Hollywood stylists are obviously part of the vast homophobic conspiracy against Adam Lambert

2009 December 9
by TopIdol

The world is a very troubled place. Afghanistan. Widespread economic panic. Justin “The Moppet of Beelzebub” Bieber. Brutality in Nigeria. The Gaza Strip. The homophobic conspiracy against Adam Lambert.

Today, Radar Online reported that stylist Shane Starlet (clearly homophobic, as she is a stylist and fashion designer…working in the entertainment industry) voiced her concerns about Adam Lambert’s AMA performance backstage and was met with diva-like behavior by the “controversial” American Idol-runner up.

Designer Shane Starlet thought Adam’s AMA performance, which included simulated oral sex, was unacceptable- and she let him know it. In an exclusive interview with RadarOnline.com she revealed the details of their showdown, which included Adam telling her, “Shut up, b–ch!”

“He was rude, the whole night he was outrageously unacceptable because since American Idol, his career has become more about being defensive of his sexuality as opposed to his music,” Starlet told RadarOnline.com.

When Lambert walked by her backstage, Starlet voiced her opinion of his performance. Starlet told RadarOnline.com that she told Adam: “Be gay, fine! But stop trying to defend it all the time, Adam. What you pulled tonight was disgraceful.

“You could have been huge but now you’re no different than a Jerry Springer low-life.”

Lambert responded to the critique by yelling out, “Shut up, b—h!” After having a public spat with OUT Magazine, having his Good Morning America gig cancelled, and having his American Music Awards performance censored, Lambert has been busy defending his views and in-your-face antics.

Starlet, who was often on the American Idol set, is saddened by the change in Lambert.

“It’s a shame his fans don’t see this behavior and everyone appeases him and says nothing so I told him about it,” she told RadarOnline.com.”They do not see what we see when the cameras aren’t rolling and that’s unfortunate because he has tremendous talent and instead of focusing on creating beautiful music, he is more focused on creating controversy with regard to him being gay when it is truly not the issue he thinks it is.”

Clearly Starlet hates gay people, which is why she told Radar of the incident. And as a regular employee of 19 E / American Idol, it’s obvious she wants to burn professional bridges because she hates gay people so much.

Yeah, right. And I’m going to church on Sunday, right before I go to Borders and pick up Sarah Palin’s book.

Call me a hater, I don’t care, but I believe Starlet’s side 100%. And frankly, being “himself” and edgy for the sake of controversy is doing nothing to help his long-term singing career. People don’t like douchebags (John Mayer’s popularity will always perplex me), and they especially don’t like self-entitled douchebags who came into prominence via American Idol. Putting aside my blogging and opinions regarding that particularly vocal herd of sparkle cows (who I am clearly satirizing when claiming there is a huge homophobic conspiracy against Lambert) aside, I’m going to speak for lots of people who don’t give a rat’s ass about American Idol. I’m looking at this as I would have BEFORE I had this fraking blog (which began as both a work experiment and bizarro attempt to get laid). Adam Lambert’s increasingly diva-like behavior and fuck you attitude isn’t charming. It isn’t refreshing. And as someone who thinks American Idol is pretty much a joke, its doing nothing in convincing me to take this guy seriously. He’s doing nothing to further gay rights, just as he’s doing zero to further his own career.

Of course, I shouldn’t think such things. This is all a conspiracy!

This isn’t about Adam being gay – this is about a woman accousting him and now trying to make a name for herself by accusing Adam of causing the problem. You people are screaming heterosexual nonsence!!

Best. Quote. Ever.

Spread the word. Do it.

    Blah, Blah, Blah…
This person is a fourth rate, schlock-frock pushing, stick-up-her-ass, fame-whoring BITCH. She is not a stylist. She is not a designer. She is a wardrobe matron. She is responsible for overseeing costumes and dry cleaning. Her opinion is not important. Her critique unsolicited. Her personal vendetta is obvious. Adam should have pulled a Chris Brown and beat the shit out of her. He’s too nice. :)

    • lauren722

Oh my. I would never wish that upon anyone! Well, maybe the moppet of Beelzebub, but that’s different.

  • Starr

I think the most important part of this post is…how’s this attempt at getting laid working out for you? Hahahaha

  • Sherena

Lol I believe this chick about as much as I believe that last girl who just came out as one of Tiger’s harem…

  • cimi

    still love Adam….nuff said.

  • erinnthered

Adam better get used to it. That’s entertainment, and a lot of people are going to speak their mind to you, and expect you to have a thick skin. She’s probably helping him by coming forward. It’s a head’s up to his people to put a lid on him asap before he speaks up to the wrong person…if he hasn’t already. Plus, yeah, she’s definitely selling something. Doesn’t make it any less true.

Really, it’s not because he’s gay. It’s because he’s obnoxious. This isn’t the first time I’ve heard of him being rude or put off. Like everything else, this incident doesn’t exist in a vacuum.

That “make it all about the music again” stuff? That’s the label pr kicking in. Ditto canceling LKL for Chelsea Lately. Trying to appeal to a younger audience.

I’m with you on the falseness of his act. He seems more like he needs attention than trying to get across a point of view. He doesn’t seem like he knows who he is as an artist. Knowing what you like, and what you are are two different things.

    • Starr

I completely agree with this. Adam is opinionated, but he should know when to keep his mouth shut and rise above the occasion. Take for instance, the OUT controversy with Aaron Hicklin. I thought what Hicklin did was a dick move, and I was on Adam’s side – until I read his Twitter “response” to Hicklin that was pretty much all-out diva Adam. The whole “stop trying to push your agenda on my career” thing? Uh, yeah no. What he should have done was dealt with it in the background instead of warring with Hicklin through Twitter. Ugh. It just gave me flashbacks of Lindsay Lohan’s Twitter-warring with Sam Ronson. For the record, I don’t follow LiLo, but I occasionally watch E! for kicks and they showed screencaps of the LiLo-SamRo Twitter fights and man…

I think the reason why so many celebrities have addiction issues and displays of public lunacy is because they bottle everything up inside them. They are expected to act perfectly. Say nice things. Turn the other cheek. All the while being dissected and ridiculed. We live in a rude society. Adam’s reaction was genuine and raw. We have all lashed out a someone when they’ve attacked us. Why judge him so harshly over it? Have you ever called someone a bitch?

  • andrew burns

I have been to a few sites to read comments and this guy talks so much common sense,For christ sakes who gives a rats ass about being gay, some of the best people in my lifetime have been gay, they were no adam lambert, they were way above a prick like him because they had class. These nutcase fans of his who question every single instance of anything remotely attacking him shows there complete contempt for anything thats fair.he was interpreting the lyrics, gimme a fucking break he was being an asshole more to the point.i know a few gays and many online who were sickened by him.the kids should have been in bed,you think these kids whose parents allowed them to stay up and saw him sitting on a stool singing mad world were expecting that then your crazier than he is.and topidol has the best view of anyone on this subject,he is 100% right i believe every word that lady said.she said what millions would have said if they had the chance. and 74% drop in sales the worst out of the 200 on billboard.but he has sold so many.what, 250,00 in 2 weeks for a so called superstar.jeeesh susan boyle sold more in her tea break .his career is down the toilet and his fans better get used to it.he has as much chance of coming back as tiger woods has of only giving his wife 25 million dollars

    • LeighKat

Why do people think you are guy TI?

      • lauren722

YOU MEAN TOP IDOL ISN’T MALE?!?

        • http://www.affinityhealthandbeauty.co.uk Lamberkitten

I have to assume you are joking Lauren :)

          • lauren722

Haha yes I am. With the numerous pics she has posted plus her twitter, there is no denying she is a girl.

          • TopIdol

There was a time when everyone thought I was a gay male. My oh my, how times change.

          • lauren722

It’s a possibility. You could be very good at drag ;)

          • TopIdol

My voice is kind of husky.

  • Caitlyn

Um….I have no idea if they’re quoting her accurately or if she’s quoting him accurately or what actually happened, but if it happened exactly as she said, isn’t she saying she walked up to him when he got offstage and told him he was a “disgraceful Jerry-Springer low-life”? That seems really rude to just walk up to someone and insult them like that.

How is angrily telling her to shut up a diva-like response? It might not be taking the high road and just walking away, but it doesn’t seem out of line either.

  • lauren722

Ok, so I’ve finally decided my opinion on this issue. Starlet made some very rude, inflammatory comments, and Adam responded in a way that was rude and out of line. Thus, they are both at fault.

    • Isidra

That’s pretty much my take, too. :-) It’ll blow over though.

      • lauren722

        :)

  • Genie

“Be gay, fine! But stop trying to defend it all the time”
“You could have been huge but now you’re no different than a Jerry Springer low-life.”

I think Shane Starlet’s comments like that are plain offensive and wrong. Being sexual during the performance is just a part of Adam and it has nothing to do with being gay. Look up his pre-Idol performances, especially the Zodiac Show. Why are straight artists in the mainstream media (fictional and actual) the only people who are allowed to be aggressively sexual? Gay artists should get to be sexual without being called a Jerry Springer low-life.

“He’s doing nothing to further gay rights”

Adam is not trying to be a poster child for gay rights. But he is out at a very early point in his career and clearly not hiding his sexual swagger in order to make straight people feel more comfortable. That’s something the vast majority of other gay celebrities don’t dare to do.

    • deez

I think it’s fine that sexuality is part of his performance, but on network TV some things are OTT. Things that are OK at a show shouldn’t be on network TV. That should be an across the board rule whether you are gay or straight. I still think the “gayness” in his performance wasn’t the issue, it was the particular (implied) act. Again, fine for the Zodiac…ABC, not so much. I’ve seen musical performances on TV before where the guys (or girls) got a little friendly, but that was the first time I’d seen a (sim) BJ on network TV. He needs to know the boundaries in the future, but the girl was wrong to accost him the way she did. I’m sure the bitch comment was in the heat of the moment. (unless of course they’ve had words before)

    • http://www.affinityhealthandbeauty.co.uk Lamberkitten

I am with you Genie, it does seem so unfair that Adam as a performer seems to have to tone down his sexual exuberance – and just because he is gay? He does not want to push his gayness down everyone’s throat – he wants to push that he can sing and interpret a performance in a very sexual manner down everyone’s throat. Personally I can take that and some. Some people want more subtlety from their entertainers, but Adam’s type of entertainment excites me. Think Tom Jones, think Prince, think Mick Jagger – all these performed in a sexual way and without the crap that Adam has had to deal with. My own personal consolation from the fallout of the AMAs is that Adam is finally mentioned in the press in the UK – one of my clients ( I had informed her of my interest in this US superstar – OK I admit I bored her shitless about it!) and she remembered and kept a cutout from a magazine for me – was a Hollywood Gossip section in OK magazine here – the spin there was that he had been subject to a double standard and the article seemed to agree – he has also been mentioned in the Guardian and Daily Mail, these are the ones I know of and I havent done any other research yet to determine every UK media he has been mentioned in, but these ones I know of are biggies. I suspect there will be quite a few chat show couches that will be warmly accepting of Adam’s “controversy”, and that will hopefully lead to an appreciation of his quite breathtaking talent.

      • TopIdol

I’m a huge fan of Tom Jones, Mick Jagger and Prince. (I’ve even seen TJ in concert. Ha.) My issue is that his “sexual exuberance” seems very put on, very false. Clumsy, almost. It doesn’t ring true to me. It’s inauthentic. Years ago, I hung out with a drag queen named Eileen Dover. She let me hang out in the DJ booth when Boy George was spinning and I got a photo of Boy George signing a midget’s breasts. (it’s on a 3.5″ floppy somewhere…this was like in 2002?) I forget Eileen’s real name, but she grew up in Southie. She also only did drag in the evenings, but she was always a she to me. I guess I’m using that as an example because it was real, it’s who she was, it wasn’t forced. I’ve known lots of people like that, gay, straight, you name it. That’s not the issue.

I still think if Lambert would have done his AMA performance on cable, no one would have batted an eye.

        • http://www.affinityhealthandbeauty.co.uk Lamberkitten

Ooooh, was going to see Boy George myself here at Chicagos Bar in Northampton UK. Think was to be a DJ set but hoped might get a few lines of Do you Really wanna Hurt me for nostalgias sake. Unfortunately was cancelled! What I meant about those other artists – I went to see Rolling Stones myself in the early 80′s – think was billed as their retirement tour ha!, ok they may have caused shocked responses but I don’t recall the same type of hatred and polarising opinion that Adam does.

I have woke up with so many comments here to get my teeth into, alas have busy day ahead. Damn!:)

          • http://www.affinityhealthandbeauty.co.uk Lamberkitten

My smiley didnt work! Damn! :)

        • blacklisted

“My issue is that his “sexual exuberance” seems very put on, very false.”

Yeah, it’s part of a character/persona. Some might see it as ‘creating’, while others see it as an imitation of other performers. You know which one I fall into.

        • http://www.affinityhealthandbeauty.co.uk Lamberkitten

I hear what you are saying TI, I really do. But all performers who put on a sexual display, whether it be Jagger, Jones, Prince, Madonna, Lambert, they are all performing. We are each and every one of us a sexual creature, but not all of us have either the confidence, looks or talent that can take us onto a stage and project that. I am sure that those famous performers I just mentioned have not gone into each and every gig with a hard on and felt authentially sexy. Sometimes it probably just feels like another gig to them. Everybody borrows part of their sexuality from what they have seen in their past. Jagger as a scrawny kid probably borrowed from Elvis, Tom Jones probably borrowed from the same source, Prince probably borrowed from all three gone before and more. I hope you get what I am saying. Adam is no different. Most displays of sexuality, be it on stage or in real life, is some kind of act to impress your intended object. The diversity of sexual appeal is complex and needs a whole book I am sure. I differ from you in that Adam’s sexuality appeals to me. Whether real or simulated (suppose a bit like true love versus infatuation – who caught up in that scenario can with honesty say which is which?) but with me it hits a mark – not saying having actual real gasms at his expense, more like a lightness of being – a release from the humdrum – and I enjoy it. Apples and oranges?

      • Mithra

        Lamberkitten,

Think Tom Jones, think Prince, think Mick Jagger – all these performed in a sexual way and without the crap that Adam has had to deal with.

Adam’s name should never be uttered along with their names. PLUS – it’s been pretty much common knowledge for eons that Mick’s bi, and he was gay bashed from the very start of his career, as was Prince, so you’re point is?

        • http://www.affinityhealthandbeauty.co.uk Lamberkitten

Mithro, you have a right to your opinion as do I or anyone else commenting on this blog. As I said to TI, the crap I refer to in this case being the hatred and polarising opinion that Adam has had to deal with. Ok, I am not saying Adam should be mentioned in the same breath as Elvis or the Beatles, but ya know, some slightly less iconic acts such as Jagger, Prince and Tom Jones – I think Adam could be easily be counted amongst them. Judging by his effect on me and I know many others, and as a fan myself of the other acts I mentioned – I can put Adam there. He may or may not achieve the success of these other acts but to me he has similar, if not more, talent and appeal.

          • http://www.affinityhealthandbeauty.co.uk Lamberkitten

            Sorry, Mithra, not Mithro! :)

          • http://www.affinityhealthandbeauty.co.uk Lamberkitten

Just to add to my comment, I havent been to that many major concerts in my life, but I have been excited to see both Jagger and Prince in concert here in the UK. I would be far more excited and would easily pay much more to see Lambert here. I know, there’s a sucker born every minute! :)

          • Mithra

Ok, I am not saying Adam should be mentioned in the same breath as Elvis or the Beatles, but ya know, some slightly less iconic acts such as Jagger, Prince and Tom Jones – I think Adam could be easily be counted amongst them.

            O_O + *blank fucking stare*

I’m just going to let you answer yourself:

            I know, there’s a sucker born every minute! :D

          • http://www.affinityhealthandbeauty.co.uk Lamberkitten

I am saying about being suckered because I know that’s what some people here would think. I just can’t help who I feel is that special. Adam to me simply is!

        • http://8sourcandy.wordpress.com 8sourcandy

Media technology has changed the way information in disseminated. Mick Jagger’s bi-sexuality was not on the evening news. It was contained to music publications and fan gossip. The internet provides a platform for anyone and everyone to air their grievances on any matter with or with facts to support it. Therefore, the scrutiny today’s celebrities face is far worse and more polarizing because, more people are in the conversation.

Our country, as a whole, is very conservative and homophobic. If it weren’t, we would have same sex marriages. It stands to reason that displays of homosexuality are going to be frowned upon. Many people, contributors here included, are homophobic. They say they aren’t, that don’t care, that it’s no big deal, but it is. It’s like expecting someone to admit that they are a racist. It just is not going to happen. So they attach other reasons to why they don’t like a gay performer, in this case Adam Lambert. The inference is that he is an “Uppity Gay” that simply doesn’t know his place. He isn’t the eunuch or buffoon. He isn’t a middle-aged lesbian. He is sexually is erotic. He makes straight America nervous. He makes some of Gay America nervous. To the dismay of his detractors it does mean he is a leader in gay activism by virtue of being out, gay and famous. The responsibility is enormous and just one more weighted expectation that has been placed on his leather-clad shoulders. I suspect that he doesn’t want it, but there it is.

      • cimi

Already been done–did you not see the View?

  • http://www.affinityhealthandbeauty.co.uk Lamberkitten

If this is true then this is unprofessional of Adam to say “shut up bitch” – not klassy. However how professional is it of a stylist, whom I assume was at the show in an employed capacity, to accost him as he comes off stage and give him all that prudish negativity? Did she take equal time to scold Janet Jackson for crotch-grabbing? Have a quiet word in Eminem’s ear bout the content of his lyrics – I could go on. I realise that Adam’s performance was way more controversial than the other performers, as we were in fact told by the show hosts that it would be, but if she was there in a employed capacity then her own private thoughts on the performance should have stayed that way. Adam is newsworthy at the moment and whether you have something good or bad to say about him, you are sure to find a willing listener. Adam is an easy target for anyone wanting to make a name for themselves.

    • deez

The moment he came offstage was the WRONG time to voice her concerns (if that is what they were). If they had any sort of relationship, she should’ve waited for a private moment to offer criticism (in a constructive way)… what she did, didn’t sound as if it was offered as “help”. (She may have had a problem with Adam to begin with, who knows?) I thought the face-crotch was TOO much for network TV, I wasn’t shocked by the act, per se, but I was shocked that I saw it when, and where I did. For a concert, HBO special, or something like that, it was fine…but I think he crossed the network line with that one. (same if it had been a woman’s face).

Adam may have needed to hear some feedback, but she certainly didn’t handle the situation well.

      • Isidra

Thinking about it, I agree with that. She seems very presumptuous throughout her story. Which is the other reason I’m inclined to give the anecdote some consideration. I’d imagine if she were lying, she’d make herself look better.

I think Adam would have been justified in being angry/annoyed. But I do think that if he said “Shut up, bitch” though, he was still rude.

        • http://www.affinityhealthandbeauty.co.uk Lamberkitten

Maybe she was truly offended by Adam’s performance. For herself? On behalf of the gay population? On behalf of the children? Deeply worried for his career? I dunno, all quite fishy to me. For me personally the only deep regret of the AMA show is that Adam’s voice wasnt under his usual impeccable command. I just find it really quite odd that anyone who didnt have an agenda would be so insensitive at that time to say what she says she said. And although it may have been rude of Adam as a professional to say what he did, I think that Adam as a human being and with the pressure of that moment, probably could have said something much worse and been justified.

          • TopIdol

Radar contacted her, I’ve found out. And she simply answered them honestly. She did not contact them.

          • LeighKat

Yes and she also mentioned that some of what was said in the article was untrue. Which leads me to believe that maybe some of the more outlandish things in the article may not be 100% correct or possibiliy quoted out of context.
I can agree with other points argued about the timing of her remarks- maybe that would have pissed me off too but, there are better ways to have handled it.
Despite all the confusion- it seems that maybe this, and other criticisms are finally hitting home. Adam has decided not to do the LKL interview right now. Hopefully it’s because he, or his people, realise that the AMAs are history and talking about it anymore is not helping his career or his image along.

BTW Did anybody catch the Barbara Walters special? am I the only one who thought that it was absymal? What a waste of time! I was also saddened to see that Adam caked on all that make-up. While I am not among those who get hot flashes (hehehe) over the guy, I do think he is okay looking- kinda cute- and he does himself a disservice by caking it all on. I also think that post on VFTW about his skin was totally disgusting. They do take it too far sometimes.

May I also just say- I love hearing what TI faithfuls have to say on all posts here. It’s nice to come to a place where everyone’s “familiar” in a weird way! :-) Thanks to TI for doing what you do!

    • TopIdol

I got the impression it was before the performance?

      • http://www.affinityhealthandbeauty.co.uk Lamberkitten

What, you mean her run in with Adam? But the article states “Designer Shane Starlet thought Adam’s AMA performance, which included simulated oral sex, was unacceptable” seems to imply her stance is because of his performance there. What gives you the impression it was based on something else? Or am I reading you wrong here TI?

        • TopIdol

It’s more about his “fuck you” attitude than it is anyone finding it unacceptable. It’s more that people cry HOMOPHOBE when people call out diva-like behavior on his part OR the batshit craziness of his fans.

Kitten, I don’t think you’re a batshit crazy Glambert, or that any devoted Lambert fan who regularly comments on here falls into that category. (Where is 8SourCandy, btw? I miss her!) I like you guys. I like that you, Lauren and Sour Candy ENJOY having conversations about this stuff and I appreciate your opinions more than you probably realize. (Speaking of…I have to get on DivaKalina’s ass again for a column. He needs to weigh in on this stuff.)

          • lauren722

Haha I am trying to ignore his attitude when it appears. Just go back and watch the adorable water bottle interview and everything will be ok :) Some of the fans are pretty insane. I’ve been unfollowing people like crazy. This one girl declared that she will report whoever corrects Adam’s spelling or grammar. Being a grammar Nazi, is not a reportable offense IMO. Really, do you have to defend his SPELLING? homophobe :P
Haha, good to know :) I like you too Top Idol. I’ve been wondering too. 8SOURCANDY WHERE ARE YOU?????? COME BACK TO ME!!!!!!!

          • deez

DivaK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11!!!!!!!!!!!!! I knew my life felt empty! Why the hell is he ignoring his tards?

    • andrew burns

Adam lambert made himself an easy target, no one put him in that position but himself. No one but him ignored the script that he had performed earlier that day.No one but him chose to upset millions in america and no one but him danced and sang like a 4th rate artist. She only said what millions given the chance would have said and a lot worse than what she said i bet.So he stank and had a bad day.Your supposed to rise above what she said.I have played 100s of gigs and been verbally abused because someone hated the performance from the group i was in.And don’t tell me yes but you weren’t on the biggest night of your career because if i was i would not have blown it like he did nor would anyone else i know for that matter.

      • lauren722

So if you met Adam Lambert, you would actually say something like that to his face? I would NEVER do that to anyone, no matter how much I hated their performance. It just isn’t constructive. Opinions are great, but unnecessary hostility isn’t ever helpful. Sure, he should have chosen the high road and ignored her or debated nicely, but really, is anyone perfect? I would have a hard time not cursing in his situation. And why didn’t she take the high road too and state her position in a calm, non-offensive manner? Is she exempt from “rising above?”

I’m sorry. I don’t want to start a fight, but that’s just how I feel.

    • cimi

And thanks for that comment too. Spot on.

  • http://www.detailsinthefabric.tk/ Shosh

    I agree completely.
He could go really far, but he acts like… well, a skank diva. Only he’s a gay male and not Miley Cyrus/an obnoxious female.
I really really really liked Adam on Idol and now I’m kinda pissed at him.

    P.S. Heterosexual nonsense. rofl

    • TopIdol

      Shosh, you mean:

      heterosexual nonscence

  • jonoave

Someone found this on a concert review for The Fray:

Recent singles You Found Me and Never Say Never energized listeners. Over My Head (Cable Car), one of the decade’s finest pop songs, was clear and heartfelt. A Kris Allen-inspired copycat cover of Kanye West’s Heartless could have been nixed.

This reviewer should get fired for not realising it’s the other way round, since every mom and baby and dog has heard of The Fray’s version and Kris copied them. And someone should warn him that the “concern trolls” would soon be on him.

    • Starr

While I agree it was an error on the writer’s part, Kris did not copy The Fray’s version of “Heartless”. Anyone with a functioning ear drum can hear the stark difference in both renditions. For one, Kris actually phrases his words better than Isaac Slade of The Fray does. I love The Fray, but their cover of “Heartless” put me to sleep, and I could not understand half of what Slade was singing. The tempo is different, and Kris has added a little Spanish flavor in his version (for the live gigs) and a much edgier, rock version on the CD. And FYI, I’d never heard of The Fray’s rendition of “Heartless” before Kris did his. When Randy mentioned it on the show and said that he thought Kris’s version was better than The Fray’s that caught my attention and I thought I should check it out.

Honestly, this whole Kris-copied-the-Fray thing is really getting old. Even The Fray’s Joe King acknowledges Kris’s version and it was why he wanted to work with Kris in the first place, so I would suggest attempting to derail Kris elsewhere, where people aren’t as gullible.

      • lauren722

I mean Kris used the Fray’s acoustic version but he didn’t exactly copy them. Adam got his version of “Ring of Fire” from somewhere else too. Plus, Kris’ version is infinitely better. I love the Fray, but I just think Kris did a better job with the song :)

  • rehabilitard

Adam now is different from Adam on AI. He said in one of his Hollywood interviews that he tried to copy David Cook’s creativity and attitude. Then tour happened, lot’s of screaming frauen, it all went right into his head. He was great on Idol but it is over now and his attitude is not going to get him any new fans.

    • TopIdol

If frauen screamed for me, I don’t think it would go to my head. I think I would run.

    • cimi

I think you should sut. up.

      • lauren722

Cimi, take a deep breath. I know that Adam is scared of some of his crazier fans too.

  • spinningfasterandfastertonowhere

I hear tell that Adam was very quiet at the beginning of the show and then as the show progressed he started to get a big head. But what bothers me is many of his fans who have been really insane. Many remind me of those mothers who have monsters for children and do everything they can to make excuses for them, no matter how outrageous they act up in public. It’s always someone elses fault not their brats. Then they try to make you believe how wonderful their kid is by heaping so much praise on them it makes you sick.

Another reason I believe Adam lost is one thing many people don’t like is unfair treatment. There were people out there who didn’t like the pimping by the show and the judges and voted for anyone but him. Some people picked the guy who appeared to be humble and the under dog instead of the person many people believe was getting the Nellie Olsen treatment. Some of Adam’s women fans remind me of Harriet Olsen from that show Little House on the Prairie and Kris is Laura Ingles. It surprises me many people can’t see it. I think if Allison or Matt had made it to the finals many would’ve picked them over Adam.

    • TopIdol

When people say its all bullshit that Lambert’s fans have gotten attention for being batshit crazy, that’s entirely false. They’ve been called out by that Z100 DJ, two individuals on “The View” (I hate Hasselbeck, but it is still not excusing their behavior), that one Hollywood-based columnist Deez (I think) posted yesterday, as well as a “slight” mention in the L.A. Times last week regarding ABC’s decision to let Lambert perform on their network.

I also find it amusing that Sparkle Cows believe Gokey lost steam because of the unfair pimping but the fact that Lambert also likely had the same fate is completely lost on them. Last season, Archuleta was the golden boy from day 1 and Cook picked up steam throughout the competition, probably because people really didn’t like seeing this kid be inexplicably commended time and time again (plus a dash of overzealous stage dad who had been trying to make him famous for years). I believe that when it comes down to it, people still want the winner to be someone who is a virtual unknown, someone who wasn’t a plant or wasn’t pimped by the judges all along. That’s the illusion the show presents and people want to buy into that illusion.

      • cimi

Sorry TI but I think your full of shit. I don’t even understand much what your getting at. I watched AI year before last (first time watcing all the way through to the end) and I loved, loved, loved, Cook. Archaletta was sweet, sure, but, He obviously was not the winner. I just don’t understand why you all don’t see it.

        • TopIdol

I thought the judges were pimping Archuleta more from the get go, this is what you’re talking about, right? And I agree with you. Cook deserved to win. Hands down. I was never a fan of Archuleta. Just not my kind of music.

      • erinnthered

Huge THIS! to the second paragraph.

As far as the first, just from one comment from one guy who works for a label out here I get the impression his fans are very well known for their BSC behavior within the industry. That’s what really matters. No one wants to touch this with a million foot pole unless it makes a ton of money. Adam isn’t justifying the crazy just yet.

  • sosad

    Shane STARLET?
Is she, perhaps, responsible for this?

    http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc77/Mysteriosoman/adam_vevo4.jpg

    • AIFan

Oh dear. He’s been looking like hell lately. Is he still considered good-looking by his fans ? I know, I know, stupid question, lol.

      • deez

        I’m tellin’ ya…Liza Minelli/Heat Miser love child.

      • cimi

Yeah, realy stupid…what do YOU look like??

  • Acrobat

I do think Adam often suffers from verbal diarrhea, but I’m on his side for this one. If someone walked up to me right after the most nerve-wracking performance of my life (regardless of how good or bad it was) and called me a disgraceful Jerry Springer low-life, I’d probably have some choice words for her, too.

    • cimi

      Ditto–Thakyou.

      • cimi

        And by thakyou…I meant THANKYOU.

  • ML

Oh look, an American Idol designer (with a cheap Hollywood name) tattle-tales on Lambert to a gossip site and everyone here says “U Go girl!” and “What a douche!”
Are you people fucking kidding me? This “controversy” has already passed its 15-minute expiration date and this woman is cashing in before the blurred kisses turn to puke.
Sorry, this little interview is the equivalent of another one of Tiger Wood’s whores coming out and saying “Yes, I fucked him, but I feel like it is my moral obligation to say this to the world.”
Adam should be sticking to the music, and Starlet (I’m surprised she didn’t add on an extra “t” at the end) should stick to making shitty outfits for AI contestants. If one preaches to another to shut-up, then the preacher should practice her damn sermons.

    • LeighKat

Sorry, but as the british say, I think you have lost the plot.

      • ML

Then explain to me where I went wrong. And try to slate the snark please.

        • LeighKat

your telling me to slate the snark when your post is riddled in expletives and sarcasm?

Okay, if that’s what you would like.

Think you have lost the plot when you compare this woman, who is entitled to her opinion by the way, to the women who Mr. Woods may or may not have had affairs with, well, if you don’t see how off base you are…

I shall leave it at that. I have no intention of getting into a war with you.

          • ML

The designer is entitled to her opinion and Lambert is allowed to react to her opinion. My question is, what the hell is she getting out of this interview? Why would a designer want to be part of the tabloid media?
Simple, same reason why women keep popping out of the woodwork and claim to be Tiger’s “other” one (maybe not all of them, some were searched for, but a FEW came out all on thier own). Famewhoring and money make celebrity.

          • Isidra

She’s also risking slander/libel charges, since her name is attached.

I’m not saying that makes her automatically truthful, but the risk does lend a certain credibility.

And really, while Adam is free to respond however he likes, I’m also free to comment that if indeed he did say “shut up, bitch” in response, he was out of line.

    • http://8sourcandy.wordpress.com 8sourcandy

yes. yes. yes. yes and yes!

      • http://8sourcandy.wordpress.com 8sourcandy

NO! this was to appear after ML.

  • Full Tilt

Lauren, I think you’re a great fan of Adam’s without being OTT like most Glamberts. But, sweetie, what he said to this woman was WRONG and there’s no point trying to defend the indefensible. That was the very worst time to lash out at someone who could hurt you, and it seems she now has retaliated in this article. The truth is, Adam is his own worst enemy and his fans are enabling him to become the monster he’s morphing into.

    • cimi

What the frick ever. Since when did you not use the bitch word uninhibitantly (yeah, I know, probably not a word). I say bitch on a daily basis no doubt. Adam is not God, give the kid a break will ya. He aint perfect. I will say though, he IS close to it.

  • LeighKat

I love this Shane lady- she now follows me on twitter (her tweets are secured) and she has some strong views about the young whiper snappers in the industry who are “insecure” and who “brag and boast to prove themselves” instead of letting their work speak for them.
she also has some choice words for Perez.
All while dedicating time to feed the homeless. This chick seems to really rock.

    • TopIdol

I want her to follow me on Twitter!

      • LeighKat

I am sure she will. I just submitted a request to her.

        • LeighKat

Oh, and she’s a designer… gonna try find her stuff. She has a clothing line launching soon I think.

          • http://www.affinityhealthandbeauty.co.uk Lamberkitten

Bingo! She has something to sell. She can hardly be taken seriously when there is probably a hidden agenda in getting her own name out there.

  • lauren722

So, I feel the need to defend Adam. I’m sure the woman isn’t lying and it definitely isn’t a conspiracy, but really you can’t lay all the blame on Adam either. Imagine what is was like for him after that performance. He was already stressed about his earlier controversies and I’m sure he was getting plenty of negative immediate feedback screamed at him. She made some very provocative statements and he was already in a bad mood and thus he answered in not such a nice way. I’m sure if she had said that more after the fact when he was calmer, he would have debated with her in his usual charming way. I don’t think badly of him because of this but I do agree, it does make me disappointed.
(I think Adam would have to kill my family and eat my dog before I could ever think badly of him though xD)

    • LeighKat

Lauren- your great. I love coming to this site and seeing “familiar faces” and reading what people have to say but, really- Mr. Lambert has brought much of this upon his own head. No need to defend him. If what this woman said is true, he was wrong- there’s nothing to defend in that.

      • lauren722

Haha my favorite part is being able to recognize everyone too!

I kinda feel like when Adam says “Shut up B*tch,” he doesn’t mean it that harshly. This is hard for me to explain…Ummm, he curses a lot it seems, so I don’t think he meant it to be as mean and angry as people are taking it. If Kris said that, well then we’d know something was up, but I really don’t think Adam meant to be that offensive. In interviews I’ve always noticed him struggling (and sometimes failing) to keep it clean, so this just might have been a lapse due to stress, realizing his vocals were crap, etc.
And LeighKat, you know I must always defend Adam’s attitude just like you defend Kris against those who call him “boring” or “bland”
        It’s a tard’s job :)

        • TopIdol

I actually know what you’re saying, Lauren. I thought about that. I call people bitch, too. I wish Lambert the Nice Guy would reveal himself more in his public persona, though.

          • lauren722

But he does reveal his nice side! In many interviews, well up until he recently, he’s been nothing but sweet and charming. Though I do admit recently he has been more defensive and harsh. I want the ice-cream eating, Kris-cuddling, music-loving Adam to come back!

          • LeighKat

Ha! the “kris cuddling” – that is classic!!!

          • deez

I agree with you, Lauren. I LOVED Adam on the show. He seemed like Mr Niceguy/Big Brother/Class-clown/Therapist /Best Buddy to everyone else. I remember wondering how anyone could NOT love him. I VOTED for him in the finale over Kris… and yep, I’m bordering on being…oh hell, I’m a Kris Tard. I was even feeling the “Kradam”. (in the godly way, of course) Nothing about him bugged me until after the tour was over.( Well, Glamberts bugged me during the tour…not Adam’s fault)

Then we get bombarded with controversy after controversy. ( Most of which, if not caused by Adam, was at least perpetuated by him) The whole AMA thing was really stupid. He shouldn’t have found it so difficult to stick to the script; it was his first time on the national stage, for goodness sake!! You don’t ad-lib when you don’t have the clout! All the back-tracking, and non-apology apologies, and blame deflecting made him seem like an ass. (He knows very well “the kiss” wasn’t the issue). He just seems so different now, and I don’t know which persona is the “character” and which is the real him. I tend to think it would’ve been extremely hard for him to fake it for almost a year around the other contestants. (not to mention rooming with Kris, whom I feel is fairly perceptive). I think this “in-your-face-asshole” is not the real Adam. I don’t know why he feels the need to be this person. (a reaction to stress, as you guessed?) Whatever it is, I hope it ends sooner than later. I know the die-hards will forgive him anything, but the rest of us are gonna find that hard to do.

          • TopIdol
          • deez

            Ahhhhh! Nostalgia.

          • deez

            http://www.ainow.org/index.php/top-stories/1506-sneak-peek-our-qaa-with-katy-allen

The parade pic reminded me of this. Her answer about the pre and post Idol Kris was funny, but I was left scratching my head over the one about “All She Wants To Do is Dance” being really well-known in Ark, but maybe not everywhere else. (as a reason it didn’t connect as a performance…actually, that was b/c it was sucky) HUH? She really can’t believe that Don Henley isn’t well-known outside of Ark?

          • Isidra

Well, she’s his wife! I think, if anyone, the wife should get a pass on having to admit her husband gave a subpar performance. :-)

          • deez

Ehhhh…she could’ve come up with a less transparent excuse!! (Don Henley not well-known??)
“He had a cold”, “Didn’t get a song approved”, “Dog ate his homework”…would’ve been better than that one, lol! It’s OK, though. It was the only performance of his during S8 that I didn’t like. (I thought his “Come Together” that Simon hated was pretty darn good!)

          • Verbally Dyslexic

Not gonna lie, I hopped on board the Kradam train and enjoyed the ride when that nail polish story came out. Seeing them together once in a while does warm the cockles of my heart.

          • blacklisted

Revealing this info is a ballsy move if she has any relationship with AI. Talk about burning a bridge.

I think Adam went overboard in the AMA’s b/c 1) he knew that vocally, the performance wasn’t up to his usual standards and 2) due to his own anxiety and insecurity (i.e. the hype pre/during-show frazzled him). Probably why any critique after the fact led him to a defensive posture.

IMO Adam has been working a persona since the beginning (ie. on AI the ‘rocker’, on tour the Freddy Mercury/Bowie retread). It’s possible that being an actor has influenced him in this arena.

Lately, Adam seems to be using more of a persona to deal with the outside stressors/pressure/hype. So it’s moved beyond the stage. Basically, it’s a defense, a way to keep a boundary between himself and the madness (fans, media, etc). It’s probably also influenced by past insecurities and all those years spent struggling to make it in LA.

I personally like Adam best when he’s relaxed and enjoying himself, especially with Kris or Allison. The difference is really obvious.

            [youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8kn5iUWkkhA&hl=en_US&fs=1&]

        • Verbally Dyslexic

This might surprise some but I’m agreeing with Lauren here. I know less about this Starlet woman than Adam, so I’m taking her written account with a grain of salt. Also, to be fair, if I had just come from a performance that I didn’t quite pull off and I’m feeling upset with myself, the last thing I need is someone to say to my face how bad and offensive it was.

For all we know he could have apologised to her after saying that, or the entire exchange could’ve taken place in a playful manner. For all we know she could’ve mentioned this in a light-hearted tone herself, and Radaronline simply saw an opportunity to increase readership and spun it around.

Not doing this specifically to defend Adam, just expressing doubts about the whole exchange. I’ve been a strong critic of Adam’s performance and behaviour all this while, but that is when the facts present themselves. I can’t take this report as fact, so I’m not inclined to believe it occurred in the way it’s positioned for readers.

    • Mithra

I think for some reason these people on AI get their egos stroked too much. They become delusional. That’s Adam’s problem – and the meth, coke, and JD diet he’s been on.

      • lauren722

nah he doesn’t do that anymore Mithra!

Deez, I tend to agree with you. The big brother Adam definitely seems more real to me. If he was truly always so in-your-face, Kris couldn’t have possibly fallen in love with him as he did (in the godly way of course.) But really Adam was so loved among the contestants. He just has to be a great person, I know it. He’s definitely just cracking from the stress. I think he just need’s a girl’s night out with Allison xD
(before people yell at me, I was referencing how Allison said she was closest with the girls and included Adam’s name in the list)

        • http://www.affinityhealthandbeauty.co.uk Lamberkitten

I think Allison would be up for that too! :) Here’s Allison defending Adam:

          • spinningfasterandfastertonowhere

duh, Allison reads the blogs and knows what’s up…especially the tirades from some of the Glamberts who were already kavetching that she and others weren’t sticking up for Adam for weeks…what was she gonna say? His performance sucked and have a ton of Glamberts bombard her? lol

            I think not.

          • http://www.affinityhealthandbeauty.co.uk Lamberkitten

Or perhaps she really was proud of Adam’s performance? Or maybe they’s all lying, fakers from this season’s AI?

      • Smartie

They’re living in a bubble, Mithra, surrounded by ass kissers, and they lose touch with reality.

        • Burgundy LaRue

Yes, they don’t call it The Idol Bubble for giggles. It’s a real thing. These contestants live the good life for a few months, then have to go back to reality. Some of them are talented/well-adjusted enough to build solid careers, but most of them will return to their everyday lives of Jane/John Q. Public. And they can’t handle that. They saw how the other 1% lives and damned if they aren’t going to stay in that world, no matter what it takes. It’s sad, really.

    • cimi

      I really like Madamme too.

    • cimi

      Ditto. Thanks for that

  • deez

Once again, a Glambert comment with misspellings. I’m beginning to think there is, in actuality, only ONE Glambert ( who is a poor speller) with an army of sockpuppets.

    • Verbally Dyslexic

You know Adam misspells frequently on twitter.

      • Starr

Everyone misspells on Twitter, though. Even HBD. I’m usually not a grammar/spelling Nazi on Twitter, because if I were, I would be bitching the whole time instead of Twittering. So yeah, spelling deficiencies aren’t contagious, I don’t think. Unless Adam has some sort of magic glitter he throws on fans that messes with their grasp of the English language.

  • http://drlulzington.wordpress.com/ doctorlulzington

First of all, I love that you call Justin Bieber “The Moppet Of Beelzebub”. Secondly, you’re right. He’s fuck you attitude is off-putting. He already thinks he’s Madonna – she pushed the envelope, but she did it slowly and carefully. We had “Like A Virgin” at the ’84 VMAs where she writhed around in a wedding dress – then it took something like 8 or 9 years before she published her own porno book, “Sex”.

Adam seems to think it’s the 1989 of his career and he can make out with Black Jesus in front of a bunch of burning crosses while drinking some Pepsi.

Adam, you haven’t paid the dues to get away with these antics.

    • TopIdol

Doctor Lulz, you’re still a gay male, right?? :)

Exactly. You can’t be pulling this shit so early in your career…especially if you became famous via Idol. I want to like Adam Lambert, I really, really do. I was thrilled to have an [openly] gay Jew on Idol! THRILLED. I just wish he would stop being such a jackass and maybe lay off the foundation, get a chemical peel or something. He would look so much better without all the greasepaint.

It’s not his homosexuality that’s turning people off, it’s his attitude. I’ve heard from several sources that he’s a very nice guy in person and I hope that’s true. And it probably is, but he should bring a bit more of that into his public image.

      • http://drlulzington.wordpress.com/ doctorlulzington

I’m with you there (and yes I am a PROUD gay man!). I soooo want to like Adam, in fact, at first I thought he was the best. thing. ever. to grace AI. But he just rubs me the wrong way. If he just calmed down a little and stayed in his place I’d probably like him.

        • Smartie

          Homophobe!

Ha! Ha! Meg Ryan’s got nothing on you.

    • lauren722

That’s what I was just about to ask! TI, you can’t say these types of things and then not explain them!

    • cimi

Exactly! TI–I thought you were married with kids?

      • TopIdol

        That was a joke, right?

  • Trish

TI, I love you, and Lord knows I’m pretty much over Adam myself, but why are we believing *anything” coming from the spawn of The National Enquirer? (Although, come to think of it, they did get that John Edwards story right!) Do you have some inside info????

    • TopIdol

Sadly, the Enquirer has gotten a lot of crap right (Don’t forget Rush Limbaugh and Monica Lewinsky). Plus, this tale actually has a real-life person’s name attached. If she didn’t say it (and there were likely witnesses who could verify the incident), that would be an easy lawsuit. I don’t really see why she would lie when her career is at stake.

The comments on the story are predictable, of course.

      • Mithra

The Enquirer is actually very careful now, and has been since the 1980′s after some major lawsuits. I think the one by Carol Burnett was the major turning point. They don’t publish articles which can cost them a fortune if they cannot back it up any longer. The bad rep still haunts them in the public consciousness though.

        • TopIdol

They also haunt John Edwards on a daily basis, I’m sure.

      • spinningfasterandfastertonowhere

If it was false the designer could sue them, plus the Enquirer got the Limbaugh and Edwards stories when no one wanted to touch it. I believe that he has let fame go to his head. Many people are making excuses for him. They only mention the guy-on-guy kiss as the main reason. They leave out the simulated oral sex, finger banging and flipping the bird on TV, like those things didn’t happen. Many are making excuses for his bad behavior by comparing it to over bad behavior, but does it make it right? NOPE.

        • cimi

yeah, I agree, spining.. That’s been on my mind all along. No-one is talking about the simulated oral-sex
and the “Sanfrancisco Treat”. Wow, are we, in this country, that stupid that we dismiss certain important
material. The view…Ellen…the early show. Give me a break.. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Adam but, come on,
even I smell a rat. simulated sex is not entetainment (at least for me) so why even do it?
My thoughts is that Adam is just trying to outdo (like he siad) the other entertainers. I forgive him because
he’s still young yet and God knows what I did when I was his age.
