Idol Quickies: 9-2

2010 September 2

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Well, there really doesn’t seem to be much news of note, so I’m sticking with the tried and true today :) .Tonight in State College, PA marks the last of Kris Allen and KAB’s headliner shows (he has three more scheduled dates opening for Keith Urban) before taking a little more than a month off.  On October 15th, he hits the road again with Lifehouse. So, if you’re anywhere near the home of the Nittany Lions, this will be the last opportunity (at least for a little while) to catch his full set. Opener for Kris tonight will be Chris Nathan:

Article from tonight’s venue.

Article from PSU’s “The Collegian.”

In Glamnation Tour news, the audience has now become part of the (pre-show?)entertainment! Maybe balcony guy was auditioning? (I’m not sure how much drunk lady helped his chances, though)

In TI news, she has been chosen for a very important job at her camp. Recognizable talent never goes to waste at Burning Man!

Personnel Lead – Damon
Kitchen Pod Leader – Dream
Bar Pod Leader – Melinda
Entertainment Pod Leader – FiG

Thanks deez for fixing my post downthread. Sometimes my finger don’t work as fast as my brain.

    Adam, Adam, Adam.

“where did all their pretty boys go?” 8 minutes ago via Twitter for iPhone

    # adamlambert
Seriously… So many in the crowd tonight and not one of y’all stayed after so I could meet ya up close! Lol 6 minutes ago via Twitter for iPhone

    • muzikizmi

Does Adam not know that he is shattering the dreams of several thousand delusional girls with those tweets? He can’t afford to drive away the younger girls, and the older ones will never get the hint.

      • et

I am trying to imagine what it would be like if Cook tweeted, “Where did all the hot girls go?” lol. Kinda the same thing, you know? “Yeah, there are lots of people here I’m not interested in but where are the ones I want?!” I mean, I’m sure he’s *thinking* it — but… Heh.

  • jukejoint

And Kara (like Ellen before her) says SHE decided it was time to let Idol go:
    http://www.tvguide.com/News/Kara-DioGuardi-American-Idol-1022614.aspx

At least it’s official. Is that a glimmer of hope I feel for the future of the show?

Nah. Too little, too late. Never should’ve brought her on board or especially let her write the coronation song in the first place. Thanks for handicapping Kris Allen from the get-go, SFB.

  • nekola

Another video surfaced from the jam session at the bar. Andrew on lead vocals and of course, electric guitar. Kris on the keyboards!

    • nekola

OK, for some reason I can embed the video, so here is the link:

      • deez

I’m working on tomorrow’s post, I’ll probably put that in there!

  • snapcracklypop

Lots of….dancing. Okay, I’ll call it dancing. He looks like he was reeeeally feeling the Don’t Look Back In Anger song last night with Chris Nathan. In fact, Chris almost felt… Nevermind, you’d have to see it for yourself to know what I mean. hahaha

    • deez

That’s after a few beers, I guess? LOL. Who are the backup singers ?(house band?)

    • deez
      • margie

That is an awesome video! Damn Kris is getting good with the hip action. I approve..lol :)

    • scoutfinch

Are we still permitted to squee & flail? ‘Cause that video demands some squeeing & flailing, I gotta say….

      • DeeDee

Better do it now before TI returns.

        • et

          Don’t forget to… thud?

          • scoutfinch

            “Squee/flail/thud!”

  • Salleyanne

Hey deez, is this your first troll alert?

    • deez

Yes! I’m impressed we actually made it to Friday!!!

  • deez

    Ummmmm…wut?

Not sayin’ that Clay doesn’t do a nice job here…but this is just SO randomly weird. (and why does his character look eleven?)

  • jukejoint

They got a name for the winners in the world. I want a name when I lose. They call Alabama the Crimson Tide. They call me Deacon Blues.

That’s all I’ve got on SEC football. Seriously.

    • sj

LOL jukejoint. That’s more than what I got. Seriously. :)

    • On The Edge

Heh…I have a nice crimson t-shirt with those lyrics (well, the first and third lines, anyway ;-) ).

  • deez

Paranoid Android from State College, PA (video http://www.youtube.com/user/k21886#p/u/2/rRqtnUWsYSk)

    • deez

Everybody’s heard this before, but the interaction with the crowd is pretty cute:

    • et

Hmm. I had convinced myself I couldn’t afford tickets to see him here in DC with Lifehouse but… well, we’ll see. How long does he usually play when he opens for someone? I like Lifehouse well enough but would rather catch more than a handful of songs from Kris & Co.

      • http://princessleia04.livejournal.com SarahBeth

I think with BNL he was singing 8 songs and with maroon 5 it was 10. So maybe somewhere in that neighborhood?

I’m seeing Kris with Lifehouse at Foxwoods and in Boston – I can’t wait. :)

        (Big Lifehouse fan).

        • et

Hmm. I might have to go catch that. I’m late to the Lifehouse party but I like them and would like to see them live.

          • Pandora

I was thinking the same thing, et. Interested in a partner in crime for the show? You cann get my email from Queen Deez… I’m out of town this weekend so email is a better way to get in touch than here.

          • et

Ooh, maybe so, I am way past dragging people with me who may or may not be interested and my sister is a bit of a Glambert ;) . Deez, can you hook me up, blessed Queen?

          • deez

            It shall be done.

          • et

            Hail Queen Deez!

And if any of you other peeps are in the DC area and are going… well, lemme know. We could have a recap of epic awesomeness, you know.

          • DeeDee

I love Lifehouse (really good fit with Kris) and was thinking of going to Philly, but I read that the venue is not great. It’s the Electric Factory-anyone know anything about it?

        • muzikizmi

I Googled and Wiki’d The Electric Factory and it sounds pretty good. It is standing room only (3,000 peeps). Some live DVDs an CDs have been recorded there, so the accoustics must be good.
          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_Factory

          • Blue Eyes

Lifehouse toured with Daughtry and they are really good!

          • DeeDee

I read some reviews that said the sound wasn’t good. A musician friend of mine told me that the sound is dependent on who the artist has running the sound and not the venue itself. Also I don’t want to have to wait on line forever to get a good seat (I have to work that day).

    • snapcracklypop

Man, wish I was at this show. The performances from the Paranoid Android, Before We Come Undone, and Red Guitar videos I saw were so good. I’m actually pretty sad that it was the last headlining show, though I know it’s just for now that the the Summer tour ends. I hope he picks up some during the fall while he tours with Lifehouse. The best shows are the headlining ones, because it can take you to many places – almost like telling a story. Almost like album listening, plus there’s room for spontaneity and possible new songs/covers. sigh.

  • KaTIeLuvsAdAm

Adam I wrote a poem for you

“You and I are like,” said
    Slip turn slowly
    Harmony silence
    Shadow, no surprise
    Place the bottom.

    Message, Messenger beauty
    Universal Mind:
“You and I have the same thing.”

It is set within the current
    Harmony of all creation
    Intuitive knowledge
    The right balance …

    Darkness space and time,
    Formulas and equations
    Looks like it.
    Regardless of age, time, distance
    Is misleading.
    And eternal beauty.

“You and I are like,” said

    I LOVE YOU !!!

    • deez

Your monster reminds me of the Stanford mascot. You need to comment in the College football post :) .

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

      • et

Is that their mascot for real? And I thought our Frankie the Friar was bad at St. Francis. Well, it was. It was horrifying. But still.

        • deez

Yes! For Real! The first time I saw it, I could not stop laughing. It’s like a huge developmentally challenged Christmas tree.

        • et

That is absolutely hilarious. It has a very scary face…

    • OMGiLOVEtwilight

OMG I LOVE that!! Your really tallented, do you write pottery for a living? I sometimes write stories off Adam with his band members, epecially ones with Adam and Tommy and Montie. They are all so cute together and I like to picture them all thoghter in the hotel room after the get all swetty from the show. I’d like to smell Adam. I bet he smells good.

      • Burgundy LaRue

        Ooh, poetry contests!

With so much drama in Idol World
        It’s kinda hard being A-dam Lam-bert
        But I, somehow, some way
Keep comin’ up with fame hungry stunts
        like every single day
May I kick a little something for the herd (yeah)
And make a few ends as I breeze through (yeah)
Two in the mornin’ and the party’s still jumpin
        Because my momma ain’t home
I got bois in the living room gettin’ it on
And they ain’t leavin ’til six in the mornin’
        (six in the mornin’)
        So what you wanna do?
I got a pocket full of rubbers
and my bottom twinks do, too
So come to the concerts and buy the t-shirts
But (but what) we don’t love them cows, no!
So we gonna get wasted to this
Counting your money while you sparkle cows moo to this

        Rolling through Glam Nation
        Drunk tweeting
        Sniffing throw-away thongs
        Yeah!
I got to stay in the limelight
        I’ll do what it takes

        (c) 2010 BLR Publications with an assist from Snoop Doggy Dogg

        • et

OMG! I LOVE that! Do you write pottery too?

          (Grin)

      • jukejoint

POTTERY!!!! I am reminded of Jane Rochester’s entry in the Tard contest:

“Ode on an American Idol” (with massive apologies to John Keats)

        Thou overly-ravish’d groom of glamour,
Thou foster child of Freddie and Stardust,
Zodiacal chanteur, who canst thus express
A sparkling tale more gaily than your song:
What glitter-tinged aureole glows about thy head
Of fairies or fellows, or of both,
In L.A. or the dales of Knoxville, Tenn?
What man or gawd is this? That bovines love?
What batshit pursuit? What macaroni dreams?
What dancers and drums? What wild tweets?
The elephant is truth, truth elephant,–that is all
We know on earth, and all we need to know.

*No homophobia was intended in the making of this art.

Plus, of course, (she says modestly), I also contributed a haiku:

        TARD HAIKUS 4 U

        The best singer is
The one who I like the best
        The others are crap

        I don’t care who won
        Your Idol sucks anyway
        Winners are losers

        I love [Idol Name]
So much, so big, so deeply
That it will never, ever fit in five f^cking syllables so F^CK OFF, jellus h8ers, and leave
[Idol Name] alone from your jellus homephobic h8erade!!!! And he’s not fat, either!!!!!!

    • Blue Eyes

      Hilarious!!

    • smashemup

Hey KaTIeLuvsAdAm. With those crazy caps I thought you name was “cattle loves Adam” but that doesn’t make any sense does it?

Adam reads every word here? Who knew?

Dear Adam, I am officially not a fan, but have a nice day. Thanks for reading.

    • et

*My ears my ears stop yelling stop yelling*

      • deez

LOL!!!!! It was only a matter of time! Word must be getting around ;) .

        • et

Deez, are you the WASTE IN THE WORLD who Adam should never go near? *Giggle*

          • deez

I think so!! (but I doubt that was ever on his list of things to do! )

It would actually be cool if he commented here, I wonder what his monster would look like? I don’t think we have any that qualify as glittery…although plenty of them do look alien.

No plaid monsters either, Kris would have to make do with a bald one.

          • et

I wish some of these folks would pop in. I wish Trugman would pop in. ‘Cause he’s a nut.

          • et

You’re right, though, no plaid monsters? No glittery monsters? *Sigh*

I love my monster. Everyone should have monster avis available. When things veer hopelessly off course we can always bring it back by admiring the monsters.

          • deez

            Trugs is awesome!!

          • et

I follow Trugs on Twitter and that’s some entertaining stuff, lol. He’s great.

    • smashemup

Hey LUCIOUSADAMLIPS it’s strange but your monster even looks like Adam in a weird kind of way.

  • LUCIOUSADAMLIPS

        LMAO!

        • muzikizmi

A “marcing band” Yep. That’s a rockstar alright. Marching bands are the high point of rock stardom. LMAO!

    • Salleyanne

Apparently someone doesn’t know what a cap lock key is.

I DONT KNOW WHY YOUHATE ADAM SO MUCH HE HS THE BEST AND MOST ATTRACTIVE MAN IN THEWORLD I LOVE HIM SO IWANT TO SNIFF HIS PANTIES THAT WOMAN IS SO LUCKY TO HAVEHIMDO TJHAT ITS JUST AMAZING I LOVEYOU ADAM DONT LISTENTO THEISE HATERS THEYARE ALL STUPID MORONS

Oh by the way Lucoiusadam lips, as this is your opinion, so be it, but in my humble opinion, if he is “the most attractive” I would run as far away and I could from him. I’m sure I can find someone better. JMO

Calling someone who doesn’t think Adam is the be all to end all a “stupid moron” doesn’t help your cause any.

Boy do I feel better now.

      • Salleyanne

I also need an edit key. LOL

  • muzikizmi

Hmmm, it looks like Latin Jesus has been joining Kris’ workout routine. Nice triceps! And….Kris looks amazing in that photo, but he appears to be losing weight on tour. He didn’t have any to spare.

And…yes to the SEC post, Deez.

    • deez

Looking thru pics to post was very “entertaining”. Found some really great pics of Andrew and LJ, but have no reason to post them. TI (…and others :) ) would chastise me for excessive tarding!

    • margie

Don’t worry. Kris will fatten up when he gets home and some of his mama’s cooking. He is really getting thin.

  • deez

TI will surely have me banished when she returns….but during my brief reign, we shall have
    COLLEGE FOOTBALL POST!!!!

  • deez

Before I forget, In my quest of KAB photos to put in the post ( I like this photo, but wish that Andrew and Ryland were in view) , I came across this :) . I have no use for it other than to present it as a gift to Blacklisted:

    1. I used to Penn State and spent a year in State College, damn I wish I was back there now. It’d be really easy to run into the band down there. Not that I condone stalking, there’s just not that many places to hang out there and most of them are all on the same main drag.

    2. I wish he’d done this cover instead of the Radiohead song at my song. I like some Radiohead but I’m not a big fan of Paranoid Android.

    • snapcracklypop

I actually prefer Paranoid Android because it adds an extra element to his set because it shows another side of him, while Don’t Look Back On Anger is good, it’s just another song to me. Plus, ever since I heard him and the band do PA live – I was hooked. I would love him to do something ironic or some hit from the 80′s or another 90′s song and change it to make it his own version (as long as it works). I remember I liked how Gap sort of changed the vibe of Madonna’s Dress You Up in their first song-focused commercial. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cSYRGkjkhRs. I bet he’d make a fun version of it. Actually, I’d pee in my pants if they did Duran Duran’s “Come Undone” because I’d think he’d do a really great version of it. Not that I want him to do covers in his future albums, but hearing it live would be awesome.

      • deez

I like their PA too. It’s totally NOT what you’d expect. I love the harmonies, it’s pretty great.

        • sj

My sister and I went to the State College concert tonight and Paranoid Android was excellent. My sister is now a Kris Allen fan. Kris and the band were fantastic.

          • deez

I’m gonna post some videos later!!

(If you have any pics or videos…or recap?…feel free!!!)

          • sj

I posted some comments in the Idol quickies 8-31 thread about the crowd and a Chris Nathan heckler. I have no photos or vids. I am unambitious that way, especially with the glut of photos and videos that come out of every show.

I loved the version of Before We Come Undone they did. It was lovely and so much better than the album version, which I like. The guy sitting next to me loved it to (he was a huge Kris fan). But the version he sang last night had a slightly country flavor and the harmonies/backing vocals were textured and, like I said, lovely. Like I said, it was superior, in my opinion, to the album version, as are all of the live performance of the songs on his album.

He went into the crowd twice – for Written All Over My Face and Come Together. He was mobbed during CT and security had to “rescue” him, he had to stop singing at one point in the mob, but you could hear him laughing.

His banter was funny and charming. He has a great stage presence. The crowd loved him. During the guitar intro to Falling Slowly, Andrew (guitar player) did something funky with a pedal which made an obnoxious noise and Kris said “Andrew’s fired”. It was funny and he had to get the mood back. He is very very skilled and just keeps getting better.

I like his cd but his live performances are where it’s at. My sister, who was indifferent before the show, was very impressed. She said he should put out a live album and I agree, but there really is nothing like seeing/hearing him live.

          • deez

I didn’t even listen to BWCU, (not one of my album favs) I’ll give it a listen and put it up!

          • deez

I really like the way he changed the ending, but there’s still something about that song that seems awkward to me…maybe not the right word…can’t put my finger on it.

  • On The Edge

Lets put it this way…a lot of people didn’t vote for Obama but he’s still our President. I didn’t pick Nutt, but *sigh* he’s still OUR coach. Even if he is crazier than a sack of weasels…not Orgeron crazy, but he’s close.

And don’t act as if Petrino is some honorable guy who only wants to guide “student-athletes.” Or Saban for that matter (and I’m a Bama fan!). They’re ALL hired mercenaries whose jobs is is to win at all costs, and despite what the NCAA wants to pretend, “amateur” football is Big Business.

In the meantime I’m looking forward to LSU locking horns with the UNC Chess Club (they may be the only ones still eligible).

    • On The Edge

And this was supposed to be a reply to Margie and Deez. Shoot.

      • deez

UNC Chess Club (they may be the only ones still eligible).

        LOLOLOLOL!!!!!

You’re right about the mercenary aspect of football coaches. I single out Nutt because there seems to be a wider gap between what he portrays himself to be, and what he actually is.

At least Petrino and Saban aren’t hypocrites. ( I might throw Kiffin in there with Nutt even though he’s gone, is there any doubt that he’s a douchebag?)
(sorry to any Ole Miss fans….nothing personal, The Grove is lovely and Dexter McCluster was a cool guy!)

        • margie

Oh Butch Davis was the Coach Arkansas fans wanted since he lived in Springdale/Fayetteville area already. He was hired at UNC the year before Nutt was paid to leave. Good thinhg we didn’t. I feel for the Tar Heels. Geez what is up with the crooks from Arkansas!?!?! We are infecting everything ..lol

          • On The Edge

Geez what is up with the crooks from Arkansas!?!?! We are infecting everything ..lol

            Kezza Kolsch would agree. ;-)

        • On The Edge

Being a Cooktard anyway, nothing made me happier than when Dex got drafted by the Chiefs (along with Javier Arenas, Eric Berry and Kendrick Lewis…obviously KC’s draft strategy this year was “SEC”).

    • et

      *Sniff* My Tarheels!

  • Daf

I’d pay to go see Stripper Guy. Panty Sniffer not so much.

  • On The Edge

FUCK Idol, man…college football season starts today! WOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

    • deez

OOOOH….should I do an SEC post on Saturday????????? Would TI kill me?

Lots of good material! Tenn’s new coach, Masoli denied at Ole Miss, new QB at FL, Mark Ingram injury, Ryan Mallett, also why the hell are the pundits touting Auburn? (do not get)

      • margie

I am soooo stoked!! Go Cocks!!

Sorry…OTE have to laugh at ole Nutty boy. I am not a fan of his but that press conference was priceless :)

      • margie

“I am in the people helping business”. I almost snorted my soda on my monitor at that. Ole Nutt continues to never fail me.

        • deez

Nutt is in the Nutt helping business. He does not rank highly among my favorites.

      • On The Edge

To the task at hand…Deez if you do a football post Saturday you should probably make it an “all-conference” post. After all, the Big Ten/Eleven 12 announced their new divisions and some fans AIN’T happy.

        • deez

True! Splitting up OSU and Michigan???

We may just do a College Football Open Post !!! A lot of teams will be playing cupcakes, but it will still be fun!

      • Burgundy LaRue

I tend to forget that many of you live in SEC country. Yep, football is back. Thank goodness, because baseball isn’t my cuppa.

    • Legend

Geaux Tigers! (and of course….Geaux SAINTS! Two dat!)

      • On The Edge

Good to see a fellow member of the Who Dat Nation!

        Tigers? Ehhh….

        • deez

LOL, I wonder what surprises “The Hat” has in store for everyone this year??

I was enraged at the end of this game!

          • margie
