Idol Quickies: August 30th

2010 August 30

Good News for everyone who wants to throw their hat in the AI judge’s ring! According to Nigel:

“All the seats are open,” Lythgoe told us at yesterday’s BAFTA/LA pre-Emmy Tea Party.

Then, in an interview with Sam Rubin and Jessica Holmes of KTLA, Uhm…Nevermind…

Lythgoe says that one seat on the panel has an occupant, and it’s Randy Jackson. Wait. Was that a confirmation? “I hope so,” he says.

But… what about Kara? and Steven Tyler? What the hell Nigel? The seats are all open? It seems like they’re starting to double up. Errrr…don’t you have a show to cast? I mean, like NOW??

According to sources close to the show, callbacks in front of the season 10 judging panel won’t happen till September at the earliest. -Michael Slezak EW.com

September, huh?

The Season 9 Idol Tour stopped in Crystal Bowersox’s hometown of Toledo, OH last night where she sang her original song “Holy Toledo”, and talked about helping a busker pick up some extra cash.

At the St. Louis stop of the “Idol” tour, Bowersox said, there was a street performer outside the venue who broke down in tears of joy after she sang along with him and helped earn him $1,000 in tips.

She’s good people :) .

Crystal also got some love from our awesome Timmeh, who apparently ripped open his shirt to reveal “I <3 Crystal” written on his chest! I’ve been scouring IDF for pecs pics this morning. (REALLY IDF? No pec pics? sheesh.) In keeping with this theme….

Kris Allen’s tour (as both headliner and opener) will continue throughout the fall with the addition of recent dates. Starting in mid-October, he will be opening for Lifehouse. Currently, Kris has one more date with Maroon5, one headlining show, and three more dates with Keith Urban. He also has great ideas.

Great app idea: GPS tracker for your dog. App name: “Where my dog at?”

Evening Edition……………………………………

Adam Lambert was interviewed today on NPR for a piece about Freddie Mercury.

“He was completely over the top in the best possible way,” says Lambert. “Music, most of the time, is about sexuality, whether you are straight, gay or in between. It’s about love and sex. That’s rock ‘n’ roll.”

Lambert, as an openly gay performer, says he owes a debt to Mercury’s flamboyance decades ago.

“There’s definitely something missing in today’s music scene,” he says. “We don’t have a lot of men on stage doing flamboyant or theatrical. We have a lot of female pop stars doing it, but where are the guys? Where’s the classic pop-rock showman?”

Pop music today lacks the presence of such 70′s icons as Mercury and David Bowie. Lambert definitely did his pre-Idol homework:

“It’s supersexy,” says American Idol star Adam Lambert. He spent hours upon hours listening to Queen, trying to figure out how Mercury did it. And when he auditioned for Idol, he sang Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody.”

I know this is not a free for all post and I swear I am not trying to take advantage of TI’s absence and deez is doing a terrific job so if it is too irrelevant she can delete it, but; do any of you watch Project Runway? Last episode was jaw dropping.

Let me try to connect this to Idol, may be Idol producers can learn a few things about creating drama in a reality show. I’m not saying they should do the same, it was over the top, crazy. I am saying it was the kind of thing that make people talk at the water fountain.

  • Paulie

Nice Kris Allen pic! Okay, that was an understatement.

Meanwhile, The Truth music video is now out on iTunes. Go get/gift it! Or ask someone to gift it to you. Hehe!

In other Idol news, saw on MJs that David Cook co-wrote a song with Kara for someone named Frankie Negron.

    • deez

Thanks Paulie…that news will be in today’s Quickies!!

    • smashemup

Song is called No Reply and it was a cowrite with Kara and John Fields and was written two years ago during a writing session for David’s first album after Idol. I am so glad a Kara co write did not make DC’s album. No Reply is available on iTunes now but Frankie put a teaser up on his site that you can listen to here. http://www.frankienegron.com/blog/2010/7/4/hear-a-clip-of-my-next-single-no-reply-coming-soon.html

      • deez

Thanks for the link, Smashemup! Adding that as well!

Because I can, “Squee” “Thud” “Flail” Nanner Nanner Booboo, TI
    Seriously though, cute pic.

  • scoutfinch

I agree that the pic is squee-worthy & maybe even flail-worthy. I’m not sure my monster can flail with these arms, though…..

    • scoutfinch

Ooops….this was supposed to go under the tard & squee comments!

    • deez

You could definitely “thud”, though :) .

    • barado

I’m still hoping for a Kris/Adam Levine photo before they part ways, – just to compare their relative heights of course.

      • Legend

and to put up on my bedroom wall (if my husband would only let me!)

        • Legend

Okay. After posting the above I realized how tardy it sounds and
would like to retract it or at the very least ask for forgiveness.

          • et

I don’t see how anyone could be mad at you, what with your multitude of eyes and all. And your pleasing heart-like shape.

  • muzikizmi

Deez, you rock! That Kris interview is just too darned cute. Is it ok if I squee, or would TI retro-ban me when she gets back? I’ll just sq***.

    • deez

NO RETROBANS!!!! So sayeth the Queen….also yea to ACRONYMS!!!!!!

      (no talking about Twilight though)

  • http://princessleia04.livejournal.com SarahBeth

I’m going to tard over KA right now.

    That picture is TOO adorable.

SO EXCITED to see him with Lifehouse (Boston AND Foxwoods and MAYBE NYC because I am clearly insane. But NYC will be decided last minute, well, that’s just how I roll)

    All Hail Queen Deez! *bows*

  • caspar

Cute pic of KA; there’s a Cook pic that’s very similar pose, I do like the ones whose eyes crinkle up when they grin big.

Crystal and the busker. Aww. This makes my heart hurt, to think about all those talented folks who just don’t have the looks or the luck to be able to make a living at their art. My parents took me to Chicago when I was very small, and the only thing I remember is the black man with no legs playing blues (acoustic,of course) guitar on the Golden Mile. Still gives me a twinge of sorrow and pity decades later.

  • snapcracklypop

Nice segue deez. Have a new radio interview up (pre-Lifehouse announcement) in which the interviewers asks about Idol sucking, contracts, Idol sucking, personal stuff, gang-raping groupies, Idol sexiness, touring/future, Idol bonding, and ends with Adam Lambert’s codpiece…wha?

    • snapcracklypop

      • MissMyEm

Interesting interview. I liked their reaction to Idol and Idol contracts and eh…the codpiece question…ridiculous, but funny.

    • mtlfan

yeah that was a ridic question. Can anyone picture him singing Man in the Mirror with a codpiece .. blah

  • jukejoint

Speaking of Kris Allen with Lifehouse… That concert isn’t listed at Ticketmaster yet or even on the Chicago Theatre website. I want to buy tickets, damn it!

    • ross

I already have my ticket for Kris/Lifehouse Boston. :)

Adam…I don’t know what to say. He demystifies sex by always talking about it and acting “sexy.” To me that has zero allure. He didn’t invent it. He just bugs me, I don’t know. *mutters to self*

      • snapcracklypop

Yays! That would make up for the three song thingamajig :) They’ve been doing around 10-ish songs for Maroon 5, so maybe Lifehouse it will be the same? For Barenaked Ladies, they only had time for 8-ish songs.

      • jukejoint

Rub it in, why doncha? No tickets on sale yet for Chicago, although the scalpers already have them (or so they claim). What’s wrong with this picture?

(Don’t mind me. I’m not really wallowing. I just like to kvetch.)

  • Pandora

I will start the tarding over that Kris Allen photo. Sorry, TI (even in absentia), but how cuter could anyone be?

    • deez

;) …heh, heh…TI’s now made it out of Reno. Queen Deez consents to moderate amounts of tarding!

      • CayKat

All hail queen Deez! I am not gonna lie- Kris is looking EXTRA hot in those pics. *end tarding*

    • MissMyEm

I’m going to stand on the tarding line while we can. Thanks Deez.

    • et

I don’t even generally tard over Kris but will acknowledge that this particular pic is tardworthy. Too, too cute.

      • Lucky

I could almost squee over that picture if I were a little younger. Almost.

    • mtlfan

      * group SQUEEE * lol

my favorite picture of his lately

      • JaneRochester

        Sweeeeet.
