America's Next Top Model is going to New Zealand?

Will Cycle 14 of America’s Next Top Model send the wannabe models to New Zealand?

The New Zealand Herald is reporting hush-hush Tyra activities on the island nation. Let’s hope this will be the “destination” for next season (er, cycle). This year they changed around a few things and kept the location domestic (Hawaii), which I thought ended up being kind of lame…especially how the “petite model” emphasis meant the girls couldn’t go to judging in heels. Come on, now, Ty-Ty. They’re not circus freaks.

In my opinion, Moscow would be the ideal next locale for the Top 5 to finish out a Cycle, given its international status as a burgeoning style capital. Maybe it’s because Eastern Europe has no shortage of beautiful women, although that didn’t stop Ty-Ty from taking the girls to Brazil in Cycle 12.

    The overseas destination of ANTM Cycle 14 IS New Zealand. Confirmed.

    No, Tyra isn’t filming anything for New Zealand’s Next Top Model. NZNTM isn’t even filming right now, the last cycle was over many months ago and the next cycle is postponed for a year because of the financial crisis (and possibly might not even happen at all). It hasn’t even taken applications or held auditions, so Tyra is definitely not filming for it.

    Also, Tyra has, to the best of my knowledge (and my knowledge is quite extensive) never appeared on any version of Top Model other than ANTM, actually. The other ANTM judges have appeared on many overseas versions (Jay Manuel hosts the Canadian version, Nigel Barker has appeared on the Canadian and New Zealand versions, Janice Dickinson appeared on the Finnish version, J Alexander has appeared on loads of versions, sometimes more than once), but Tyra has not.

        NZNTM = New Zealand’s Next Top Model. ANTM = America’s Next Top Model. I’m only saying, Tyra is not filming anything for New Zealand’s Next Top Model in New Zealand, because the application process for the next cycle of New Zealand’s Next Top Model has been postponed to late 2010 for now.

        Cycle 14 of America’s Next Top Model, on the other hand, was auditioned for and cast long ago, it’s been filming since late September 2009, and barring some kind of catastrophe it is expected to wrap before the end of December 2009.

        I have been informed that Tyra will arrive in New Zealand to film for ANTM next week, ready to film on December 4th (NZ time). Exactly when the contestants and crew arrive I am not clear about, though I would expect that some of the crew is already in New Zealand scouting for locations, arranging activities and taking stock footage of locations (to be used in scene transitions/pre-episode recaps/promos etc.). The source is anonymous (which is not surprising, as the monetary penalty for leaking this info is a potential 5 million dollars, I have been told) but very convincing as all of the facts add up.

        Whatever the case, we’ll know for certain by the end of next week. If someone has been telling porkies, they are very convincing porkies indeed to have convinced me.

      Good point. She does make guest appearances on the other incarnations of Top Model throughout the world…and I needed something to post. I hope she’s not spreading the art of smizing to foreign nations. EEEEK!

    Yuck. I’ve only seen one episode of this show in my life and it was enough to make sure I never watched it again. Tyra is scary but I was even more terrified that my friend actually dreamed of being on that show. And you think Idol is crappy TI?

      They’re both crappy. ANTM was just the only one I watched for years…I succumbed to the allure of Nigel Barker. I might watch Nigel Barker in anything.

      The show is an excuse for Tyra to be given young girls to eat. She will live forever because she feasts off the young.
