My First Official Post as Queen!

2010 August 28
by deez

OK, I have no idea what the hell I’m even doing, soooo…consider this OJT. (I suppose I should post some pics and quote some stuff to see how it works… )

This is my cat, Porky, who will be playing the part of Oskar this week:

She may not have Oskar’s swagger, but she is orange.

I don’t really think anything earth-shattering is happening in Idol-World today. (or perhaps I’m not paying attention, and should’ve done some prep work before opening myself to ridicule) If it were up to me, I would probably go on a never-ending rant about how the St Louis Cardinals’ offense has totally tanked after trading their awesome right-fielder, Ryan Ludwick, to the Padres. (Thanks for that, Mozeliak) But…you guys don’t wanna talk about baseball!! I will attempt a serious post tomorrow after MAD MEN, complete with photos of JOHN HAMM (this, of course, depends on whether or not the cat photo that I previously attempted to insert  actually shows up!)

In IDOL news, KRIS ALLEN opens for Maroon 5 tonight in Lexington, KY, and ADAM LAMBERT takes the Glamnation Tour to Raleigh, NC. If anyone still cares, the Season 9 Tour stops in Chicago tonight! All three are up for discussion!!! (Just try to keep things civil :) ) None of this:

Yeah, I realize this is the most boring post evah!!!!1111!!! (that only means I have to get better,  right? RIGHT?) OK … My fingers are crossed, I’m getting ready to click “Publish.”

Love the cat, she’s beautiful! Great first post Deez!

  • CayKat

How does such a gorgeous kitty end up with the name Porky? She looks like a perfect little lady! So proper with her tea cup and all :-)

    • deez

I may have to post another picture from a different angle. :) (all is not as it appears)
I also should get video of one of her post litter-box freak-outs. (Porky is somewhat mental)

  • magnacarta

You have an adorable kitty! Make sure she doesn’t fall off that table though ;)

  • blacklisted

So TI believes you can’t be corrupted? Mwahahaha

    • http://topidolblog.com TopIdol

      I’m not gone yet! ;)

      • blacklisted

        Drats!

  • FreeDavidCook

Deez I am officially squeeing over your lamp, teacup and kitty! You are one very swanky broad in my eyes!

  • deez

Ewwwwww. I go to Mj’s to look for signs of Late Night Sandwich, and find this:
    http://mjsbigblog.com/blake-lewis-joins-kristy-lee-cook-on-goin-country.htm
(Sorry. I can’t foul the place up by posting the actual video) I watched part of it, and was repelled by the all-encompassing douchebaggery. If you make it longer than 30 sec, you have my sympathy.

  • girl from mars

Squeeing for Porky!! She’s very classy with her fancy cup of tea.

  • carmine2008

I don’t really like cats, but yours is just adorable. :) Long live the Queen! (?) Hehehe.

    • Paulie

Don’t like cats either (allergic to ‘em) but I agree, Porky is just as adorable as Oskar. :)

      Hail Queen Deez!!11!

  • JaneRochester

I’m back from the Chicago Idols concert. Where should I post my observations upon the Windy City’s sartorial splendour? Does it matter? (Does anyone care?)

PS Hail Queen Deez! Even if she has terrible taste in baseball teams! =8o

    • deez

Here’s good!!! YAY!!! I was hoping to get some Concert recaps/thoughts/comments…ANYTHING!!

      • JaneRochester

I am pleased to report that Chicago combed her hair and dragged out something besides spandex from the closet, as she prepared to come to the Windy City stop on the S9 tour. I only saw one person who would have fit in to that scary Lambert line. Granted, there were large numbers of those fluorescent-yellow Vote for Lee tshirts, but I suppose that’s to be expected and the majority of them were on adolescents. (Yes, including boys. I was surprised too.)

My one moment of alarm came as I looked for my seat about 10 minutes before showtime. I found the row (#14 in folding chairs on the floor) but I couldn’t see a vacant seat. Great. Now I have to go find security and oust a squatter. But no. My seat is there. It’s just mostly taken up by a 3X on one side and a 24X on the other. So, I held my breath, shoved my way down the aisle, and squeezed into my seat. For the next 90 minutes, I had my space invaded in a very personal way, but on the bright side, felt slimmer than I have in YEARS. Intermission bonus: struck up a chat with 3X, who was as nice as could be, and 24X disappeared, never to return. I guess I was invading her space too.

The show was a lot of fun. I went to Milwaukee too, so it was nice to see the differences between then and now. To be honest, the performers were all pretty polished at the 2nd show, and seemed for the most part the same this time. The one exception was Lee. He was 1000 times better. He’s settled into a groove, and it suits him. Didi sounded great, I especially enjoyed her first song. Casey was mesmerizing, and I loved Big Mike this time, whereas in Milwaukee I’d just found him acceptable. LNS has made me a believer. I also enjoyed Siobhan a lot, something I couldn’t say after the first show.

My favorite pre-show sight of the evening was the group sitting on the floor next to the tall table where I set my coke while I ate a pretzel (that was dinner. Chicago traffic conspired to deprive me of the time needed for a proper meal). The group was three moms, and six kids ranging in age from about 7 to 11. The kids were at one end of their circle, and they had a program lying open on the floor in front of them. Lee’s face stared up at me. The moms at their end had two programs, open to two different pictures of Casey.

        • deez

LOL! Poor Casey! Sounds like a good time (maybe I need to go to an Idol show to feel as though I have my girlish figure back.) Thanks for the recap Jane! I need to go check for a new Late Night Sandwich!

        • ross

Why are there Vote For Lee T shirts? Didn’t he win yet?

    • songkat7

I went last night as well. I was on the second level in a very comfy seat, but it was a little challenging to take pictures. Especially of Casey, Crystal and Lee who would not.stop.moving their entire sets.

However, the show was really much better than I anticipated, and cemented what I’d ranted the entire season – GET THEM EAR MONITORS! The singing was really tops (maybe with the exception of Siobhan’s 2nd or 3 screams), and I really enjoyed it. I must say, my biggest surprise was Katie. I had no idea why Brian Hodges kept tweeting she was a rocker, but now I see. That girl should always sing rock, she did a great job. I told her so at the buses (yes, I did buses, sue me LOL), and she said she wasn’t allowed to sing what she wanted on the show, but that her album would be rock. (We also briefly met Mike and Tim, but buses were really for my friend’s teen sister who was at her first concert ever.)

Casey was my favorite – that man can shred and I loved his vast array of guitars (I’m in love with the red one he used in his final song, seriously). His vocals were spot-on as well, and I didn’t notice any excessive goat bleating at all. I’m not a huge Lee fan, but he did a great job as well (although he wasn’t outwardly as emotional as he had been during his hometown visit). He was just extremely grateful, and it was fun to see the United Center lose their minds over him. (Timmy gets honorable mention for the tween squeeling in the arena.)

How how does it feel to be the monarch of all you survey? :)

    • deez

      Uneasy lies the head….

      • ross

        LOL!

You need an orb. You have the scepter.

      • jukejoint

I especially like the angle of your crown. It makes you look slightly drunk. Or at least very happy to be Queen. Quite jaunty!

        • deez

I’m wearing it rakishly looped over a single horn.

(Or at least that was the intended effect… it doesn’t quite make over to the horn)

  • mtlfan

your cat is soo cute and seems to wonder what you’re up to now :)
nah, your first post is fine.
    Love your newly crowned monster

  • rehabilitard

OMG, this kitty is beautiful! Here, kitty kitty… :)

  • jukejoint

Not boring at all, Deez. And Porky is BEAUTIFUL!!!! Also not boring at all. And not really that porky.

(Totally off-topic: The Cards are the team of my early childhood, but after hearing that La Russa and Pujols went to that thing at the Lincoln Memorial… Well, La Russa and Pujols are deadtome. And that’s the end of my political talk, I promise.)

    • deez

Ehhh…I can’t pay any attention to politics with sports figures. La Russa…meh, but Pujols? I would just stick my fingers in my ears and go “lalalalalala” and focus on his possibility of winning the NL triple crown (as it seems that their chances of making the playoffs are slipping away).

As for “Porky”, she truly is. Trust me, that’s a My Space Angle! Her “smoker’s meow” sorta detracts from the cuteness though, lol.

      • smashemup

The newly acquired crown on your monster is too cute!

        • deez

I need all the trappings of authority I can get, LOL!

    • Lauren

@Juke, my friend’s dad went to the rally. Then, he tried to talk to me about it…My mom was like “That’s not really a good idea…” Heh.

    • JaneRochester

      Porky is purrrty.

  • http://princessleia04.livejournal.com SarahBeth

Aw, I love your kitteh, Deez!!

Great first post as mod-in-charge. :D

  • Pandora

    Orange kitties rule the world!

  • On The Edge

Aw, kitty! Good first post, Deez (and Porky’s a cutie)!

    • deez

All the best people have orange kittehs!!

      • Daf

I have an orange kitteh!!!!!!! ♥♥♥

        • et

Aw, I have a black and white cat. And she’s evil. Maybe that means I have a cold, black heart. Bwaa ha ha.

(Though I want my next kitteh to be a big orange kitteh that I can carry like a baby…

          Queen Deez! Hail!

      • ophelia64

Yep, I have an orange kitty too. Big ol’ fat boy named JJ, with eyes the same color as porky’s. Hey, I’m from the St. Louis area too; maybe they’re related. Cats are so slutty–it could be true. I agree, all the best people have orange kittehs.

        • ophelia64

Oh, and congrats on acquiring the crown, Deez. You’ll do great.

        • JaneRochester

My kittehs are burnt-orange. And very odd. Where does that put me in the pecking order?

      • Pandora

I have two orange kitties. Where does that put me in the pecking order?

    • songkat7

      Porky is adorable!

My feline brat is a black/gray striped Maine Coon, so she’s an outcast here. ;) But she does maintain an expression often of disdain, so hopefully that makes up for it.

  • Lauren

Thought I’d just pop in to say hi to Queen Deez! Your first post is a winner!
