It’s time for more Something Pitchy!

2010 May 14

Check out this week’s Something Pitchy: The Last Picture Show. Check out some American Idol “experts” discuss this week’s elimination of Michael Lynche and what’s ahead for Casey James, Crystal Bowersox, and Lee DeWyze. (Psst…Kris Allen Tards. And Cooktards. And even BUCKY COVINGTON TARDS. There might be something in there for you, as well. Is this how I have to make you watch these things?)

It may run about 30 minutes, but I’ll forgive you if you don’t watch all of it. This week, Andy, Rickey and I were joined by Urlesque’s Stephen Lenz.

Something Pitchy is always a good time. And yes, I am wearing that t-shirt again.

Spread the word. Do it.

That was fun. I missed Jim but I liked the Urlesque guy though I didn’t agree with the overwhelming love for the Falling Slowly duet. Also the comment about how the heck Casey ended up in the final 3 can also include Lee. Looking back at the top 24 I am amazed that both of them are there.

I just don’t get the general love for the Lee/Crystal duet. I mean, Falling Slowly is a pretty enough song. (sacrilege warning!) I’m not even a huge fan of either the original or Crass Ellen’s version, but theirs was more akin to falling down a hill than falling in love. Sure, it’s great, if you like your songs tuneless and don’t think anyone should care about the lyrics.

It was kind of like Katie’s version of Let It Be, which was fine right up to the part where she hollers WHISPER WORDS OF WIIIISDOOOM.

So they were falling loudly, right?

      • old bat

And hitting rocks on the way down, like Jack and Jill.

    • naiya

I was just watching Lee’s “Lips of an Angel” video from his homecoming and I thought of your post. He sort of yells out I GOTTA WHISPER ‘CAUSE I CAN’T BE TOO LOUD! It made me giggle, so thanks for the laugh. (There was no hate intended in the posting of this message)

      • old bat

One is afraid to imagine what he thinks is loud. A jet plane taking off? I speak as someone who likes the volume down, down, down for my music, so obviously anyone else is free to enjoy him out of my earshot. :)

Yayyyy! I always love Something Pitchy! So much fun :)

I am actually excited to see Bucky get some credit. I actually own his cd. Plan on buying his new one too. I am going to see him in July. It will be the fifth time I’ve seem him live. Granted he is the only one who usually comes close enough to me to see but still. Am I your first Buckytard? lol I assure you though I have never puffy-painted anything.

The Bucky tards visited once before when I posted something nice about him. Bucky Covington seems like such a nice guy! I’ve always been happy he’s had one of the more successful careers of past contestants. A lot of people don’t realize that he’s done very well for himself.

      • Kathy

Yes, Bucky will never be the level of a Brad Paisley or a Keith Urban, but he could have longevity as one of those middle of the road country artists. He puts on a good live show, a little country but more southern rock.

      • Sandy

I always liked Bucky! He seems like such a nice guy. I didn’t vote for him his year but I did download a couple of his songs at some point. I should check out his CD.

    • Blue Eyes

Bucky played here at a local college. There was some hot college co-eds there and not a fat grannie in sight. Good for him! That’s the way to do it.

Thanks for pointing out the crappiness of Lee on that duet. I was getting a little tired of hearing about how “great” it was, cuz it wasn’t. I found myself disagreeing with Stephen quite a bit. I thought Casey’s Mrs Robinson was pretty darn good, and HBD’s Ford commercials are NOT painful! I think they come across exactly the way they were intended…regular guy talking about driving a regular guy car that does some pretty cool things.

    • Mithra

I agree. Meaning, Kris’s commercials are painful? Huh? That’s a pretty extreme reaction. What’s THAT all about? I also really liked Casey’s Mrs. Robinson…BUT, come on – the duet on Crust Onion’s song was like total sacreligiousness !!ELEVENTY!!!11!!!! And NOW That Lee ButtDeweasel is going to cover JESTRO’S Hallelujah???!!!???

      • Dickory Dock

        Crust Onion. *snort*

        I liked Mrs. Robinson too.

I cannot believe how many people like the Lee and Crystal duet. Do you like your tender love songs shouty, or what? Do not understand.

  • Kathy

Hey I always watch lol The bit for my Kristard part is just icing on the cake.

  • CayKat

I haven’t even watched it yet and I am excited! You and Stephen Lens! I miss him from last year. I only watch this show when you and/or Jim is on now cause I can’t stand the others… well, the host isn’t that bad but, I am not a fan of the other 2 ladies on the show.

    • CayKat

Sorry Stephen Lenz is actually the correct spelling.

I thought it was a Z but I think he had an S on his Twitter! (Will change right away)

Yeah, that was my first time doing it with him and I really had a good time.
