Told you the world was ending

2010 March 2
by TopIdol

The $7.99 American Idol albums sale has helped bump up sales for Kris Allen and Allison Iraheta (coupled with last week’s stellar results show performances and the charity release of Allen’s Let It Be), but is it also helping out Danny Gokey’s album (Released tomorrow…or in about 5 minutes)?

Danny Gokey’s debut album, My Best Days, is currently sitting at #4 on tonight’s iTunes charts. Bizarre. Will country music embrace the uber-Christian widower from Milwaukee who got into the Nashville vibe AFTER his third place finish?

Nah…I think its just more evidence the world is ending. And if the Rapture is coming, I guess Gokey won’t be enjoying the possible success of his debut album. No one ever said The Flying Spaghetti Monster was fair.

ETA: Danny Gokey is now #3 on the iTunes album chart. Yup. It’s gonna be a bloodbath.

Spread the word. Do it.

Fuck me. I’m thisclose to drunk buying Danny’s album. I hate myself for enjoying his performance and interview of tonight’s show.

    • margie

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! Step away from the alcohol!!

      • blacklisted

The fact that I even had a moment of consideration has taught me more about the dangers of alcohol than viewing dozens of abc afterschool specials.

    • Idoltard10

If you enjoyed that performance, you should never drink again. Remember SCREAM ON every time you think of buying something Gokey related.

      • blacklisted

But I don’t watch AI so I never saw Scream On!

        • Idoltard10

well believe you me, you should consider yourself blessed. In all seriousness, I almost got a headache from that performance.

        • Federer’s Nose

But you should have it for your alarm tone. It’s very useful, I’ve had it for months now and it never fails to wake me up

          • Idoltard10

LMAO please tell me that garbage is NOT the first thing you hear when you wake up! Makes for a very bad start to ANY day.

          • Federer’s Nose

Haha, it drives me nuts actually. But I’m someone who needs to take a nap and wake up the next hour, so whatever works will do. Even if I have to endure the dreaded Scream every day. TBH, it once woke up the entire household coz I left my phone at the living room.

    • http://topidolblog.com TopIdol

      You liked his post-performance interview?

      • blacklisted

Not only did he sound coked up but the whole, “the dude who wrote this ALSO had a dead wife” was so weird and inappropriate that it made me feel bad for him. Boy lacks interpersonal skills but deep down he’s probably a decent human being who lacks social awareness. It’s like how I used to feel bad for geeks in high school. I know, I know, there’s a sucker born every minute.

        • http://topidolblog.com TopIdol

You just don’t SMILE when you say stuff like that. FACEPALM.

          • blacklisted

His defense mechanisms are jacked up! I predict a mental breakdown in three years.

  • oddgirl

Well iTunes accounts for a very small percentage of total CD sales. Kris’s album was #1 on pop and #4 overall on iTunes when it was first released, and he still ended up selling just 80K total CDs that first week. So unless people are actually going to the Best Buys, Wal-Marts and Targets of the world to buy Danny’s album, I still wouln’t expect him to put up huge sales numbers this week. Although he does have the adavantage of being on Idol Thursday — and those appearances often give artists a huge (short-lived_ sales boost.

Meanwhile, keep an eye out for the singles downloads sales numbers that come out tomorrow. Adam’s single will definitely go gold (only needs 14K in sales) while if Kris can get 65K in sales, LLWD will go platinum!

    • soapbox0916

To be nit-picky, for a brief time on Tuesday of Kris’s debut, I remember Kris hitting #1 on the overall itunes albums charts (not just pop). It probably had something to do with how they counted the pre-orders, but I am still counting it. It is really sad that I remember this, but it was a great way to start out my first day of vacation (which I used my time to move). It is also misled me into thinking Kris would sell higher than he actually did though.

  • soapbox0916

Wait, us Kris tards need to take countermeasures fast.

Where is that close-up pic of Danny’s tatoo? That ought to scare off atleast a few casual fans off from buying Danny’s album. Now, we just need to place that pic where ever Danny’s music is being sold.

Forget voting for Kris in the polls, laughing at sparkecows, and doing charity work, we Kris tards need to stop what we are doing (which is likely nothing) and move far and wide across America.

(I am ofcourse kidding. I am home sick with the flu, stir-crazy, and damn near lost my mind. It might as well be the apocalypse the way my head hurts. So if this comment is not as funny as I think it is right now, I am pulling out the sick card.)

    • soapbox0916

Oh, and while we are moving far and wide across America, we need to make sure to stop at every Chick Fill-A. The sparklecow lawler is trying to become a millionaire and I sure she needs material for a sequel. Helping a sparklecow live her dreams surely counts as charity and we Kris tards are about charity.

Just make sure to avoid showing the pic of Danny’s tatoo while people are eating at Chick Fill-A. We don’t want any new potential Kris tard recruits losing thier stomachs over this.

  • Mary

If Danny has 100K + in sales, its definately gonna be a surprise. I agreed with Simon last year that he has ZERO star quality about him. And I always thought that TPTB were keeping him around for F2 as a pawn because they knew he wasn’t good and that Adam would easily win, until Kris ruined their plans.

  • muzikizmi

Gokey is back to #4 at itunes, and #11 at Amazon. His physical CD is only $8.98 at Amazon, so why isn’t it higher than #11?

Every time itunes puts Kris’ album on sale, it sells! What a novel concept. I wish other chains would follow suit.

  • Kathy

Crap I’m too busy this week for the apocalypse!

  • margie

I don’t care if he outsells Kris but the evil part of me hopes he outsells Adam. I just want to watch the cow meltdown and how they try to spin that one.

  • Mary

Hmmmm I’m not surprised…country is a huge market but it will suck if he sells more than Kris! But if he does I want him to sell more than Adam to see all the sparkle cow meltdowns!!

  • jukejoint

But we don’t know actual numbers yet, do we? This time of year, the #1 numbers aren’t nearly what they are around Christmas. I mean, who knows? The Gokester could sell 300K his first week and blast Kradison’s first-week sales to hell. Or he could debut at #5 on the overall chart (not just iTunes, which doesn’t sell that many albums, mostly singles) and sell less than Kris. I haven’t been paying attention to who the number ones are right now and how many albums they’ve sold week to week. Anybody know? LadyMadonna around?

    • Burgundy LaRue

Lady Antebellum has been strong sellers, as well as Sade.

Gokey hits right in that sweet spot of being modernly country, but with enough going for him to be pushed to HAC with the right song. I don’t know how that will translate to sales, but good on him for getting his share of success. Anyone who can put together a career for themselves after going through the Idol grinder is alright by me. Except ConstanStunk. Eff that dude.

      • Mithra

Oh hell no. I want Constantcrap to hang around in some form of “success”, just to laugh at his douchiness.

It’s interesting that 19 waited so long to sign Gokey. I agree that they were expecting/scripted a Gokey/Lambert finale. Perhaps it was the upset that made them rethink? Chris Sligh said something interesting on twitter before he vowed not to talk Idol anymore (THANKS BSC fans harassing a source of inside info…ugh) He said that it was clear to everyone on his season that it was going to be Jordin and Blake in the finale. I’ll try to find the tweet and see if he said any more.

  • Nich

I’m not surprised. I wish I was but I’m not. Then again my co-worker loved him on the show but had no clue he had an album coming out until I told her.

  • veritas

I cannot live with this shame.

  • sybiltrelawney

Well, that’s a laugh riot. A friend of mine predicted that Gokey would sell well, and I refused to believe her. Since I like both Adam and Kris far far better than Gokey, whom I found almost intolerable, I’m more stunned than amused. I’ll be on the lookout for the other three Signs of the Apocalyse, which must be imminent.

  • tinawina

For months, I have been anticipating the unleashing of piles ‘o crazy that would accompany Danny outdoing Kradison. If he manages to debut sky high there will be much wailing and gnashing of teeth, and I will be greatly amused by the resulting shenanigans.

I am curious to see how these online sales relate to hard copy sales. I’d think country fans are more likely than even pop fans to buy a hard copy of the CD.

To be serious though, online fanwars don’t translate to real life. Every glambert that I met at the AI tour were Gokey tards. Each and EVERY one of them loved Danny’s voice and his backstory. They stood up, cheered, sang along with him, etc. The fact that some ONLINE Glamberts are nuts doesn’t mean that RL one’s didn’t enjoy these two different contestants for similar (both power voices) and different reasons (Adam is a throwback for them, Gokey has dealt with major loss that people empathize with).

The online contingent may know ‘go Gokey’ but the garden variety fan from AI seemed to like him enough to vote him into 3rd place. In fact, I liked him on tour too. I had never watched him sing on AI b/c I never watched the show and I had no interest since I had heard negative things online but when I heard him live, I enjoyed his singing and body (yeah, shoot me).

Gokey was pimped and shown enough last year that people who got into him will likely buy the album. I’m glad for any contestant on AI who gets a piece of the pie. The show makes millions off of them and exploits them, thus the contestant should get something.

    • pattyluponey

As much as I snark on Gokey, I actually enjoyed him on tour too…and he’s much better looking in RL….(hangs head in shame)

    • soapbox0916

I think traditional country fans and some older fans are much more likely to buy physical CDs over itunes, but I don’t think that analogy holds true for modern county fans. I think modern county fans and pop fans are pretty much the same type of demograhic overall, which is why modern country does so well.

I just realized that Danny appearing on AI before his album is released is going to be a huge push for him. Danny will get some sales from those that bonded over his backstory on Idol and many people remember his name as casual AI viewers. I stil think that at this point, sales are due to Danny being on AI and have less to do with being modern country. Time will tell.

    • http://topidolblog.com TopIdol

The person who surprised me most on tour was Matt Giraud. I liked him 20x more than I ever did on the show.

And yes, oddly enough, I met several Gokey-Lambert fans, too.

      • soapbox0916

The only Gokey fans I know of in reality are Gokey-Lambert fans. Different from the sparkle cows, they tend to like whoever is hyped the most each year. Which means, I may not know any true Gokey fans. I don’t who Gokey appeals to.

I really don’t think I entered the land of Kristard until sometime during the AI tour, I voted for Kris, but I really was a Kradison fan during the season. Still, the vast majority of people I hang out with in reality are Kris fans, but this is probably due to the fact that I work in the social work field. People in the social work field caught on to that fact that Kris was the real deal when it came to humanitarian issues, I have heard this comment from several people, so I figure that I must naturally hang out with Kris’s crowd.

I would not mind for Gokey to outsell Kradison if he had a better album out. I have been checking out the previews because I thought I should give his album a fair shake, but the album seems weak and thrown together, and I am bothered that Gokey was not into county beforehand. However, if I would have liked the album, I would have pre-ordered it. I try to judge the albums independently.

I do think Matt has the potential to put out a really great album and I would be happy if a great album sold the best from Matt, if and only he put out a great album, and I was not really a Matt fan. In all honesty, I would buy a really good album from any of the Idol contestants, irregardless of how I felt about them on the show. Key word for me is that quality of the album should matter for something.

      • blacklisted

Matt Giraud had one of my favorite sets on the AI tour. I hope to see him perform live again.

        • margie

Matt is really talented. Is he signed yet?

        • pattyluponey

Matt’s set was amazing. I got to see him in Grand Rapids, which was pretty much a hometown show for him. He’s super talented. One of my friends worked with him in college. They used go to the local hotel and play around on the piano in the lobby at night. He said that Matt couldn’t read music, but all you had to do was sing a couple of bars of a song and he could play it…I’m not sure why he’s not signed yet, but he’s independently releasing an album soon. So, maybe he’s the next Elliott Yamin.

      • Idoltard10

I know quite a few Gokey-Lambert fans, but they aren’t ‘die hards.’ ie, they dont consider themselves active parts of numbered fan groups and what not. But it almost always seems that they lean more towards Lambert, and most picked Gokey as their number 2 like AI wanted them to, since the Lambert/Gokey finale was shoved down our throats for so long. These people, do not, however, tend to participate in fan wars and whatnot.

    • Mary

I loved Matt during AI and on tour when he sang Hard to Handle. I thought next to Kris, he was probably the most commercial out of all the guys. I hope he gets signed soon!

  • pattyluponey

From what I’ve noticed, Danny appealed to a lot of married women in their 20s and 30s (at least the ones I know in the South and Midwest). He’s safe, semi-attractive, and that whole dead young wife story is a heart-string puller for young wives…(I know one girl who said she would leave her husband for Danny. She was tall, skinny, beautiful, and 26…)
These are women who know how to use Itunes. They also are the people who listen to Carrie Underwood, Lady Antebellum, and Rascal Flatts. Danny fits right in there.
I knew it was a sign of the Apocalypse when Danny performed at the Opry…these little things just keep adding up… :(

    • jukejoint

See, I had the opposite feeling. The only Gokey fans I ran into were men. You know how you chat with colleagues and relatives who watch the show? I’ve got one hardcore Adam lover among my relatives (70-something aunt) and one (distantly related) 45-year-old guy who kept calling Danny his son-he-never-had. I have no idea why. They don’t look alike. My sister, who looved her some Jason Castro, didn’t really get into anybody last year, although I think she liked Allison a little.

And then I was stuck inside during a sporting event — people were waiting for the torrential rain to stop so the event could start again — and a TV was on that showed something about Idol, and I overheard a very spirited discussion. A dad said his family was split between Adam and Kris and then this other meat-and-potatoes looking guy was absolutely crazed for Danny and insisted he was going to win and was shocked anybody thought different.

I’m used to men being all, American Idol? Are you nuts? So it was kind of interesting to have two men at a sporting event yelling about whether Danny Gokey or Adam Lambert deserved to win.

    • Trish

Hey, one of my middle-aged gay dude friends LOVED Gokey. He didn’t care for Kris or Adam last season. He loved Brooke the year before. You just never know, but I will sit back and enjoy my schadenfreude moment if he outsells Lambert.

      • 8sourcandy

You may laugh now, but in two years when all you can hear on the radio is Gokey, Miley Cyrus and SuBo, you’ll be sorry. :)

  • BettyBlue

Good on Gokey. With all the things we’ve said about the glamberts, I think we’re all going to hell. See you all there (together with all the glamberts)!

  • DeeDee

It makes you wonder how Kris would have done in country if he had chosen to go that route like so many have suggested. I mean if Gokey can be a success…….

    • soapbox0916

I don’t think county has anything to do with it. Then again, county ain’t county anymore either. However, I do know of several casual watchers of American Idol (that lean toward country) that did not realize Kris had an album out yet because they were expecting to find a county album for Kris.

    • dresden

it would be a trip to have danny gokey be the top selling, or most commercially viable of the s8 contestants – like daughtry 2.0, lolol… i’m no gokey lover, but with the debacle and clusterfuck that last season has devolved into for the so called idol brand, all the money and promo spent to launch adam that hasn’t begun to see the kind of returns tptb must have anticipated, for go-go-gokey to slip in and possibly outsell them all, and become more successful? i would die from a burst gut, brought on by uncontrollable spasms of laughter. season 8 should be serialized and syndicated – the drama and the lulz trumps every soap opera and nighttime drama out there now – and it isn’t anywhere near over, ha!

      • Mithra

I so want Gokey to outsell the BIGGEST IDOL PLANT EVER – Adam Lambert, that I’m tempted to buy a copy or two. Hmmm….

        • Pandora

A copy or two won’t do it, unfortunately. I expect that if his first-week sales are unexpectedly high the Sparklers will give their credit cards another workout, with 10-15 more copies of FYE each.

      • saskin

I said felliniesque about a movie in an other thread then I read dresden’s comment about the season 8 drama which made me realize the main reason why I am so fascinated by this whole mess. It is absolutely felliniesque! Old, fat ladies wearing age inappropriate outfits talking about the dampness of their underwear, really bad cabaret music, the surreal/blurry/dizzying quality of everything… It is Fellini guys. In real life.

        • 8sourcandy

          Clever observation. Very clever. :)

    • http://topidolblog.com TopIdol

Kris is not country. In fact, I always wondered why they paired him with Keith Urban on the finale. A last ditch plea? Just because he’s from Arkansas and plays a guitar doesn’t mean he needs to do country.

      • Pandora

The Kris-Keith Urban duet was almost too much pretty to take all at once. And even though Keith Urban is country, that song is much more pop than country. I’m actually surprised it wasn’t a successful crossover song.

        • Idoltard10

@Pandora lots of modern ‘country’ is really pop. Look at Taylor Swift. She is definitely bubble gum Top 40 pop. But she’s won awards for country categories, when those songs aren’t really country at all.

      • vtu

I always assumed the Keith thing was because they expected Danny in the finale and they were setting him up to go country. Maybe that’s just my inner conspiracy theorist going nuts, though.

        • Pandora

I think they wanted and were expecting Danny in teh finale all along too. Remember in his duet with Lionel Richie he got to sing by himself first, before Richie joined him, the same as Adam with KISS. And they were the only two who got to sing by themselves.

          • saskin

I have no doubt in my mind that AI finale appearances are scheduled way ahead of Top 2.

It was very obvious from the line-up that they designed the whole thing around a Danny-Adam finale and to celebrate the birth of a new Rock God in Adam which blew up. Big time. No wonder they hate Allen.

          • Mithra

Saskin, not only is the finale preplanned (I mean really, it HAS to be, logic here…) but so are those Ford commercials. They have plotlines. Even though they are only shown once on TV, they are viewed online as well. Imagine if the AI contestant/cast members who could fit/play the parts in those things were voted off before the airing week…

        • kimberly

I disagree with the whole wanting Danny to win and performing with Keith Urban. Their vocals would never work on a duet. You saw how that went with Kris and Danny. He’d power over Keith Urban vocally in that attention-seeking-look-at-me manner he’s got going on. He fit much better with Lionel Richie, a total cheesefest. Another thing, Adam’s Top Three Night was a total sabotage. From a man that perfected lighting, staircases, et al, why would it go so terribly wrong on a crucial night? So I’m not so certain, he was such a sure thing either. I don’t care what agenda Simon or Paula might have had, and if they had one, it didn’t pan out for them.

Personally, I don’t think Danny knows who is as an artist. I always saw him as a lounge singer, nothing more. Hopefully Danny’s fans won’t be buying 20 CDs at a clip like the glamberts, but who knows. That can only sustain an artist for so long. Crazy!

On a sidenote: The catch-phrase this season is “believe in yourself”, a recurring theme Simon had going on with Kris. Self-believe, confidence, fire in the eyes … It was said to at least three of the guys: Alex Lambert, Aaron Kelly, and Lee Dewyze.

      • Burgundy LaRue

Part of me thinks that while they were always scheduled to be part of the show, they switched Urban and Richie’s dancing partners after Kris made it to the finale over Danny. Keith Urban is very current and too popular to waste on the third-place guy. So give the 1980s goldie-oldie Richie to Gokey and put all the pretty on the stage with Kris/Keith. But that’s just my $0.02.

      • Nich

Even though the Keith Urban duet turned out fine I was really annoyed that they chose him for Kris since, again, Kris isn’t country and I think he’d be the first to say that.

        • jukejoint

I think it was more of a case of Keith Urban wanting to do the finale and them sort of looking for somebody to pair him with. If Danny had been F2, he would’ve had Keith Urban. Since Kris was (unexpectedly) F2, they said, oh, he can go with Keith Urban. No thought at all IMO, cause they didn’t care about making Kris look good or celebrating him on the finale.

  • deez

I just can’t believe that there was a significant portion of the American public waiting on pins and needles to buy a Gokey album. I’ve listened to 3 (I think) of his songs, and they are so preachy and cliched. But… whatever, more Americans eat greasy fast-food burgers than anything else, so there ya’ go.

    • soapbox0916

Itunes album sales are a small percentage of album sales. I remember the itunes pass for Kris hit the top 10 atleast twice and Kris was on the pre-order charts for weeks. Kris even had the number 1 album sales on itunes for hot minute. Still, Kris wound up with the lowest debut week for a winner.

I am not convinced that these pre-orders for Danny mean anything unless the physical CD sales correspond to this. I think Danny is benefiting from the Idol album push and the reduced price. I am more mad thatus Kris and Allison fans had to pay full price for their CDs.

If Danny does somehow have a high debut, I blame it more on the fact that Danny was overly hyped on American Idol during his time, and casual viewers are more likely to remember his name over Kris and Allision. I hate how well hype works.

      • Mithra

Well, Heliotrope has already moved on to tarding over Lee Dyweeze (sp?), so she probably bought only 40 copies.

I am more mad thatus Kris and Allison fans had to pay full price for their CDs.

Don’t forget that convienent Amazon fire sale 19/RCA rigged up for their PLANT Adam Lambert – you know, where you could get his CD for $3.99 and even $1.99, so it would chart… ;)

        • blacklisted

I bought Adam’s album for .99 cents! It was a good deal since I’ve only listened to it twice.

          • Mithra

I listened to that crap for free online, and I want my money back!

          • Burgundy LaRue

I still can’t get over that mess. Both Adam and Rihanna had their albums discounted to $3.99 on Amazon, then here comes the $3.00 coupon. Susan Boyle and Lady Gaga didn’t have that kickback. Not that either needed it, but still.

I can see Rihanna’s mentor Jay-Z having some pull with Amazon to get this to happen for her. Besides, Rihanna is always good for a couple of radio hits from each album. She’ll make money for her label in some fashion. But RCA/19 dipping into the well for Adam like this seems rotten.

      • http://topidolblog.com TopIdol

Touring with Sugarland is probably what’s gonna make him. Seriously.

        • kimberly

I don’t think he’s with them the entire tour and I believe he opens for Julie Hough (?) DWTS girl on the tour. So Danny will be singing while people are finding their seats, using the facilities, getting refreshments. Good for the resume and some exposure, but not totally great. As far as I can tell his an opening act for an opening act.

          • kimberly

            he is! Suck at editing.

          • kimberly

He’ll be at Foxwoods in May with Sugarland. I should try to go for the lulz. I’m not a country fan, but I do love Sugarland.

    • Mary

Wait, I thought that the $3.99 promotion didn’t count for anything and that it really didn’t contribute to Adam’s sales? Have the Glamberts at MJ’s tricked me into believing that?
Can someone explain that whole promotion concept to me please, I never really got it. And why didn’t they do that for Kris!

      • blacklisted

Sorry you got suckered by those glamberts but those sales counted for Adam. It’s a way of getting people to buy the album and for amazon to get people to try out their new download method. The numbers do count in the final tally.

  • Verbally Dyslexic

I don’t know whether to laugh or to cry. I’d laugh at the possibility of Gokey doing better than Lambert, but I’d cry if I hear a country Gokey song on my radio.

    • Pandora

Even worse is the thought of country-Gokey crossing over to HAC a la Lady Antebellum. If he stays in the country world I can avoid him forever.

  • Idoltard10

People are actually buying that album? thats even scarier than Subo’s sales…oh well, to each his/her own. I guess to make it to 3rd place he has to have his brand of tards too. Oh, and for those that don’t remember, Glamberts and the Gokey Gang were at each other’s throats looonnngg before Glamberts vs Kris Krew. google #gokeyisadouche(twitter hashtag) for a few laughs.

    • Lauren

      Oh, the good old days…

      • Mithra

Meh, that’s recent history. The fun started back at the scaries when certain deviants (cough…) would poke at the newly emerging yet unnamed sparkle cows with user names like SEXAYGOKEY, Gokeyisgodly, Dannydelicious, etc :D A strategy hint for the upcoming tard contest ;)

    • blacklisted

But the #gokeyisadouche tag wasn’t the work of glamberts, it was the work of ONTD and ONTD_AI and those girls aren’t glamberts or only fans of Adam. Online fanwars are nuts but it doesn’t mean that most AI fans are like the cray crays that talk AI online (I’m counting us amongst the cray crays, even though we’re probably only one cray not two).

      • http://topidolblog.com TopIdol

Even poker pro Annie Duke Tweeted #gokeyisadouche. It caught on for a little while ;)

ah yes I remember now. I participated. ONTD reps came over to AO to ask for our help after the green body paint photo fiasco, and since most of us werent too thrilled with Gokey after that right godly video mess, we happily obliged(even though we generally dont frequent/get along with ONTD_AI). and also, yes…Glamberts vs Gokey Gang is MUCH older than #gokeyisadouche.

    I love this! hehe

Sleazak and Kristen Baldwin will have a conniption if Danny sells really well! The AI week has just become interesting.

mutliple quakes and gokey on the top 10 charts? i need to stock up my emergency kit, this shyt is going down! i think USA Today wrote an article on why country acts are more likely to succeed, something about fans being the least likely to pirate music and not having to share their market (whereas a pop fan buys rock and hiphop and r&b, a country fan might buy rock/pop but mainly country). i dont know if anyone of this is true, but it could explain why Danny decided to go country (smart on his part).

He’s also touring with Sugarland. He could end up outselling everyone else.

      Gulp.

Danny will have the last laugh, Glamberts will cry, Kristards will whine, those of us who never watched AI during S8 and only heard about the drama after the fact will sit back and snicker.

      • Idoltard10

that would be American Idol blasphemy if he outsells Kradison.

        • Lauren

          ITA Idoltard10.

      • Trish

I’ve been saying this for a while. And after all the sh*t that dude took last season, I’d kind of relish it. Not that I was a fan — I couldn’t stand him, but he basically was too clueless to realize what a douchebag he was being portrayed as and didn’t know to just STFU.

Adam, OTOH, played America like a violin, acting all sweet and respectful, but in the end, I think he’s the douchiest of all of the contestants last season, although he’s a thousand times more talented than Gokey.

    • Mary

I refuse to even THINK that Danny could outsell Kradison…ughhh “shudder”
Danny gets to tour with Sugarland? How the hell did he get that? Thats pretty awesome, even though I’m not even a country fan.

      • Idoltard10

i wanna know who pulled what strings to get him THAT deal. Adam playing Casinos and Danny touring with Sugarland? NOT FAIR! Makes NO sense whatsoever if you ask me.

        • http://topidolblog.com TopIdol

That’s the nature of country music. Nashville is an entirely different ballgame.

          • Idoltard10

All I can say is thank goodness he is as far away from hollywood as possible. He’d be a laughingstock there anyway with his preachiness and right godliness. Now to find a blown up pic of that tatt and paste it around the net to turn people away…

It would be funny is Gokey outsold Lambert. It could divert Sparkle Cows attention from Kris and his fans.

    • http://drlulzington.wordpress.com/ Doctor Lulzington

      Hmmm…that WOULD be funny!

    • Sherena

That would be hilarious, although honestly, I don’t really give a fuck about sales anymore. I would enjoy the outrage everywhere else and the amusement here for about five minutes and then get distracted in DWTS stanning or something, lol. But still, it would be funny.

    • Lauren

Gokey does not deserve to outsell Adam, but yes, the reaction would be priceless.

  • nerdgirl

I was hoping that if Gokey sells more albums that Adam, Adam and Gokey fans will start fighting and leave Kris alone. However, it appears that Gokey fans are dumping on Kris as well. Just to teach us Kristards humility and patience…

Sorry for my punctuation (or lack of thereof). I am foreign

Isn’t it funny how those who learned English as a second or third language have better grammar than me?

I guess we saw the update at the same time, lol. That’s just very odd. Odder yet was that he was in Woodbridge, VA today which is where I grew up, semi-affectionately called Hoodbridge. My moms would have been so excited, she loves her some Gokey.

  • et

Tick, tick, tick BOOM! Is it at #3 now? That’s where it was when I refreshed my iTunes store, but don’t know if that’s the most accurate way to do it. I was more excited to see Kris’ Let It Be at #10 on the singles.

Recently I’ve taken to saying the Pledge of Allegiance with “under Spaghetti” replacing “under God.” I used to just not say that clause, but the Flying Spaghetti Monster is better. He embraces me with his noodly appendage ♥

    • Lauren

What a great idea! I am going to do that!
