The first American Idol Season 9 Fan TATTOOS!

2010 June 27
by TopIdol

Lee DeWyze won more than the title of American Idol! Presenting…the first known Season 9 fan tattoo!

This young fan got lyrics from DeWyze’s original song, Predicament, tattooed on her left shoulder. But WAIT! We have one more, this time from a devoted fan of both Lee DeWyze and Adam Lambert. She opted for lyrics from another DeWeezy original, You’re my Flowerchild.

A bit boring, but hey, please keep ‘em coming, ladies. But as of right now, I’m unimpressed. These are rather tame. THIS is the gold standard for all Idol fantard tattoos. And THIS is the platinum standard for all Idol fantard tattoos.

(However, there does seem to be more of a “demand” for DeWyze’s pre-Idol recordings than any other contestant, even David Cook’s Analog Heart. Too bad his “first single” was a cover. As for his first release with RCA, he is working with Kara DioGuardi. NOOOOOO!!!)

Spread the word. Do it.

I guess the song lyrics are not that bad, but getting an Idol’s face tattooed on your body is insanity. When the Soul Patrol was popular, many people got Soul Patrol tats, which I’m sure they have since regreted and probably tried to get it removed.

The Adam eyes is going to give me nightmares tonight. Thanks Top Idol.

I have a tat on my ankle as a rememberence for a deceived family member, but it’s tastefully done with her name, flowers and a cross. I would never get a tat for an Idol or any entertainer.

  • michella

Wow, that Andy Skibb tattoo is absolutely hideous. It looks like a huge melanoma or something. I hope for for the fan’s sake that the photo is making it look that bad.

The Adam eyes on the back is very creepy and the Hitler one is hilarious. It warms my heart to see the Idol tattoo tradition going strong. Ever since Idoltard folded, I haven’t been that up to date on the insanity that Idol fans are known for. It’s also nice to know they’re still giving expensive gifts to folks that don’t need them. That never gets old.

S9 looks to be lame though because those Lee tattoos aren’t that bad. Can’t you Lee tards get a massive tattoo of his hangdog face on your back? What’s wrong with kids today, tsk, tsk.

    • http://topidolblog.com TopIdol

I have a feeling poor Casey will be on the receiving end for most of the insanity. So let’s keep an eye out of tattoos of his pretty head!

      • et

I am waiting impatiently for the first Jesus-haired Casey tattoo. And yeah, the ones of Lee are awfully mild… can we get one of his face? Even his no-ass droopy pants would be fun :)

        • http://topidolblog.com TopIdol

Tonight, I was shown some sicko Lee slash involving a stepfather buying his stepdaughter a male prostitute of her choice. The prostitute was your cousin Phil DeWeezy.

          • J

I’m wondering what type of life inspires a plot like that.

          • http://topidolblog.com TopIdol

No shit, right? It’s the first thing I wondered upon reading about 3 sentences.

        • et

          Ugh, that sounds horrifying.

  • JaneRochester

I think the forget-me-nots are pretty.

Re: Lee working with Kara…I take heart in the fact that Cookie apparently recorded one of her songs also. Alas, it did not make the album. Maybe it’ll be on the one he’s recording now!

    • J

Thankfully the song Kara wrote with Cook has been recorded by another artist. I think their name is Frankie Negron and the song will be released soon.

  • Miz

Why did my cursor immediately go to the ‘Report Abuse’ for that photo when I clicked on the ‘platinum standard’. I think my mouse is much more intuitive than I am.

True confessions. I made a tidy sum in my late teens and college years with body art. Hand painting flowers and other cutesy things on people. My greatest feat (no pun intended) was painting sandals on all my friend’s feet when we were not allowed into a restaurant because we were barefoot. We not only got in, but one of the waitresses asked me where I got my shoes. I told her they were designer originals.

With that said, there is no way in hell I’d get a permanent tattoo and especially not to commemorate someone from AI or any other current fad.

  • kt

This is my first time posting on anything idol (and kinda embarssed for even posting) but i will have to agree with msangeltripp that lee has alot of fans that are not batshit crazy frauen. I am a 19 year old college freshman and completely enamored by lee. If this makes me a fantard then so be it like i could give a shit. I’ve been watching american idol since the first season and never been into any of the contestants before and for sure would not be caught dead at an american idol concert! Sure i had people that i liked but never bought an album. I never supported their careers after. I never really even voted like i did this year because i could careless about the outcome. (ok and here i go into my tarding) Lee is different though there is something special about him. When he performs i feel his passion for the music and lyrics. For the first time i will actually be going to an idol concert with dignity and a tad bit of shame for being there. Now i won’t be wearing a t-shirt saying i heart lee, getting tattoos of his face, or lyrics from his pre-idol work scribed onto my body but i will be a fan. Hell i will probaly even buy his album if its any good.

    • songkat7

What you describe is you being a fan, not a tard IMO. :)

      • CayKat

Yeah, I agree. That isn’t tard speak kt – just good old fashioned, sane admiration of an artist.

By the way, Welcome to Top Idol!

    • nonna-muss

I agree, you sound like a fan. NOT a fanatic. I like Cook and go to his shows that are near my home. It’s not a secret. But I loathe the Cooktard’s that I have to deal with just to be a fan. Just don’t let them sway you kt. I was a full blown tard when AI7 was over. Kind people like Top, Deez and many others showed me the light.

    • et

kt, you sound like a fan, nothing wrong with that :) Welcome, hope you stick around!

  • songkat7

I have 2 tattoos and plan at least 4 more. I wanted them as a teen but didn’t do it until I was 44. I totally agree you think long before deciding. My first is a tribute to music, very tasteful. My second is for my nieces & nephew. My next ones will honor siblings, mother & father.

I seriously considered getting the Analog Heart design by David Cook, believing at the time it would be about an aspect of my personality. But the idea never gelled & I decided against it. I’m incredibly glad now that I didn’t get it. That truly wouldn’t have meant something for life as my others will.

    • songkat7

So the moral of my story is…no tard tattoos for me! I have enough inspiration by the people who are truly part of my life, not some imagined “connection” to a stranger.

  • caspar

As much as I rolled my eyes at Cook having an entire verse of ‘The Dash’ tatooed on his arm, at least I understand why it’s important enough to him to do that. I canNOT understand why someone would have something as meaningless as those 2 Lee verses permanently inked on them. The first one says ‘When I die, I will be surprised’ (or something? what DOES it mean?) and the second is as Free said earlier, a Hallmark sentiment’.

  • Verbally Dyslexic

Does it cost less when you write /draw the tattoo on yourself and have the artist just ink it? It looks like that with the first one. I guess when they get sick of DeWheeze, they can always say the tattoo is to remember the words of a dearly departed one.

Looking on the bright side, no sign of his face tattooed on anybody yet.

  • cb

I am not entering any fan tard tattoo contest TI sets up.
OK, maybe I’d do it in henna.

    • Verbally Dyslexic

I intend to tattoo the Glambert wardrobe malfunction tard art on my right buttcheek and the severed Kris Allen one on my left. I’d better not see anyone copy my idea!

      • JaneRochester

I will definitely be needed pictorial proof of that. Just warn me first. I’ll need a martini.

        • JaneRochester

Wow. This is what happens when you type with an icepack acebandaged to your wrist.

  • magnacarta

The flowers are pretty… they look like the ones painted on my grandma’s lamp. (not a dig, i love antiques)

I would never tattoo words on my own body. If they are meaningful to me, I will remember them. It’s as simple as that. Tattooing people’s faces on your body is also creepy. It reminds me of that episode of Criminal Minds. The killer had all these girls faces tattooed on him… all his victims…

    • Miz

I love Criminal Minds and spent last night watching the marathon on A&E. I thought I’d throw that out there.

      • Lauren

Is there going to be a Season 6? I got hooked this year and I’m finally on to Season 5!

        • magnacarta

          Yes, starting September 22 :D

          • Lauren

            OMG yay!

      • magnacarta

The Unsubs are always interesting and the BAU team is also intriguing. I can’t ask for a better procedural series really.

        • songkat7

I loved this show but it’s become way too intense for me. Which is sad because it really is a great show.

But after a few episodes where I had to catch my breath for hours after the episode, I found I can’t watch anymore. :(

        • Lauren

I know what you mean. It is pretty intense sometimes. I really like it though and I am pretty sure I will continue watching as long as they keep Reid.

    • OvenMitt

Sorta like how Megan Fox has Marilyn Monroe’s face tattooed on her forearm. I mean, WTF?

  • DeWyzefan

This is not just a tattoo to the people that have it.. It has meaning… Maybe you should ask them ehy they had those lyrics put on them…Its not because there such huge Lee fans its because the lyrics mean something to them.. I dont think that yall should be judging anybody for having tattoos that is the way some people express themselves.. Ilove the tattoos guys… :)

  • erinnthered

Hitler is totally Platinum. It has blue eyes. Did I send you my photo of it? You can see the eye color in that one.

There are some Taylor Hicks tattoos that might qualify. One woman got his autograph tattooed on her…something I can’t remember. I need to ask around.

I like the flowers on the second one. Must’ve hurt like hell.

    • songkat7

One of David Cook’s fans got his autograph tattooed on, and she didn’t allow the tat artist to transfer it onto tracing paper so he could clean her leg before he tattooed it on. She demanded he tattoo right over the ink from David’s marker. When the artist warned her about possible infection, her words (as she related online when she told her story) were, “I’ll take a shot if I need to, just do it!”

      Stupid.

  • Lauren

Well, this is a bad post for me because I don’t understand the point of tattoos in the first place. At some point you will regret it. My cousin may not believe me, but if she ever graduates college, having to cover up that flower thing that spans her entire back is going to be pretty annoying. Anyway, I guess the lyrics ones are okay as long you can hide them. The faces though….*shudder*

    • nerdgirl

Agree with Lauren on this one. What is the point of tatoos? I even regret having my ears pierces, I wish I hadn’t. Why can’t someone write these lyrics on a piece of paper and frame it. Or even embroidery. Or paint them on your car. But on your body? Oh, well.

      • Lauren

Hell, they can even paint them on their body. But why would you make it so permanent? I like the embroidery idea. Someone could hang it above their bed so they could see them every night before they went to sleep. :)

      • w.dark

I get that, for a lot of people, tattoos are something they will live to regret and should never get in the first place. Personally I’m a fan of them (I have 9 now — I think — and more planned.) It’s difficult to explain the why or why not to people who aren’t interested. It’s a personal choice.

BUT – it’s a choice that needs to be made intelligently. Not on a whim. Not based on a fleeting fascination. You need to know that you’ll want to live with the results. You need to know that it’s not something you’ll regret or tire of. And many people don’t – they get what’s cool or hip or what “speaks” to them today, but there’s no lasting connection.

AND – if it’s a choice you make, don’t skimp out on the work. Getting substandard ink will be a regret. Some of the artists who have worked on me cost $250 + per hour. It’s a lot, but it’s worth it in the end. I see people skimp and get a deal in the moment, only to have something hideous they’ll regret for a long time.

        Hitler just makes me shudder.

  • OvenMitt

If the body is supposedly a temple, than covering it with a bunch of low-grade tattoos basically turns it into an dilapidated warehouse.

  • J

I don’t mind the lyrics tattoos. If the words mean something to you then go for it. What I can’t understand are the faces and autograph tats. I can’t imagine that someone’s significant other would appreciate looking at the face of another man on their lover. One of the worst tats I’ve seen is of Andy Skib. I found it posted over on VFTW a while back but can’t seem to find it now. Aside from the fact that getting an Idol’s band member inked onto your body is a bit odd, it was really bad quality work. The whole thing looked so dark. It seemed like a bottle of black ink was spilled across her back.

    • J
      • cc

Yep, I agree that one of the hideous tard’s tattoo I’ve seen. LOL.

        As for the creepiest IMO….

        http://topidolblog.com/2009/08/yes-i-see-you-the-adam-lambert-eyes-tattoo/

        • deez

Are those the same ones from TI’s post or do 2 people have those??? (they do look a little different) I hope they’re the same ones! YUCK!!

          • cc

LOL. I think it’s the same. I just click the gold one eh…
            Sorry for double post.

          • deez

Good! LOL, I was hoping all the Minions (or some other subset) weren’t getting the same tat now!

      • nonna-muss

This was the first thing that came to my mind. That Skib tattoo is hideousness in all it’s glory. I also got a kick out of the Cooktard’s that got the emblem from his tour bus tattooed on themselves. Oh! and don’t forget the ones who got the number of shows they went to tattooed on themselves. Best part of that was that they included his last show and it was canceled, so their tattoos are wrong!

I like tattoos, but if I were to get one it would be maybe my kids’ names or something like that. Not for some singing contest winner.

    • et

I guess I get the lyric tattoo thing but faces? Faces are creepy, especially if they are faces of singers and such. That Andy one frightens me. I suspect it frightens Andy, too…

  • sodagrape

The font on the first one is pretty bad. It looks like it says Heoven.

  • http://8sourcandy.wordpress.com/ 8sourcandy

Lee’s lyrics reminds me of a pet grave marker sold in “Signals” catalog.

The tattoo of Adam looks like it was drawn on with a sharpie.

  • caspar

Those are the most banal cliche ridden lyrics ever.

I can hardly wait to see what the DeWeezy tards wear to the AI shows this summer. Drooping jeans, bedhead and a vacant stare?

    • FreeDavidCook

Some idiot was searching Free David Cook site using the search parameters ‘Lee Dewyse Tight Pants Big Penis’ Uggggggggggghhhh! So I’m guessing that the Idol tour is going to be crammed packed with old ladies lusting for the Leenis. Gawd, I’m going to have to go take a shower for typing out the tard name for his gonads.

      • JaneRochester

This old lady just wants to hear him sing. Sentiments like that make me want to hurl.

      • et

        Gah! Leenis! Puke!

    • JaneRochester

I’m wearing jeans that won’t embarrass my daughter, a blue Cubs shirt and my hair is too short for bedhead, so it’ll look just the same as it always does. My stare is never vacant. :)

  • msangeltripp

um, excuse me…im not a middle aged woman looking for attention. im 23 years old. Mine’s the top one. boring maybe to some, but extremely meaningful to me. its on my left shoulder and it definately wasnt on a whim. my my, people here are very opinionated. the bottom line is the power behind the lyrics…and the fact that something an artist did touched us so much, we wanted it forever.

    • http://topidolblog.com TopIdol

No one thought you were old! Trust me. :)

And if the lyrics mean something to you, then that’s what matters most. I typically post any Idol fan tattoos sent to me because they’re a curiosity of sorts.

    • deez

My apologies. However, the vast number of Idol-related tattoos, haircuts, wardrobe fiascos, etc….have been of the middle-aged frauen variety. So my general question (Why?)still remains, especially when you consider so many of these ladies move onto the next guy during the next season. It is, indeed, a curiosity.

    • erinnthered

      What TI said.

A lot of the people who get these don’t think much before they do. They’re trying to impress the Idol contestant, or gain fandom points, instead of thinking about the long term commitment of the tattoo.

If you did this because you love Lee Dewyze, then like many a music fan before you, you may end up regretting it. That has nothing to do with Idol, but music related tattoos in general. If you did it because those lyrics mean something to you, and it’s a message you wanted to share with yourself for the rest of your life? Then good on ya, and very cool.

      • http://topidolblog.com TopIdol

One exceptional rule someone told me once is that you must want a specific tattoo for a year before going through with it. I think this is an excellent gauge.

        • erinnthered

Yep. I’ve wanted the same tattoo for almost a decade, and I’m still hedging.

        • w.dark

Exactly my philosophy. Entertain the idea for a while, set your mind on it for at least a year. For my first one, I printed off the design and taped it to my leg for 2 weeks (new copy every day.) It may have seemed ridiculous, but if I was sick of it in 2 weeks time, I’d rather know before it was permanent.

        • songkat7

With my first one, I knew what I wanted but wasn’t sure of the design, so I kept waiting and changing my mind about exactly what I wanted. I looked online repeatedly, and then one day found one that jumped out at me. The design was amazing, and I knew that moment I had to have it. I made the appointment right away, but had to wait a month for the artist. I never wavered in my decision for that design, loved it the moment I got it, and two years later love it still.

  • deez

    Why…why…why????

I can understand a young person getting a tattoo on a whim, or a person who is into body art getting multiple tattoos and piercings, but these are middle-aged frauen trying to get attention. Ugh.

  • jukejoint

Wasn’t there somebody with his eye tattooed HUUUUUGE on her back? It was all blue and stuff.

Nothing really beats Daughtry doing it large on his own back, though. He’s his own tard.

    • http://topidolblog.com TopIdol

Oh yes. I need to find a photo of that one. OH YES! (Updated post)

Daughtry did his on head on his back? Huh?

      • jukejoint

Daughtry did his own name on his back. Really big.

        http://www.chrisdaughtry-fan.info/wp-content/uploads/2007/12/daughtry.jpg

          • http://topidolblog.com TopIdol

            NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

            WTF? Egad.

          • Llamakhan

OMG! I’m sure that person must regret the Clay tattoo now! Wow, what is wrong with these people? I don’t care about the lyrics one, although those lyrics are so lame, but to get someone’s face permanently on you? Why? Why?

          • et

Ack! The Clay one – oh boy.

        • Ittybittybear

Scuse me for one minute while I …um, scuse…..*LOLOLOLOLOL!* Okay. I’m good now.

          • Ittybittybear

Laughing at Daughtry. Question about Aiken. His name is in parenthesis in the bottm right. Is that a part of the tattoo? Probably a dumb questions…maybe…wouldn’t put it past anyone.

Tell me Daughtry tattoo will wash off…Please. Scuse. I feel it coming on again. *LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!* Whew!! Glad I don’t have any allergies at the same time. Those LOLs are a killer.

I do believe that to tattoo yous own name on your own back is one of the best cases of ego I’ve ever seen. *LOLOLOLOLOLOL!*

          • deez

Is that really Daughtry?? I thought he had a slight build. If so, then UUGGGHHH!!!!

          • deez

Oh about the (name) …no it was just added to the photo. I found this on a celebrity tattoo website. I guess they thought that one required a label, lol.

          • jukejoint
        • erinnthered

That will never cease to crack me up. He did it before he had the band too.

          • Lucky

My opinion of Daughtry has taken a nosedive after seeing that tattoo. It’s wasn’t very high to begin with so…..

I think tattoos are cool but not for me. Everytime I thought about getting one, I would envision myself at 65 with wrinkles and it would skeeve me out. But these idol tats are a bit silly, imo.

  • ross

THIS is the gold standard for all Idol fantard tattoos.

That’s so sad, because he’s already changed his hairstyle.

    • BettyBlue

I disagree. Imagine having a tattoo with the current hairstyle …now, that would be sad.

  • FreeDavidCook

I saw pics of the Flower Child one but thought it was a sentiment off a Hallmark Card or something equally schmaltzy. Those are actual lyrics? LMAO!

    • jukejoint

I thought it was from some movie about the shootout at the OK corral. Like you’re my little huckleberry? Doc Holliday? Somebody else?
