewing hatred towards a specific artist and their fans. It’s obvious that Kris fans like you spend their time bashing Adam and his fans because it makes themselves feel better. You guys need some serious therapy. Stop being so bitter and concentrate on your own guy and stop stalking Adam and his fans.

        • muzikizmi

Gene (jean) you are hilarious. Look at any post about Kris Allen on Vh-1, MTV, or any music related site and you will find all of your fellow Glamberts (and probably yourself) spewing hatred about Kris Allen. We stay here and talk amongst ourselves. It is a 180 degree difference. If you weren’t so Glamopic, you could see that for yourself.

          • muzikizmi

Gene (Jean) since you are here, could you explain why so many of the middle aged fat Glambert women, pretend to be straight men on the internet? It isn’t fooling anyone into thinking that Glambert has a sizeable following of straight males, so give it up.

          • Gene

WTF? I’ve seen many Kristards putting down other Idol contestants and their fans on websites or forums like Vote for the Worst, Idolforums, Rickey, EW and others. What is even worse is the fact that many of them make nasty bigoted remarks.

            When did I claim i’m a male? http://www.thinkbabynames.com/meaning/0/Gene
You seem to have paranoiarea and need serious therapy.

          • muzikizmi

Gene, I am not the one who is trolling on a site that isn’t Glambertcentric. It is you who comes here trying to convert the masses. How is that working for you?

And…thanks for confessing what we already knew.

          • Gene

“Gene, I am not the one who is trolling on a site that isn’t Glambertcentric. It is you who comes here trying to convert the masses. How is that working for you?”

TopIdol said this before; “This isn’t a Kris Allen fansite, not in the least”. So why do you act like it’s crime to say negative things about Kris or his fans? And you say that this site is not “Glambertcentric”, yet almost every topic on this site turns into Adam-centric. Most of comments here are about Adam’s tweets and no one is keen to discuss about new Idol judges or Kris’s show.

          • muzikizmi

Most of comments here are about Adam’s tweets and no one is keen to discuss about new Idol judges or Kris’s show.

Wow, I was right when I used the term ‘Glamopic’.

      • comer

LOL at Gene’s comments. I haven’t seen so much hypocrisy in a while. Thanks for the laugh.

      • et

Gene, I like nothing better than people who are on the *same blog* as the people they are telling to “get a life.” It’s vastly entertaining.

Most of comments here are about Adam’s tweets and no one is keen to discuss about new Idol judges or Kris’s show.

Um. Do you ever comment on anything other than defending poor Adam’s honor? Seriously? Most folks here comment all over the place. You seem to only swoop in to chide us when we’ve done Adam wrong.

    • Daf

Gene, sorry about the name mix up. I had forgotten that way back in the late teens and early 1920′s many mothers named their daughters Gene with a “G”. Bless your heart, dear.

      • Gene

LOL. It’s not even my real name. I use it only because it is the name of one of my favorite British bands. http://www.last.fm/music/Gene
Some of you really need to stop take things too seriously and get a lives.

I’m not a regular or anything, but I think it’s offensive to talk about Adam as a rapist. He kissed a young woman and a young guy, and both looked totally thrilled, before and after (the guy especially was basically grinning his head off). The idea that anyone would be worried that he couldn’t control himself sexually around them is silly, and it feels kind of like that homophobic stereotype of the dangerous gay predator, even if that’s not how it was intended.

Also, I think the point is that there were lots of pretty guys there, and Adam always seems to have lots of young guys/young gay guys and young girls, just that they didn’t stay after. idk, I’m a young girl or young woman or w/e you want to call it, and I thought it was funny. :) I wasn’t like offended or something that he would be more excited to see a male fan than to see me.

      • fakeplastictrees

and just, the idea that effeminate gay men are somehow inferior or automatically stereotypes seems wrong to me. I’m in school and some of my gay male friends are guys where you would never assume they were gay, and some are very clearly more “feminine.” It’s all cool and it’s all attractive to different types, just like different types of girls are attractive to straight guys.

        • et

and just, the idea that effeminate gay men are somehow inferior or automatically stereotypes seems wrong to me.

I’m not sure where you’re getting that, seriously. And I am not trying to pick a fight, I’m honestly curious.

          • JaneRochester

I wondered that too. I blows my mind, how much people get accused of saying that they never said, when it’s all right there in fookin’ black and white. Do people not read? They just scan and spew?

          • et

            They just scan and spew?

Haha, that might be the most perfect of all descriptions of the “fly in and post” set – ever. Eleventy and all that.

      • comer

Supposedly a lot of “pretty” guys were in audience and not one showed up to meet him. Wonder why that is. Maybe they were turned off by the panty-sniffing! hahaha

  • caspar

I hope TPTB don’t think they’re captivating the public with their judge/shell game. (Unless they’ve managed to really fool the media, and the lineup in January turns out to be completely different than what we’ve heard about already).

Nigel is back in charge. When he ruled the show, it was all about entertaining the audience, not about who won. Er, except for that Jordin chick that one year.

Can you imagine the uproar if David Cook tweeted after a show ” Where did all the pretty girls go?” etc. Adam sure does feel safe insulting his core fanbase, doesn’t he? Also, Adam, maybe those pretty boys in the audience were dragged along by their Glam-moms, and really didn’t want to risk being tongue-raped if they got too close to your desperate self.

    • et

LOL, caspar, I just posted that on the other page – I was trying to imagine the uproar if Cook tweeted that. But Adam’s fans just coo (moo?) over him anyway. They seem to not mind one bit if he insults them.

      • margie

I don’t think they are smart enough to get that he is insulting them. The Rawkgawd in their deluded minds wouldn’t insult them ever.

        • michelle

Haha, I know. Adam gave the finger to the crowd at his bridge show and people at AO are all hot and horny about it (insert confused smilie here) Well, to be fair, one poster was not feeling it but the rest were all excited.

What is he going to do next that they will squee over? Say he doesn’t like overweight women and then proceeded to grab a 300lb audience members breasts, laugh and say he’s just kidding? Funny/sad thing is, it’s not beyond him to do that. lol And the type of fans we’re talking about will forget all about the first part and focus on his grabbing her and how sexy it is that Adam knows how to appreciate a full figured woman. hahaha

Yeah. I wonder if Adam is going to have a complete break down sooner or later.

          • Blue Eyes

He gave the finger to the crowd and they squeed over that?? Do they know what the finger means? Wow, the Glamberts have officially lost it.

I was reading tonight at MJ’s and some of the posters were bashing this site. Funny!

          • et

I don’t know you can stomach the tour threads long enough to see the bashing. I peeked in there once and fled in horror. It’s just way too over the top for me. If that kind of talk was about *Cook* I’d flee in horror, and he’s my favorite, lol.

          • et

Ahhh, it’s 2 am, why the hell am I awake? I hate fricking insomnia. My kids will be up by 8 whether I’ve had sleep or not. Dammit.

          • Blue Eyes

LOL, I was bored last night and took a peek at Adam’s thread. I don’t usually do that. Wow, those people are so OTT, it’s nauseating! I can’t believe they still hang around MJ’s?? Why don’t they go to Madam’s fansites and squee and thud? They turned a great Idol blog into crap.

Hmm, what I find pathetic is someone going to Adam’s official website just to seek fan’s comments like that. Always amuses me how the anti-Adam’s spend so much time regarding all things Adam. They can’t keep away from him. Why don’t Kris fans go to Kris’s official fansite and talk about him? His forum must be like a ghost town now.

          • deez

To be fair, BOTH sides do plenty of that.

          • Blue Eyes

I don’t go to Adam’s fansites. Only been AO a few times. I go to MJ’s to check Idol news and went into Adam’s tour thread…it’s the same “thud, I love him crap”. Some of it is funny, but most of it is stupid and gives me a headache.

          • deez

LOL. A lot of people DO check out AO for the entertainment value. They aren’t Kris fans though, I can say that with 100% certainty, lol.

About MJ’s, the best thing to happen there was the separate concert threads. The 2 factions are MUCH more civil now than they were a few months ago (unless I’ve missed something this morning). Endless fawning about Adam and Tommy’s matching hairdos, undergarments, and Glamwhatnots,… or the equally drawn-out flailing over Kris’s scent can be ignored if you don’t want to see it. (Unless of course, that person is looking for interesting things to put in a post :) ) MJ’s found a pretty good way to keep the peace. But I do agree, if you wanna see OTT comments, NOBODY has to go to anybody else’s official site to do so.

deez, I totally agree that it was a great idea to separate out the concert posts at MJs – then if people want to squee over freckled lips (gah) or how Kris smells and if he should wear wife beaters (ugh) they then can do that in their own little hole. I try very hard to just stay out, though admit sometimes in the throes of boredom to peeking. I usually flee, quickly. In terror. Sometimes giggling. :)

SIGH, it just ain’t the same without my fav-or-ite Glambert tiger92. *Bows head in memory*

But we did get to enjoy (for a short while) Zebra29, lion93, and bear94.

(ocelot something or other too, I forget :) )

The problem with AI now is simple. David Cook broke Idol. There will never be another season as grate as 7!!!11!!!1 He is the best Idol ever and Idol has been aweful every since he was on it. He has the voice of an angle and he is hotter than hell to boot!!1!!!! There will never be another like him. He has the most beuatiful skin and he is soooooo expressive with his eyes!!! Thud. The following seasons have not measured up to season 7 and Simon, Paula, Kira and Ellen know it!!!!11!!!! Every since season 7 it has been SO OBVIOUS that Simon was bored and your fooling yourselfs if you think that David Cook didn’t ruin Idol. I can’t even watch it anymore because it is so lame. No one cares anymore because David Cook broke the mold. He even has a new album coming out and his first album went platinum. He broke all kinds of records by debutting 11 songs in the Billboard Top 100 all in the same week!!!1!!! He had a very successful tewer selling out over 140 shows. Everyone else should just give up now. They will never be able to top his sucess!!!!1!!!1!

The way it was explained to me (back in the day) was this: It’s what happens when tards get carried away with the “!” key. I love ARCHIE!!!!!!!!!111!!!!!!1111!!!!! Their finger can’t maintain constant pressure, so we are left with…ELEVENTY!!!!!!111!!!!!
