Idol Quickies: July 01, 2010

2010 July 1

Happy July! Yes, yes. Summer is slipping away before your very eyes.

Tonight in Detroit, the much-awaited American Idol Tour begins. Like most people, you’ve likely been dreaming about seeing Didi Benami perform live! Tickets to any and every stop are available. In fact, they’re so available the American Idol website is sometimes offering deals where you can get seats for only $10 (they did this yesterday). Just think, for only $10, you can keep 19E in business and ensure your cousin Phil DeWheezy always has a healthy supply of paint. I think you should get a substantial discount on the price if you can name the 10 contestants who made the tour, because that’s really tough to do. MJ has a list of spoilers posted that will be updated throughout the day. She and Rickey will also be cellcasting this year’s shittier-than-usual shit show, which is really good for you if you’ve ever wanted to hear your cousin Phil DeWheezy sing Elton John’s classic Rocket Man. Personally, I’ll stick with these versions:

Everyone’s favorite lawyer-writer-photographer-chef-billionaire-entrepreneur-detective-lunatic Kerry Kolsch is still bringing the truth to the American people. Surprisingly in her latest work of extraordinary journalism, she blames Arkansas for nothing and instead focuses on Adam Lambert being an alpha male and how this induces chemical reactions in one’s hypothalamus or something like that.

Adam has the desirable alpha characteristics that subconsciously trigger an attraction in women that has overpowered conscious objections. When the appeal of Adam’s biophysical subconscious triggers collides with the appeal of his obvious conscious physical attributes it is no wonder Adam’s ardent female fans could care less if he is gay. Adam is hot, strutting, hip grinding, loaded with testosterone and wears makeup; the latter does not detract from the former.

We have yet to decipher all of the emotions triggered in the subconscious level of the human brain. It is not all sexual; there is a primitive primal level that evokes the tigress defending her young. Beware any reviewer that gives unwarranted criticism. This growing body of fiercely loving and protective fans is a force to be reckoned with.

No wonder Adam Lambert is going to Japan this fall. He wants to be far, far, far away from these women.

David Archuleta has released a new single. It’s called Got Love. Wait. I mean Something ‘Bout Love. I think its all about puppy dogs, unicorns, rainbows, more puppy dogs, duck-billed platapuses, et al. Actually, there might have been nothing about unicorns in it and, are you ready? Its kind of ELECTRONICA. And its kind of not terrible.

Lee DeWyze (that’s your cousin Phil DeWheezy’s stage name) says there will be bras flying through the air during the Idol tour. He thinks he’s talking about the girls’ tour bus. Little does he know…

Danny Noreiga…remember him? Still exhibiting sociopathic tendencies.

Since I want to continue laughing at Constantine Maroulis, let’s watch Justin Kim’s tribute video to Mr. Walking VD himself.

This has nothing to do with American Idol, but Elian Gonzalez is now 16 years old. He’s like, gone through puberty and resembles Wheelchair Jimmy Drake. I have no idea why this is blowing my mind right now. I feel so old.

You need to go Mad Men Yourself right away! They’ve added new props and clothes for the new season. Whoo hoo. Only 24 more days until the premiere. Until then, I will serenade my beloved Don Draper with my accordian music in Roma.

Spread the word. Do it.

Pic from Daniel Allen before tonight’s concert in StL.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

A picture in hotel b4 we had to head out. It was the SHAG-a-DELIC room. Our best Austin Powers pose.

Supposedly, a reviewer is there tonight who wasn’t so kind to Kris on tour. Some tweeters are saying he’s texting and tweeting and doesn’t appear to be paying attention. I don’t expect too much.

    • http://topidolblog.com TopIdol

What hotel is this? There is nothing of this quality near Six Flags in Eureka, MO that I know of.

I hope they got to eat Lion’s Choice. Should I Tweet that to them?

  • deez

For anybody that donated to, or wants to see HBD’s Heifer B’day card, here it is!

    • Paulie

I know I’ll sound a ta[r]d narcissistic, but yay I see my name there. :P ELEVENTY!

      ET Mills donated too. LOL.

PS: Welcome back blacklisted! Did you see the Andrew tarding in one of the threads? We missed your Cale love then.

      • blacklisted

        aw, Andrew.

I’ve been checking out the videos I missed of my future baby daddy. Such a beautiful, not as bald, hunk of man meat. *sigh*

    • Kate123

Haha is it weird to be excited over seeing your own name? (I already know the answer to this) Also, LOL at Ms. Bow Chicka Wow Wow.

  • blacklisted

    AI tour cancellations. How unexpected…NOT.

I only feel bad for the artists…oh what am I saying, I only feel bad for Crystal and Casey. I don’t give a shit about the others.

I bet AI regrets losing the one person who seems to have been able to pick out talent…Paula. I wonder if they’ll keep their Kara and Ellen mistake? Since idiots never learn they’ll probably get another no talent judge to take Simon’s place.

    • Blue Eyes

If they had any brains they would get rid of Kara and Ellen and bring back Paula. Kara and Ellen are totally useless.

    • deez

AAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! BLACKLISTED! Where the hell have you been??? I was beginning to think you’d been trampled by the herd or something!!!!

      • blacklisted

Nah, I could outrun those heifers.

Work, vacation, and family visitors kept me away from my favorite people on the internets! Just looking over the old posts I already regret missing Wickedly Dark’s Adam concert recap and subsequent trolling. Drats.

  • alicat10025

So, are we ready for the next uproar? Kris Allen said in a pre-concert interview that he is going to eb performing for the troops overseas soon. More details came out later in the evening that he will be going to either Iraq or Afghanistan for at least week in September (I guess after his touring is done). Wonder how Glambert nation and KK are going to skew this one?

    • deez

I read at Mjs that Cook did this last year. Does anyone remember any details about that?

      • jazz

Clearly, he’s just an opportunist who is taking advantage of the fact that our troops are overseas. Also, he did his pre-Idol charity work just so that when he eventually cheated & “won” AI, he could mention that charity work to make other contestants look bad.

        • ross

62.3% of all service men and women say they are not interested in free entertainment unless it is provided by artists who have sold more than 500,000 albums.

71% of all women serving in the military are taller than Kris Allen.

In Fiscal 2009, 49 out 0f 50 UN Forces troops fighting in Afghanistan said they preferred Adam Lambert to David Cook, except in months ending in “y”.

This post has been brought ot you by T4.

      • et

I am a terrible Cook fan, I just remember he went with his band and there are some videos floating around of what seemed to be an awesome trip, and I saw pics of him wearing his white beanie that looks like his grandma crocheted it for him (is that how you spell that?!). Heh.

        • On The Edge

It was early last year before he kicked off the “Declaration” tour. His guitarist Andy actually did a pretty cool video of the trip; unfortunately YouTube blocked the original song Skib used (“Plan B” by MuteMath) and put in FUCKING CREED instead so I won’t repost. To this day I wish I could find the elusive cover of that Tenacious D song they did (not the one at the girl’s 21st birthday, the one they did for the troops).

          I’m apparently a better/crazier fan (*neener-neener!*:P)…

          • sodagrape

On The Edge, I think this is the Iraq video with the original MuteMath song intact.

(Apologies to TI if I screw up the embedding!)

DAVID COOK – IRAQ 2009 from Andy Skib on Vimeo.

          • et

Sigh. Places Cookfan Club Card in claw and passes over to your tentacular arms. *Sob*

          • On The Edge

That’s the one, thanks for finding it! Yeah, it can get kinda boring, but JHC I look at the interior of Sadaam’s palace and all I can think is I really hope that if there is in fact a hell, then that fucker’s burning in it.

    • Lauren

      I can skew this one!

While I do believe that one should support our troops, IMO this shows that Kris supports murder. There are so many charitable acts he could be doing, so why is he promoting organizations that kill cows (Heifer) and kill other people (army)? Obviously Kris does not value the sanctity of life.

(So what is the Glamberts aren’t pacifist vegetarians! They will adapt!)

      • alicat10025

Lol – Lauren, I thought you were supposed to be one of the sane Adam Lambert fans out there!!

        • Lauren

          I was joking…mostly!

      • nerdgirl

These are milk cows, you don’t have to kill a cow to get the milk…

        • Lauren

          Fine!

Edited: I am concerned that Kris Allen is alienating his vegan fans by supporting an industry that mistreats its animals.

(Besides, I am being a Glambert troll, why the need for accuracy?)

  • w.dark

I just saw that Toronto has officially been cancelled. *tear*

I’m just surprised they haven’t called the whole thing off yet.

    • saskin

I’m surprised they haven’t canceled the show yet.

    • alicat10025

Buffalo has also been officially canceled.

      • deez

AI has started that slow circle around the bowl. UNF (Unmistakable noise of Flushing).
Why they keep up the pretense of a judge search is beyond me.

I think they just need to announce like 10 concerts at central locations across the country this summer, cut the kids a checks, and be done with it.

        • saskin

          Yep.

        • jazz

“Unmistakable noise of Flushing” — brilliant!

          • Blue Eyes

There’s definitely going to be more cancellations. Idol is not popular out west and this was one of crappiest seasons ever.

  • et

I gave a valiant effort and listened to some Droopy Dawg (erm, Lee) videos from the Idol tour and… I don’t get it. He sounds like he’s trying to dislodge something from his throat. Oh well. I guess I will officially say that I do not like. Heh.

Lee, with his narrow behind and 30″ inseam Frodo legs and general resemblance to Droopy Dog are in no way worthy of sexual objectification.

Haha, that cracked me up. I guess different strokes for different folks but I am perplexed at what on earth is attractive about him. He’s all stunted and has a giant head (and I like Cook so I don’t have issues with giant heads in general, just when they are stuck atop an assless munchkin body). Do not understand. I am missing the Likey-Lee gene.

  • barado

If I didn’t know who wrote the article, the characteristic misspelling of “does” as “dose” would have given KK away.

I dream sometimes that Kerry’s little campaign stirs up some lawsuit and Idol is forced to reveal statistics about the vote totals for season 8, because I think that would shut a lot of people up.

    • ross

I know, really. As I was reading the article, I kept thinking, Chik-fil-A watch parties. How many votes does she think that that actually brought in, anyhow? Seriously delusional. I’d love the vote count to be revealed, too.

“I am also an award winning expert on the care and breeding of poison dart frogs.”

You couldn’t make this shit up.

      • DeeDee

Ross, I didn’t know what you were talking about with the poison frog quote. I figured you just thought that would be a fitting occupation for Kerry. Then I looked at the article again and saw her profile!

        • et

Omigod. She seriously does say she’s an expert on poison dart frogs. Have you ever heard that old song… “They’re coming to take me away…”

          • et

She’s also a… salt dough artist.

        • ross

Just came across this from May 29th, ’09. Around a week after Kris won.

Anr the first comment is from…guess who?

          http://www.queerty.com/kris-allen-explains-why-he-won-people-like-me-more-20090529/

          • ross

Wait… I italicized the word “first.” What happened???

          • Salleyanne

KK doesn’t really have a life, does she.

      • cc

award winning expert on the care and breeding of poison dart frogs

I wonder what will be Kerry’s reaction once she hears about Kris’s upcoming trip overseas to sing for the troops. ;)

        • et

Head spinning and croaking out “Kris Allen” in scary devil voice?

          • cc

….while making salt doughs of Kurs Allon’s head. Before she smashes it with her bare hands.

          • et

Or perhaps making salt-dough-darts tipped in frog poison?

          • cc

            LMAO. :)

Kerry Kolsch: The cray-cray gift that keeps on giving since 2009

          • cc

Um…what’s wrong with format? Why are the words in italics? *scratches head*

          • CK Dexter Haven

LOL! You guys crack me up.

This woman really is cracked, though. The sad thing is that I actually remembered her name from seeing her comments even before I started reading about her here. Who has that kind of time on their hands? Perhaps she’s independently wealthy.

  • ross

A new article by Kerry Kolsch. “Kris Allen, the Chik-fil-A Idol, is at it again.”

    http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/5557390/kris_allen_the_chickfila_idol_is_at.html?cat=2

    • Lauren

I think it’s hilarious how she started at Kris Allen, then connected him to Chick-fil-a, then connected it Focus on the Family, and only then was able to rant about homophobia. I agree with her that Focus on the Family is homophobic, but she is ignoring the fact that they have no relation to Kris. *sigh*

      • ross

        Haha. Good observation, Lauren.

      • et

Of course they have relation to Kris, Lauren! He is CHIK-FIL-A Idol! That makes him King Homophobe. I mean, Kerry is a POISON FROG EXPERT! So therefore poison frogs : Chik-fil-A : Kris Allen?

        • et

Oh no, did I just make everything italic-y? I didn’t do it, mom, I swear.

    • AH

I know that KK is usually good for a few laughs but why do you guys keep giving her articles hits? It’s obviously what she wants. Maybe if the world ignores her crazy, she’ll eventually go away. Just a thought ;)

      • nerdgirl

I agree. Enough of this nutjob already. Maybe if nobody mentions her she will go away.

        • Salleyanne

          No such luck.

      • Lauren

As fun as KKrazy is, I gotta agree with you guys. Also, I heard that Associated Content pays it’s authors based on the number of page views/ comments. Maybe we should stop giving her hits?

        • ross

Sorry. That was the first time I ever gave her a hit. The Queerty article wasn’t hers so I guess that didn’t give her any hits.

I just found it funny that Kris won on May 20, and on May 29 she was already convinced there was a vast conspiracy.

I think the italics are my fault too but I just put one word in italics.

          • Salleyanne

At this point in time, I hope Chik-fil-A sues her sorry ass. She’s really a piece of work.

          • AH

Ross, my comment wasn’t directed towards you (I’m sorry if it came across that way), it was just more of a general statement. It’s easy to get wrapped up in the crazy antics of everyone’s favorite lawler extraordinaire but IMO, the sooner we pay her no attention, the sooner she goes away…hopefully! :)

        • http://topidolblog.com TopIdol

          Good idea :)

          • ross

No, you’re right AH. I never even heard of her until I came here, actually.

  • songkat7

A little late, but I hope everyone had a happy and safe Fourth!

  • margie

Happy 4th everyone!!! Going to go eat some BBQ, drink some beer and watch the fireworks!!

Everyone be safe but have fun!! :)

  • jazz

Happy Fourth, everyone! (Maybe this comment is relevant to this post, since TI mentioned Krazy Kerry “bringing the truth to the American people”??? Although, I’m sure our founding fathers could not have contemplated her sort when they came up with freedom of speech….. ha ha!)

  • ross

Mike Lynch tells Lee DeWyze he has an abnormally large head.

  • deez

Apparently all kinds of strange drama at Kris’s concert in Texas tonight (per concert thread @ MJs). People fighting over a water bottle, a rude front row crew, tinhatters tweeting horrible things to Kris, Adam and KATY !!! (idiots) There were 2 openers tonight, and a time constraint because of a fireworks show afterward. Kris had to cut his set short, because the 2nd opening act wouldn’t leave the stage. Afterwards at M&G, fans said he looked visibly agitated.

Too bad GRO wasn’t a permanent thing.

    • deez

Oh yeah…23 comments in the Idols Live Tour thread???? WTF?

    • vtu

It’s been a bizarre night all around. Heard on twitter there were shenanigans at Adam’s concert, too–pushy people, mob scene at the bus, and a rumor (unconfirmed twitter report) that Orianthi’s hair got caught in her band member’s bass, and someone from the crew had to come out on stage and get her untangled.

    • ross

Afterwards at M&G, fans said he looked visibly agitated.

This seems to be because he got mobbed by fans. It must be scary. I guess they were organized into lines after a while.

    • nerdgirl

Probably, people started celebrating too early. Usually, it’s weekday concerts where people are not drunk…

Speaking of celebration – Happy Birthday, America!

      • ross

Also this was supposed to be an outdoor concert and it was moved indoors. people expecting to go to an outdoor show have a different mentality.

      • ross

Just read on MJ’s it was teen girls who had gathered by the bus and were screaming. The person said they seemed “frantic.” Probably a little skeery.

        • ross

          “A crowd” of girls.

    • On The Edge

Was it a full moon last night? Holey moley…

And re: the Mad Men marathon…are they running two episodes a night straight on to the season 4 premiere? YES, I can finally get caught up!

      • jukejoint

It looks like only a few episodes from each season, not all of them. :-(

        http://movies.amctv.com/schedule-mobile/originals.php?tz=ET&category=Mad+Men&resize=m

I suppose you could ask for the discs from Netflix and do your own marathon. I have the discs and I watched the first three or four from season 1 but that’s as far as I’ve g0tten. They’re almost better after you’ve seen the end of season 3 because you notice a lot more details setting things up that you missed the first time.

        • deez

That’s very odd. I wonder why they would choose to air just a few episodes?
I guess I’m gonna have to look for those DVDs after all.

          • jukejoint

I don’t get it, either. This week, they’re doing five episodes from season 1 twice, for ten hours of programming. Why not bump it up to 13 and do the whole season?

          • deez

I found S1 and S3 stuck in a drawer…apparently I do not have S2??? What is wrong with me?

I’ve watched S1 Episodes1-3 so far today. :) I had forgotten so much of this:
Betty scolding Sally for having the plastic dry cleaner’s bag over her head, only because of the fact that she thought Sally had thrown the clothes from the bag in the floor; Don outside his office talking to Cooper, meanwhile you see a flash of fire in Don’s office because the Jr Execs are in there playing with the aerosol Right Guard; Sal saying, ” People living one way, while secretly thinking something else? Ridiculous!”

  • deez

MAD MEN marathon starts MONDAY on AMC!!!!!!!!

    Season 1:
    Mon., Jul. 5 at 8PM | 7 C

    Season 2:
    Mon., Jul. 12 at 8PM | 7 C

    Season 3:
    Mon., Jul. 19 at 8PM | 7 C

  • J

I found this news on twitter. I knew ticket sales were not so great but I didn’t realize it was this bad.

“Just hours after news broke that one of Katie Stevens’ home state Idols Live concerts has been rescheduled (Bridgeport, CT), Lee DeWyze announced on twitter that the Chicago tour date has been changed to August 28th.

Lee’s hometown concert was originally to take place on August 30th at the United Center.

These changes come as rumors swirl that some concerts (up to 7 or 8) may be all out canceled due to supposed low ticket sales. We’ll keep you updated with the confirmed info.”

  • Llamakhan

I can’t stand MJ’s, she created a thread just for Adam making #1 on Vh1. I have never seen that for any other Idol before. She says she isn’t the Glambert blog though. And isn’t Vh1 unlimite voting? It means nothing because the crazies just voted over and over! Ok, rant over.

    • Salleyanne

Llamakhan, for a long time MJ’s has been AO2. Does kind of piss ya off that he’s the only one that gets that kind of hype from her. She has lost all control over that blog so anymore I just laugh and know eventually she will have to make the Glamberts move on like every other idol fandom has. Guess it’s because S9 was so uneventful that they didn’t push S8 out like S7 was. Wouldn’t it be funny if S10 blew AL out of the water? I know, petty and inmature.

    • http://topidolblog.com TopIdol

She does it to KEEP THEM CONTAINED.

      • vtu

And I, for one, appreciate it. It’s been a much more pleasant place over there lately with most of the Glamberts corralled into the Adam posts.

        • vtu

(And it doesn’t hurt that Kris fans have been herded into Kris posts, either.)

          • margie

lol it is a lot more pleasant. I just stop laughing at “corralled”.

          • margie

            ^can’t stop

          • vtu

            ;)

      • Salleyanne

She sometimes tries but not always successfully.

      • et

Yeah, it has been much better there since the Glamberts got their own threads. I wandered into one of the tour threads and the crazy stuff they say sent me screaming back out but that’s what I get for wandering in there in the first place :) . Plus post-tiger92-MJs is much more awesome, hee.

        • vtu

LOL I did the same thing. Going into Adam posts seems like entering an alternate universe sometimes. I am loving the post-tiger MJs (though I spotted a new user name last week that was suspiciously like tiger92 and the comment made was similar to her, too, so she may be trying to work her way back in).

        • Llamakhan

Did MJ finally ban tiger92? That idiot got me put into moderation a couple times! Mj’s is much better since she made separate Adam threads, but it still pisses me off to see thread after thread for him for stupid things he does. I mean, they had a thread about his stupid-ass haircut! Really? Thats’s news?

          • Salleyanne

Have you all seen the highlights blog comments for tonight.
Seems a poster said something about MJ’s being dominated
by Glamberts and now they have turned it into the other
idols fault for not posting more. Their selective memory
is amazing. Seems like I remember (I was included in this)
that anytime another Idol fan posted anything that
remotely questioning his highness, we were in moderation
or out and out banned. Now they wonder why no one wants
to post there. Give me a break.

          • ross

I’m annoyed with Adam fans dominating the headlines thread. Previously (pre-Adam) I went to that thread to read comments on the headlines. For a year now, though, it’s like an Adam thread. I get especially annoyed when people treat it like an Adam fan site and write things like: “He’s at number 10!” Or, “He’s in England!!” Without even saying who they’re talking about. I find it pushy.

    • DeeDee

I’m not positive, but I believe she had a post when the Live Like We’re Dying video reached number 1. I seem to remember that.

      • vtu

Yeah, I think she did, too.

        • ross

Yeah, she did. But she congratulated Kris’s fans for their organized voting.

          • ross

I should add, she also congratulated Adam’s fans for the same thing, when his video was #1.

I remember the first time Kris made #1 the thread was full of arguing.

  • nerdgirl

Wow! Kerry is adding “biophysicist and neuro-endocrinologist” to her already impressive resume. Maybe she is onto something with the effect of Adam on Glamberts endocrine system. She should totally apply for NIH grant titled: “Effects of high frequency and high amplitude soundwaves on synchronization of estrus cycles in Bovis taurus”

    • ross

Is it kind of like when Kramer heard the voice of Mary Hart?

        Glambolepsia and Glam-PMS…

        • jazz

          Glambopause?

    • muzikizmi

Maybe it’s the high frequency sound waves that makes fat puddle around their mid sections? Is there a Glambert over 20 with a tiny waist? I don’t know. It would be sort of like finding the Sasquatch.

      • Lauren

Yes! I saw a 50+ woman in hot pants at Glam Nation. Her clothes were from the wrong decade and her face was scary but she had a great body. Like, I was totally jealous.

        • parsenip

I don’t know which is funnier – muzikizmi’s question or Lauren’s observation and editorial.

  • muzikizmi

Am I the only one seeing Glambert fans, sqeeing over Lee? I always thought that Lee was hand picked to take fans from Kris. It would be delicious irony, if yet another plot blew up in the faces of the 19 ‘masterminds’.

    • ross

is it sincere squeeing or “let’s try to build him up to spite Kris” squeeing?

      • mtlfan

loll.. i noticed too. The more success Kris will have, the more squeeing some of them will do about anyone but him … hahahaha

    • OvenMitt

What I don’t get is why anyone is squeeing over Lee in the first place. Because the Idol judges told them to? Like, you’ve never seen a mediocre schlub before? What low standards people have these days……

      • ross

People queeing over Lee is a total “wtf?” for me too.

        • ross

          “queeing.” Ha.

          • OvenMitt

Was that a Freuadian slip? Did you mean to type “queef”? Because people seem to be doing that , too. Queefing for mediocrity.

          • Lauren

            Thanks OvenMitt. *pukes*

      • muzikizmi

It has always amazed me, how many people believe whatever Simon Cowell told them. If he says Lee is great, then it must be true, right? After all, he was right about Carrie Underwood, and….and…and…uh.

        • Lauren

Well, I mean he was right once but 1/3 still isn’t a very good batting average. ;)

          • dixiegal88

You guys must have skipped over Rule #666 in the Glamworld Rulebook: That shall not allow anyone but Crust Alone to hold the title of “least selling album” Idol. Adam will always be the “true winner” 111!!!!!111 Even if it means tarding over new schluby winners and buying multiple copies of said CD’s. It is written and so it shall be done. Glamen.

        • Blue Eyes

It’s amazing how people forget to form their own opinions and follow a herd mentality.

          • ross

Was that a Freuadian slip? Did you mean to type “queef”? Because people seem to be doing that , too. Queefing for mediocrity.

I’m not saying this is related to your comment…but If I Had You is #1 on the VH1 countdown after being #10 last week.

I just looked at PF and “power voters” are being congratuated. I voted a lot, one or two times, for Kris/Live Like We’re Dying, on that countdown, and it made me feel a bit too much like that woman playing the slots in Kris’s twitvid. I can’t get that into it. Sorry, Kris.

        • Pandora

I seem to remember Simon Cowell saying that Paige Miles! Paige Miles! had the best voice of all the girls this season. That comment alone should make any and all comments he has ever made about music null and void.

    • magnacarta

No, I did notice that too. Maybe they just like soft-in-the-middle idols. Who knows? Although, now Lambert is not so soft-in-the-middle as thin like a stick. Soft in the face?

Lee is nothing like Kris. How can he steal Kris’s fans?

      • DeeDee

They’re going to have to do a lot of power voting, cd buying and online squeeing and/or queeing to make schlubby Lee a success. I don’t think they want to take the time away from Adam worship.

    • musicfan

I can’t figure out why anyone would squee over Lee. He’s not cute, doesn’t have a great personality, and if you listened to him on the show, can’t sing without autotune if his life depended on it. To each his or her own, I guess.

If the plan is to make him more successful than Kris, good luck to them with that. Between all the cds and multiple tickets they buy for Adam, I don’t know how they’d have any left to spend on Lee.

      • ross

I remember when there was a poll for “favorite idol contestant” on twitter, some Adam fans contacted some Kalan Porter fans (Canadian Idol winner, season 2) and had them voting for Adam in exchange for their voting for Kalan. I suppose they could do the same thing with Lee fans.

      • mtlfan

well, he’s NOT more successful than Kris at this point.
When the TT video will come out, I’ll throw some votes to it like i did for LLWD. I’m not a power voter but I like to join some fans to give our guy some support at times

        • ross

Voting on VH1 is so bogus. They ought to have a different system. I think it’s funny how some of the wackier Glamberts bitch about the AI vote when they’re frikkin’ experts at power voting for everything.

          • mtlfan

I know!! the only value is being talked about

    • cb

Please let it be the totally OTT BSC Adam fans switching to Lee. (Leaves glittery paint at the altar of the rawk gods.)

      • margie

I don’t get jumping up and down with excitement about something you are bragging about power voting. Who has the time to do this? It taints the accomplishment. How real/popular is it outside the overzealous fans?

        • ross

          It taints the accomplishment.

I know. Yet they don’t seem to care, do they? The end justifies the means.

          • vtu

I don’t know. Having the video be #1 on VH1 is good publicity for Adam, no matter how he got there. (And let’s face it, outside the Idol blogosphere, no one knows it’s the Glamberts who are solely responsible for this.)

I’d have a hard time taking anyone seriously who argued that this proves Adam is the best Idol ever, but this type of fan support (as opposed to excoriating concert reviewers who don’t like Adam) does keep him in the public eye in a way that can be good for the success of this song.

          • margie

Oh it’s great for Adam don’t get me wrong on that. I just don’t understand the whole who has time to power vote or desire to do so. I am lazy…ok… I can’t wait til football season and then you will see me “tard” all over the place..lol :)

          • vtu

Oh, I agree about the power voting. I think the most I ever voted for Kris on that was 3 or 4 times, and that was just because I was avoiding real work at the time, so voting gave me something else to do. :)

          • ross

I don’t know. Having the video be #1 on VH1 is good publicity for Adam, no matter how he got there. (And let’s face it, outside the Idol blogosphere, no one knows it’s the Glamberts who are solely responsible for this.)

Well, if they don’t, they’ll catch on sooner or later because the Galmberts are making themselves more well known all the time. Besides, I think people question things like videos for not-especially-popular songs by not-hugely-popular artists reaching #1 two weeks after getting on the countdown.

          • ross

            Glamberts.

  • Kathy

Glad you had a great time Lauren! In other Idol happenings….. would you just look at this claymate car?? I found it while wasting time on the people of Walmart site. Scary:

    http://www.peopleofwalmart.com/?page_id=9798&paged=270

    • jazz

Why…why…just WHY would someone do that? I clearly am not cut out to be a fantatical fan!

      • jazz

        (or a “fanatical” fan)

        • deez

          *facepalm*

          • Kathy

I just kept thinking that she has to get out of the car
in the parking lot KNOWING people will see her.

    • Lauren

      Thanks Kathy!

      That is a scary car…

    • musicfan

Seriously??? Well at least she gets out of driving anywhere when she goes out with family and friends. (Assuming she has any – I know, big assumption.) No way would anyone else want to be caught dead in that car.

  • Lauren

I’m back guys! GLAM NATION WAS FANTASTIC! Adam was gorgeous and his voice was incredible. Oh yeah and I met Allison. No big deal. ( I had a total panic attack. After taking a picture with her I shouted that she was beautiful and I loved her.) Recap in progress :)

    • deez

      Woo hoo!!!!!!

    • et

Aw, yay Lauren! Can’t wait to read your recap :)

    • marissa

Yay! I’m glad you had such a great time, Lauren! I seriously can’t wait to hear him live. Music is always better live, especially when it’s about the voice. Looking forward to your recap. :)

Allison is beautiful. She was always cute/pretty, but she’s turning out to be beautiful from the last few pictures I’ve seen. This is like the least original thought anyone has ever had, but she so deserves to be super successful, she’s amazing.

    • On The Edge

      You met Allison?!!1!!!!!?!?!?!?!eleventy11!!!!!!111!

I am officially a jealous bitch. Okay, yeah I met Kris so I’m sure some of y’all are also jealous bitches, but still…

      YOU MET ALLISON!!!!!1!111!

    • maturin

After taking a picture with her I shouted that she was beautiful and I loved her

      Awwwww

    • cb

Me too!!11!! I’m so glad you had a good time and got to meet Allison! And so many people say Adam is even more gorgeous in person. I can’t wait to read your review. Any pics of Adam for us? Or you and Allison if you give yourself a nice black box over your face? The GA concert I’m going to is in a couple more weeks. Please tell me there was no shoving.

    • Nich

Yay!! I’m so glad you had fun, I can’t wait for the recap!

    • Lauren

Thanks everyone! I’m probably going to put pics on my fb. If anyone wants to see them, I’ll work on exchanging emails so I can send you my pictures. Or maybe I could just put a block over me face! LOL!

@CB There was surprisingly little shoving. Like, my mom was totally fine. The Glamberts are intense and scary, but they make pretty respectful concert goers.

      • alicat10025

Lauren, you should totally include your mom’s take on the show as well – it would be interesting to hear her point of view compared/contrasted with yours :)

        • Lauren

I already sent my recap! But honestly, it was pretty much the same as mine. xD She enjoyed the show so much more than she expected too! We are both seeing it again in Richmond and she spent an hour on the phone telling her friends how talented Adam is. Haha!

      • deez

I could just put a block over me face! LOL!

HAha! You can’t LOL after using pirate-speak. It should read: “a block over me face! AAaaaaarrrr!”

        • Lauren

          No, that was idiot-speak! I can’t type!

    • Miz

Glad you had fun, Lauren, and got to meet Allison. I look forward to your report.

      • Lauren

Thanks! I sent it to TI, don’t know when she is going to post it.

        • Lauren
          • deez

Awww, you make a cute blockhead. Allison always makes that same face, lol! I couldn’t really see the ones of Adam (too far away) :( . Did you wait around any longer for Adam after talking to Liz? (was he maybe in separate car/bus or something?)

          • Lauren

            Thanks :)
I waited until 1 am…LOL! Maybe he was in a separate car/ bus but I really don’t know.

          • cb

Yay! Blockhead pictures! It looks like you were pretty close. Cool that your mom had fun too. OK, admit it, were you wearing anything sparkly?

          • Lauren

I was pretty close, like a third of the way back. It was a small venue though so everyone had a pretty good view.

Besides my earrings, none of my clothes sparkled. I wore a dark blue dress with white polka dots that I bought at H&M! Very not Glambert-ish.

    • muzikizmi

Lauren, I am glad you had a great time. I am also happy to hear that glammed up crocks were not part of your attire.

      • muzikizmi

While we are on the subject, why has croc become the official shoe supplier for the Glamberts? Is it because the older fans have trouble standing in line for hours on concrete sidewalks, or is it some super secret code message to the Glambert in chief?

      • Lauren

        Thanks Muzi :)

I have no idea why they like glammed up crocs. Normal crocs are bad enough IMO and I am certain that Adam wouldn’t recommend them.

        • JaneRochester

I saw one pair of crocs at Summerfest last night, and they were on a 14-year-old girl. Oh, and I saw a 60ish guy wearing a hot pink tshirt that said, “Siobhan.”

          • Lauren

I bet I saw more interesting people at my concert. ;) I saw a 55+ woman in hot pants and green cowboys boots as well as a rather large 70+ woman in a cafepress shirt that said “Theresa and Adam.” This was in a heart with an arrow through it.

        • marissa

I hope none of the people there in our age group were wearing crocs. Ugh.

  • RarelyC

Okay, I know I’m pathetic, but I am actually starting to feel sorry for the American Idol top 10 and their crappy tour (okay, I don’t feel sorry for Lee, but the others maybe). My daughter is slightly interested in going to the tour show to see Crystal; so I went online tonight to see about tickets and I could get tickets in the 3rd row for tomorrow’s concert in Milwaukee (the 3rd row!) and tickets in the 12th row for the Chicago concert later this summer. It can’t have been this way for last year’s tour, right? Last year, I went to two shows (one in Milwaukee and one in Chicago) and both seemed at capacity if not sold out. (And, just to be clear, I had never ever been to an American Idol concert before — so my only experience is last year’s.)

Oh, and thanks for posting the Shatner cover of Rocketman. It calls to mind his other great cover, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, which calls to mind Leonard Nimoy’s If I Had a Hammer, which calls to mind . . . .

    • caspar

Not only are seats available, but as of yesterday there was an online banner running on the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel’s website offering ‘Buy1, get 1 free’ for AI tour tickets.

    • songkat7

I just pulled up 10th row on the floor seats for Chicago. Where were those when I bought my tix a few months ago?

    • JaneRochester

Rarely, if you didn’t go last night and are still waffling, I can happily tell you to just buy a ticket and go. :)

I was there last night, and Casey was unbelievable. Worth the price of the ticket all by himself. Crystal was also wonderful, and I’ll spare y’all my love of Lee, but he was great too. I had a fun time, and I’ll probably go see them in Chicago.

      • Lauren

Awww I’m glad you had a good time Jane! Are you sending TI a recap? (Just don’t make it 3 pages long like mine lol)

  • Dickory Dock

Just read the set list from the Idols Live concert. Apparently Casey James is doing a song from The Black Keys — I Got Mine.

    THE BLACK FUCKING KEYS.

I knew there was a reason I thought that boy was all right.

    • et

Casey almost makes me want to buy some lawn seats to one of the shows. Almost…

      • Dickory Dock

I know. But then you have to sit through Katie Stevens and Andrew Garcia and watch Big Mike mug his way around the stage. It’s a tough call.

        • Pandora

          Please. Show up halfway through.

      • JaneRochester

Go. Go. Go. Casey is worth it. And sitting through the others isn’t bad, because it goes by so fast.

    • erinnthered

Shit. I….I may have to see this now.

Have you heard Brothers yet? Ten Cent Pistol is blowing my mind.

      • Dickory Dock

Brothers is such a great album. Ten Cent Pistol = so so awesome. This morning I was jamming to Black Mud while walking the dog (on repeat because I’m a giant dork, heh). I also dig the organ on The Only One.

      • auntieaimee

I’m kind of “meh” on it, to be honest. Maybe it needs to grow on me.

  • Verbally Dyslexic

It just hit me why I couldn’t warm up to Suzanne, the schoolteacher in Mad Men. She played Blahblah, Ted’s psycho girlfriend in How I Met Your Mother! I knew I was creeped out by her from somewhere.

  • et

I can sorta see driving around bouncing around to Archie’s new song, lol. It’s kinda catchy :)

  • erinnthered

Will Adam become big in Japan? Are the Spinal Tap jokes too soon? Oh, this could be funny watching the Glamberts go on like that’s a good thing. Hee!

I Mad Men’d myself, but they didn’t have my nose, so I’m not sure how I feel about it.

    • FreeDavidCook

They didn’t have my nose either. I have a tiny nose, none of them were even close.

      • jukejoint

They didn’t have my nose, my face shape or any clothes I liked. Add clothes, people! Add shoes! Add more hairstyles! Somebody should have long straight hair by 1964. Or a flip with bangs like That Girl.

    • muzikizmi

I can’t wait to see if those same 500 Glamberts who are following him around the country, will follow him around Asia, too. That could be really expensive. Maybe they are all loaded…and wealthy, too.

      • Lauren

One of the Glamberts I met told me this was her fifth concert and she was seeing 2 more, then she showed me a picture of a woman who had tickets to 17 shows.

        • muzikizmi

I read *R4*’s post at MJs, that she will be following Adam all over Asia. Aren’t we surprised?

          • ross

Oh, come on!!! Seriously??? I hope she’s rich. Otherwise she’s wasting her money. Even if she’s rich she’s wasting her money. That is sad. Wow. Kinda just speechless about that one.

          • Blue Eyes

These women are nothing but stalkers…he still will never allow you to get anywhere near him! Idiots!

          • ross

That’s got to cost thousands of dollars. Tens of thousands? Hotels and flights alone.

          • ross

            Thousands, anyhow.

  • FreeDavidCook

I was just coming here to see if you’d Mad Menned yourself yet. I see you went with the Betty Draper dress. I went with one of Joan’s with pearls and booze as my accessories.

    • deez

I’m holding a mixed drink by the pool!!! (wearing lovely plaid capri pants and pearls!!)

  • Trish

Uh, oh. Sounds Kerry K. has been reading too much Camille Paglia!

    • maturin

      Camille Paglia

Esoteric academia meets Idol award of the day!

  • JaneRochester

Poor Casey. I’m so sorry to hear he’s sick again. If I had any balls, I’d take him some chicken soup tomorrow night.

  • OvenMitt

First off, I’m sad to report that our Beloved Goat Boy is sick with a sinus infection. Damn it! He was supposed to be one of the non-sucky performers that would prove this season wasn’t as sucky as people said it was. Hopefully Crystal or Siobhan or maybe even Big Mike can carry that torch, cuz Droopy Dog DeWheeze sure ain’t gonna help perceptions.

Also, does the fact that Slezak will be appearing on a soap opera mean that he’s more popular than I realize, or that soap operas have gone further downhill than I realize? Either way: WTF?

    • jukejoint

Soap operas have gone wayyyyyyy downhill. Wayyyyyy. They have used Jason Castro, Constantine, and even that one guy with wavy hair and no talent who the top guy at ABC’s wife liked. I forgot his name, but he said he would wear leather pants if he kept going on AI and I think he didn’t get far enough for the leather pants. Matthew somebody.

So Slezak being on a soap is more for them than for him. I did spend about ten seconds wondering if he were married to Erika Slezak of One Life to Live (and David Sedaris love) fame. But then I realized that’s pretty much impossible or we would’ve heard about it before. I mean, if your mom is Erika Slezak, you would already be on soaps. She does have a son named Michael, though. So it’s weird. But it can’t be him.

I Mad Menned myself! I chose the black cocktail gown, as well, but not the gloves. I should’ve used the gloves.

      • caspar

I’m pretty sure M.Slezak is married to a guy named Steve.

Also, Goat Boy can still play his gee-tar, even if his sinuses are stopped up. He plays better than he sings, anyway.

        • http://topidolblog.com TopIdol

I’ve met Slezak’s husband. Like Slezak, he too, is AWESOME. And not just b/c he bought me a Captain & Diet. Really, really great guy.

        • MissMyEm

“Also, Goat Boy can still play his gee-tar, even if his sinuses are stopped up. He plays better than he sings, anyway.”
          True dat!

      • jukejoint

I’m sorry — I didn’t mean married and I have no idea why I wrote that. I meant “related.” As in, he could be her son. He’s not, but I did spend 30 seconds wondering if he were her son before my brain said Nahhhhhh…

      • carmine2008

Would that be Matt Metzger? If yes, he was actually pretty hot which is probably the biggest requirement to appear in a soap opera.

        • MissMyEm

I sat next to Matt at one of the Finales. He’s much better looking in person. He should be on a soap opera. And no tarding here…but I’ll look forward to seeing Jason Castro on a soap. That’s the only reason I’ll watch the show. I never liked soaps…day or night time ones. Besides..Jason’s a cutie.

    • nonna-muss

Did you hear what Slezak’s character’s name is?? It a mash-up of two Idols. His name will be Allen Cook. Bwahahahaha!

  • kt

I will def. leave a recap. i’ll be going to the south florida show. I will probaly be just as scared shitless as well as the contestants. lee lee LEE you need to close your fucking mouth! like really!! from what i heard from people ( well sane people) who have attended the shows the woman a.k.a frauen always do the dumbest shit! it is not 1972 and lee and casey (maybe didi for the lesbos and creepy older men) are not tom jones, barry white or whoever you lusted after when you were young.

  • caspar

TI- thanks for giving Archie’s song a little pat of approval. I know his old lady fans will probably hate it, but I think it’s a smart move to pop it up. (I said so many mean things about him during S7 I feel a need to make it up a lil now).

Also, that Slezak-on-a-soap thing is a joke, right? ALLEN COOK? Ha!

    • jazz

“Slezak-on-a-soap” — ha ha! “Allen Cook” — ha ha ha!

  • margie

Apparently Michael Slezak is going to be on a soap opera and his character’s name is Allen Cook. Is he leaving EW? I know he has been hinting of doing something else.

Someone in Krazy Kerry’s family needs to get her committed where she can get some help. Seriously.

    • jukejoint

Kris Lee Cook was already taken?

    • musicfan

According to Slezak’s tweets, he shot one episode (sounds like a one time appearance thing,) and one of the writers is a “BIG fan” of Cook’s. Presumably Kris as well, but he was replying to Cook when he said that, so only mentioned him. He did say the name was done as a mash-up of two of the winners’ names.

Why do I think the herd will be protesting and boycotting the show to show their disapproval for the writer’s not using someone else’s name?

      • ross

Haha!! That’s what I thought, too. (Maybe he can have a sidekick named Archie Lambert.)

      • Pandora

And insisting on how much higher the ratings would be if they named the character after their deity!

        • alicat10025

Of course they will, because there is nothing greater then their deity.

          • OvenMitt

It’s funny, in some cultures, people worship cows. In this culture, it’s the cows doing the worshipping- to a false Idol (in every sense of the word). Eerie.

      • jukejoint

He also said it was in LA, so not One Life to Live. I think it’s the last NY soap left.

Could be General Mobspital, All My Kids, Bold and Beautiful, Young and Restless or Days of Our Lives. Out of that bunch, I would guess B&B. It seems to fit Slezak the best.

Wow. There are only six soaps left? There used to be ten of them. Freaky deaky.

        • nerdgirl

If it’s Allen Cook played by Slezak, it must be Bald and Beautiful, right?

      • mtlfan

check that… they will exert some pressure somewhere. Cursed Alien can’t have something the deity doesn’t

    • MissMyEm

I’m surprised his name is Allen Cook. It would be more realistic if Slezak’s character was Allen Allison.

  • et

I seriously think that the nice fellows carrying the pretty white jackets should take Kerry away. Really.

    • jazz

I think the evil fellows carrying the flaming pitchforks and with the pointy tails and horns should carry her away!

      • Pandora

I think all of the monsters could take appropriate care of Kerry if they converged on her.

Why yes! Between the claws and the Joker mouths and jazz up there has *tusks* — definitely could send a monster army after her. Bwaah ha ha!

          • A Cook Fan

Is it bad that I just posted something because I couldn’t remember what my monster looks like?

          • A Cook Fan

I don’t like my monster very much. Bummer.

          • jukejoint

I think your monster is very attractive. He has jaunty horns, a bandit mask, jazz hands and chicken feet. And a very coy smile hiding there. What more could you ask for?

          • A Cook Fan

Thanks. I hadn’t even noticed the coy smile. I initially thought he didn’t have a mouth at all and that is SO not me! And I guess the bandit mask is kind of cool, but I’m not a fan of the chicken legs, though. I wonder if I can teach him to accessorize.

          • Lauren

I always feel so left out of these monster discussions…

          • erinnthered

Hey, you’ve got a dancing ninja monster. I like it!

Lauren, go kradamless for a day. I don’t even remember what your monster looks like.

I’m glad you had fun at the concert. Have you posted your photos yet?

Elian is making me feel old too. I cannot believe it has been that long since that happened.

    • Nich

Me too! I was in college when that happened.

It’s a holiday up here in Canada, so happy Canada Day (throws backbacon and Keiths beer gently around).
Thanks for the Rocket Men, Bill Shatner and Stewie, doing far, far more in-tune versions of Rocket Man than Phil whasisname will ever manage. I wish Bill S., in his Captain Kirk impression, would beam KKolsch up and lose her somewhere in the “Mootara” nebula. She is so utterly hopelessly loony…but what’s even loonier is the herd mooing in Moonison to her blats. The mind boggles.

    • rehabilitard

I am laughing at the herd comments, wiping my tears. Sparkle Cows, please, do not stop being insane it is so entertaining.

Quote: ” I have to agree with every thing you said. I am sorry but I am just not attracted to small, meek men. I want a big alpha male (and when I say big I mean in every way!) Adam fills my bill and a little bit more.

I want a hippopotamus for Christmas
      Only a hippopotamus will do
Don’t want a doll, no dinky Tinker Toy

They’re talking about dick again. Why does their world revolve around dick? And if that is really all they care about, why not just screen a bunch of Johnny Wad porn and stop going to concerts where the smoke and lasers and layers of clothing are keeping them away from their object of affection? Why does he need a band? Why does he need to sing? All he has to do is whip out the peen and just stand there, I guess.

Okay, so a) I’m with Elaine Benes. I don’t know how guys walk around with those things, and b) I find it really dehumanizing to focus on anybody’s body parts. How can they not realize they are treating their mostest favoritest bestest singer like a piece of meat, a walking dildo, a sex object? I would say the same thing if there were people out there drooling over Carrie Underwood’s boobs or Kelly Clarkson’s ass as if that’s all they had to offer. I guess by sexualizing his performances, this is what he invites. (Like Britney before him.) But it’s still so gross.

I sincerely hope you’re referrring to Lambert and not to Lee.

          • OvenMitt

It’s gotta be Lambert. Lee, with his narrow behind and 30″ inseam Frodo legs and general resemblance to Droopy Dog are in no way worthy of sexual objectification.

          • muzikizmi

Well said, OvenMitt, except that in no way does Droopy wear a 30″ inseam. I think 27 or 28 is more like it, and even then he probably has to have them hemmed. He is definitely oddly proportioned. His head and torso are average sized, but his legs look like they were grafted from a dwarf.

        • Blue Eyes

That’s exactly the reason why Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood and Chris Daughtry made it – people are drooling over their music, not their body parts. Then these stupid women wonder why Clay Aiken, Taylor Hicks and David Cook are not selling millions and millions of records – you are the reason. You turned them into jokes. Adam Lambert will have the same fate.

          • alicat10025

Maybe this is why Kris was so upset about the shirtless pictures thing? He wants people to talk about his music, not his body.

Thankfully, his fans are not nearly as insane about it as the Glamberts
